There is nothing wrong with that. It’s legal to try to beat casinos at their game. I do it on most weekends. But I don’t try to claim I’m doing anything positive for anybody but myself when I do this. It only benefits me, and hurts someone else.
It benefits society in the following way: members of the hospitality industry and casino employees employed in a hospitality capacity have extra money to provide for their families. In future posts, you will ignore the fact that the question has been answered by Axel, myself and others. You will also change the question if you feel like it.
I’m not going to change the question. And thanks for trying to answer my question and not calling me a troll.
With this said, I’m struggling to understand your answer. How does APs extracting money from casinos benefit “members of the hospitality industry and casino employee in a hospitality industry”? You said they “have extra money to provide for their families.” Why do you say this?
This only occurs if you lose money in a casino. If you win (AP example) then the reverse happens. Casinos and casino employees have less money to provide for their families. In addition, govenrments have less money.
The perfect scenario for the casino industry (and for state and local govenrments) is for everybody to be a net loser, and just go to casinos for entertainment.
I see the situation as the same as the lottery. Everybody understands the lottery is a voluntary tax; most see it as a regressive tax on the poor. The ideal situation for the government is for everybody to play and nobody to ever win. Obviously, if that happened, people wouldn’t play the lottery, but this is the way the government would make the most money.
Again, this is not moralizing about being AP. You keep on wanting to bring it back to that. I get it’s legal and there is nothing wrong with being an AP.
I’m still struggling with your answer on how an AP winning money is benefiting anybody but himself. If you’re right, then a lot of economist are wrong. Most have correctly pointed out that casinos are a “zero sum” game...meaning both sides can’t win at the same time. There will always be a winner and loser. If I win (playing with my brain), then they (meaning casinos and governments) lose. It’s that simple.
Please clarify your position. And I do thank you for trying.
