I believe all of the companion cards expire on 1/31/17, and they have to be re-established at that point.

I will go ask TR later today if it's possible to do a companion card from across the country, like if each person goes to TR at the same time in their respective casinos.

    That might make it easier.

I just noticed this. Does the physical card you have now actually have a 2018 date? Or are you referring to the fact that you will be Seven Stars until Jan 2018?

Has anyone ascertained whether or not both card holders need to be present to give someone your companion card?

There is a way to get it done without both cardholders being there.

I just managed this. My 7 Stars companion was thousands of miles away when he got his.

It's not easy to do, but it can be done.

First, get the full name (correct spelling) and Total Rewards # of the person you want to assign as companion.

Next, find out from your TR companion which property your companion will be visiting to pick up the card.

Then go to Total Rewards yourself, and talk a supervisor into doing this for you. Some will agree, others will refuse and claim it can't be done. If you get refused, go to another Total Rewards or come during a different shift and get a different supervisor.

Fortunately I got a nice supervisor who was very helpful and said yes, without me having to look elsewhere.

If they agree, you will fill out a form with your info and your companon's info. Be sure to have that companion's info with you when you visit Total Rewards, so you can fill out the form.

Tell the supervisor which property your companion will be picking up the card at. Ask them to BOTH note your TR account to allow this, as well as e-mail the supervisor at the other property regarding what's going on.

Then your companion just needs to show up to their property, tell them to look up your TR # (make sure you give it to them), check the notes, and complete the process over there.

I got it done successfully, though there were some hiccups along the way.

I am interested in a companion card on seven stars. My guy is diamond and will not go to the next level, and tired of having him to check me in just to use the spa. I am in Vegas a lot and willing to pay above 300$ negotiable and all. I dont shop a lot in the stores so its not much use to me there, but I love the gym use and the no waiting in lines. Thanks

According to Darryl McEwen, as of Sept. 28th, 2017, the Seven Stars/Diamond (Aspirations Level 2) Companion Card can be assigned only to a spouse/domestic partner. Those who have designated a friend, family member, etc. will have to make a change on Feb. 1st, 2018.

This is very interesting. How do you establish a "domestic partner"? Couldn't I be living with my girlfriend or even my wife but we have driver's licenses with different addresses? Are they going to insist on a marriage certificate or joint utility bill?

I don't know if this is a rule change or not, but I just looked at the Seven Stars companion card rules and they say:

"Companion must be the Seven Stars member's spouse/domestic partner and be 21 years of age or older in the United States, or 19 years of age or older in Canada."

For the last several years I've given my companion card to girlfriends. No one ever asked if they were a spouse or domestic partner. Are they really going to start asking???

I guess the boothling can "ask" but the definition of a domestic partner is all over the map. It could be treated like "handicapped" passengers allowed to board airplanes early -- you take their word for it. See this entry from Wikipedia:

I called my host about this. My host says the "original rule" was spouses and domestic partners. Then it appears it was opened up to anyone could be the companion. But now my host says they are going back to spouses and domestic partners.

I can't imagine them asking for proof if you both show up together. Even same sex.

The change requiring spouse or domestic partner has now been rescinded, and the change is reflected in the rules posted online. Companion cards can be assigned to anyone over the age of 21 (or 19, in Canada).

Are people still looking for these? I would sell a year for $1K. I am in DC so closest to Baltimore but am in Vegas often and occasionally other locations.

I LoL’ed at this. If you’re a nice individual, I’ll grant you a full year of 7stars Companion for no charge.
