Well, Andrew, I can't get through. Been trying all day. The local evening news says anyone who has already filed need to return to the site and file the claim for the week just ended. Good luck with that. Maybe I will set my alarm for 3am and try them.
This is a disaster. I'm hearing from literally dozens of people who have been put out of work that the Nevada Unemployment website is a disaster. The website even says that it cannot yet handle claims for self employed.

I have neighbors YELLING on their phones how they can't get unemployment after losing casino related jobs and income.

I don't know anyone who has received the $1200.

The SBA put out a public statement that the EIDL program will be only $1,000 for self employed and not $10,000.

I think Nevada consumers are out of money. No cars on the roads.

Well they aren't going to get through on the phone. Only hope is online and that seems unlikely right now. Don't they have access to internet?

You know people aren't supposed to be out on the road. There is a stay at home order! The first couple weeks you were allowed to go out to parks and stuff, but now you really are supposed to only go out for necessities, like groceries and drugs.

You can't apply online now. I just copied this from the website:

    The CARES Act.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) was signed into law by the President on Friday, March 27, 2020. The Division has received guidance from the Department of Labor (DOL) and is now working on the implementation of the various programs.

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA): Unemployment support for otherwise ineligible workers, including self-employed.

Status: Federal guidance received 04/05/20. Researching vendors to provide services and system programming changes to implement. Call center selected 04/09/20. Last updated 04/10/20

Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC): 13 additional weeks of benefits for unemployment insurance exhaustees.

Status: Federal guidance received 04/10/20. Researching system programming changes that may be necessary. Last updated 04/10/20

Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC): An additional $600 added to each week of unemployment insurance or Pandemic Unemployment Assistance.

Status: Federal guidance received 04/04/20. Developing programming and testing changes necessary to ensure accurate payment. Last updated 04/10/20

Well I applied online two weeks ago. 2 weeks tomorrow, 3/31/20.

And I received an unemployment debit card. No instructions on what to do next or what to expect but I do have the card for what that's worth. (probably about $1.19)

BUT, if you are supposed to go back and refile at the end of every week, I have already missed one week and if I can't get through soon, will miss another.

I know this is unprecedented circumstances, and volume, but they have to do better than this. Not fair to the many people that live week to week and can't survive without some funds.

See the Las Vegas Review Journal updates. Self employed are still being told not to apply yet. They can't process your claim.

  6. #66
    LOL

You have to file a claim every single week kewlJ!!
You go on the site and sign in and file and the money is on your card in a day or two.
You most likely can back file from the time you enlisted.
You are allowed to bypass the weekly worksheet.

I see people out in the desert shooting or 4 wheeling every day that I go out there.
You are taking this stay at home shit too seriously.
Nobody is going to give you trouble for venturing out into the desert.
Not at this time anyway... perhaps in the future when they figure out how to enforce it with roadblocks and such.

    You guys are seriously panicking.
I go out and about every day.
Night and Day to be exact.
I go shopping or I head into the desert or up to the mountain.
I see plenty of cars on the road every single day.
Plenty of people shopping and spending money.

I see the police giving people speeding tickets and harassing the homeless.
    Evil Pricks those police are!

Everyone that I know in Vegas, who was eligible for Unemployment, has signed up online and got it.
I helped 3 people get it.
Self Employed, Professional Gamblers and others are just going to have to wait.
They might not even get it.
I posted weeks ago that if you got your 1200 Stimulus Check early it would be a miracle.
It is going by states and Nevada isn't in any hurry.

Something is going on near Boulder Station.
    I think it is a food bank/church.
They had over 2 blocks full of cars waiting in line.
The cars wrapped so far that I couldn't see the end to them and I was heading the other direction so I didn't investigate.
You can't expect these government agencies to take care of you or anybody else.
The only person that can take care of you is you!!

Here is a current photo of Nevada Unemployment.
I just logged onto the site and didn't see any problems.
We decided to let them take out the tax.
The 600 hasn't been added yet but it is retroactive.

Nice essay Mr Monet but Mr Kewlj needs to get the unemployment insurance for self employed and the website can't accommodate that now. You lost your job so you have coverage now. You aren't trying to get self employed unemployment insurance because you're a pro gambler.

I'm afraid you can't relate to Mr Kewlj's problem.

Also... you see people shopping and spending money every day? Gee, where besides supermarkets, Target and Walmart, auto repair and take out food places?

    You're Smart and I'm Stupid.
    You're right and I'm Wrong.
Your good looking and I'm not attractive.
What the Fuck do I know anyway?
Nothing, as I am a Complete Moron!
Sorry I put my nose where it does not belong.

Mr Kewlj this is the page on the state website to check for when you can apply:

It’s the same in PA as I know a few Self Employed who are waiting. The state says they have to build a new website. What a joke.

I think it's a cruel joke. The money might never get paid out. I'm waiting for just one of the business owners I know to tell me he's getting any of the SBA money including the PPP or EIDL money.

I think Congress passed the package knowing full well it would never get paid out.

When I drew unemployment I had to file paperwork every two weeks. It might be every week in Nevada. You have to stay on top of that paperwork to get the money. But you can probably do it online these days.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

Not exactly. There was an article in the Review Journal that the federal legislation REMOVED the requirements to keep reporting your job search efforts.

All day long I hear my neighbors talking about this. They're all out of work and it's all they discuss. I just want to see my $1200.

Ok, so I was dozing off and on during Governor Sisolak's (Nevada) briefing, but managed to pick up some definitive, if not good news for me, information.

The debit card that I received several days after signing up on line, means...well basically nothing except that I have successfully registered,

The governor had with him a female that was head of the unemployment operation, in Nevada, and she was answering questions and had some further bad news for me and other self employed / gig workers. While we are definitely supposed to be eligible, it may be until mid May before they get that part of the program up and running in regards to the website. I was hoping for a follow up question as to whether there would be back compensation once it was operation, or if you just become eligible at that time, but there was no such follow up.

Mid-May. That is going to be pretty harsh for gig workers like Uber drivers and others who have little or no money.

Thanks for the new info Mr Kewlj. Previous articles have said the money will be retroactive. But you're right -- what a hardship.

Right now the neighbor on my left is on her phone on her balcony yelling that she has no money. This is depressing.

    Still no $1200 for me.

It appears many should be waking up to the $1200 tomorrow morning.

As for the UC, it’s beyond crazy but it appears it will be retro, so some large back checks.

For Small Businesses, the free $10k has now been dropped to $1,000 for most self employed unless you have 10 employees. Seems too many signed up.

What did this neighbor do for a living Andrew?

On an unrelated note (certainly not related to the question about your neighbor), I wonder if so called "working girls" whether legal at one of the ranches, or 'self-employed' will qualify under the self employed gig worker special rules. technically they probably should, but probably would have to fight like hell to get it.

How does a measly $1000 help a small business, closed for months stay afloat?

Where did that info about waking up to the $1200 payments come from Boz?

The SBA said no sex businesses and no pro gamblers but we know the State Unemployment Dept will cover the gamblers. I don't know about the sex workers.

Many of my neighbors either work for casinos directly or are part time gig workers for casinos working in marketing or conventions or shows or being on call for events.

The lady next door won't shut up.
