I hope "normal" returns very soon because the government aid isn't coming fast enough.

AndrewG, I don't agree with that statement at all. If casinos reopened tonight, they would be overflowing. There are enough cooped up degenerate gamblers, and people who love to gamble for fun to fill many casinos many times over. If Vegas opened tonight, Vegas would become the Mecca for them. People would be driving from across the country non-stop to get to Vegas so they could gamble.

Here's a newsflash. The majority of the people are not that concerned about coronovirus. They are seeing through all the liberal and media propaganda. They just want to get back to work...and they want to get back into casinos throwing dice, pulling handles (really punching buttons), and holding cards (or looking at cards).

Here's the thing: People LOVE casinos...and it's because they LOVE to gamble. A stupid virus isn't going to hold them back. The first casinos to open will be so busy, the casinos will have to limit the amount of people who can enter them. One thing I can assure you is they won't be empty for two weeks.

Btw, I hope the casinos keep their check cashing policies in place, because there are going to be a lot of people who are going to want to cash their stimulus check and put it to work right away in the slot machines. This is a real service the casinos offer and shows how customer focused they are. Did you know most casinos allow their customers the ability to cash their checks right there at the casino, rather than making them waste time and gas money driving to the bank? I learned this from Kj.

You are correct Bob, most people are almost fearless of Coronavirus unless they are high risk. No one wants to sit in the bathroom with a high fever but it happens. If you are not in the high risk category, it’s obvious the odds are highly in your favor. If you are under 65 and can breathe normally you have a higher chance of dying driving in a car to get the CV test than dying from it. And as more details come out, it becomes more obvious what this is and was. Of course it sucks if you have family or friends who died. No different than the tragic Opioid Epidemic or someone getting cancer. Death sucks anyway it happens.

People want normalcy and would jump at the chance to get a piece of it back. A family dinner at their favorite restaurant, a drink at the bar, a trip to Best Buy, a night at the movies, and yes a trip to a casino.

And I believe people will spend money they probably shouldn’t, charging it on Cards. I truly believe this and it’s why I’m doubling down on Visa (V) stock. I also believe in the end the people financially hurt by this will be a lot less than the liberal media reports. And you can be sure they will search out the sob stories and push them nonstop right up until Election Day.

Gubment aid isn't coming fast enough, but bankruptcy is.
We need to open this economy up, like yesterday, or else there won't be any more road to kick the can down.

Also, grocery stores are encouraging non-contact payment options such as credit cards.

So back to the original story of this thread. For anyone not familiar with how the Las Vegas area is governed and wondering why Mayor Carolyn Goodman made this "insanity" statement rather than just go ahead and open up Las Vegas, it is be cause she has no power to do so. The Mayor of Las Vegas is for the most part a symbolic position with very little real governing.

Besides ribbon cutting ceremonies the Mayor is basically just a cheerleader for the city of Las Vegas area, which again, is really only the downtown Fremont Street area, not the strip or areas where the majority of people live. All of those areas are actually governed by the Clark county commissioners. That is the real power in governing in Las Vegas. The mayor does gavel in the commissioner meetings and sessions, but doesn't even have a vote on anything. Just bangs the gavel.

So like I said earlier, Mayor Goodman's concerns are only for the financial end and the casinos. She doesn't even have to worry about whether Hospitals would be up to the challenge, of an onslaught of cases, that could come based on neighboring California, who has done a good job of slowing the spread, but is now about to explode with new cases, or the fact that Las Vegas gets travelers from every part of the country and world. She doesn't have to worry about that because there isn't even a hospital within the "city" of Las Vegas of which she is mayor. All the hospitals are outside the city limits. The only real medical facility within the City of Las Vegas is the small Cleveland Clinic, which specializes in children's cancer treatment, located over by the Las Vegas Outlets (north). So "mayor" Goodman is free to focus solely on the financial aspect and act as cheerleader for the casino industry and say, "yeah this is insanity".

ReOpen Virgina needs to organize better like Michigan.
I'm hoping for a protest in Vegas.

2 Groups are trying to get one together here in PA for Monday. It’s 2 different groups and both seem unorganized as hell. Hopefully they can get it together , I’ll certainly make the drive.
