Of you are bringing $400 with you with the intention of putting it through a machine you might as well get an extra 10% out of it.
Wait I see what you did here... there is some conflicting use of terms here...
I don't know the Ellis rules, but I imagine they give slot play tickets or something that has to be played through at 1X before it can be cashed out... to prevent people going in, getting a 10% bonus on their change and redeeming the ticket in a bill breaker...
While ot isn't exactly free play awarded they do give you slot vouchers.
Now if we want to get really picky about it, will the vouchers played show on your P&L for the casino as your coin in or as a $440 award?
They would put $440 in "slot play" onto your account. You go to machine, download it, then play it off. No vouchers were used (at least when I did it, but I doubt they changed it).
If you want to get nit-picky, they may have added like 440,000 points to the account, which could be redeemed for $440. I don't remember if they did that, or not. I just know that some places do that, especially when giving out free-play ... sorry, SLOT PLAY, manually, because it's easier to adjust someone's points than it is to give them free-play, for whatever reason. I know at least twice, when I had free-play issues, I asked a boothling or host about it, and they said they couldn't give me free-play because their system didn't allow for that, but they gave me the equivalent value worth of points -- this wasn't at Ellis Island though, it was at other places.

Hold it. There's only one bone of contention here: the use of the term FREE PLAY.
If you bring $400 in coins to the casino, and they give you $440 of credits on your account you DO NOT have $440 of FREE PLAY. You have the $400 you brought in plus a $40 bonus which is in fact $40 of free play.
You would buy freeplay from whom? All day long where?
How would that work? The seller must travel to Montana,
to track down the world's biggest groundhog?
Axel has written several times offering to buy freeplay.
Is that what he'll pay? $10 cash for every $11 in freeplay?
Does it really matter what it's called? As long as we agree it's a good deal, that's all that matters.
Buying those promotional chips (under the name "Win Cards") for table games that MGM properties have/had is the same thing.
It would all depend on the situation.
I would not wast my time with a small amount.
If I could buy it in bulk, FROM THE CASINO, at that rate, then YES, I would do it all day long. No, I dont want to do it in dribs and drabs while having to run from casino to casino.
Would you play a variation of a 8/5 bonus VP machine all day if it was 109% payback?
I don't really want to buy it from individuals at that rate because it sets the market to high and I want to get the best deal for myself as I can.
I look at it this way. The 400 cash is converted to 440 free play. 440 free play has less value than 440 cash or 400 cash plus 40 free play because you have to run it through once. So I don’t think it is incorrect to refer to it as 440 in free play. That there was a cost for the free play is a different issue. But the cash has been converted to free play in the sense that there are rules attached to it now. You can’t just put it in your pocket.
Sounds like a good deal to me but I wouldn’t waste my time as a visitor. For someone that lives there why not.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ
No mickeycrimm. I'm tired of the bullshit.
AxelWolf starts talking about money dropping out of heaven like manna? Yeah, that's free play. But when you bring in $400 and the casino gives you $440 of credits only $40 is free play. Stop your twisted hallucinations.
