Thread: So how does this end?

  1. #1
For my money, it doesn't really end until there is a vaccine. But I don't think the United States, the world and people in general aren't going to be willing to shut down until then. So at some point they will begin opening back up. Will be interesting because casinos, sporting events, concerts and things are about the last things that should get back to "normal". Casinos may be the single worse place for germs and catching anything anyway, with the handling of chips and buttons on machines. But you can bet they will be among the first to open. Especially here in Vegas.

I guess best case scenario is that warmer weather knocks down the virus as it does with the flu and other viruses. That may give us a break for a few months. The southern states and southwest desert states will be the first to see that in the next few weeks, so we will see how that plays. By weather Las Vegas might just be a great place to be, IF you stay out of the casinos.

For the Vegas casinos, I could see the following changes...
Every other slot machine and bartop would be operational.
4 to a BJ gaming table. 8 to a craps table.
    Required masks
Games were the players don’t touch the cards
Chips will be a big issue...trying to keep them clean...they might work an in/out system. Once a chip is collected from a player, it goes to the left side of the tray and is not used again. The chip trays would be replaced on a regular basis.
Buffets are already being permanently replaced. TI and Golden Nugget are permanently closed, Mandalay Bay’s maybe next.
    Plastic glasses
What do you do with the elevators?
    Some quick thoughts......
Keep your friends close, keep your drinks closer...

Kj, it’s good to see you followed up on my recommendation and started a separate Armageddon doomsday thread.

As far as your question, how does it all end? The short answer is we all die in the end. Since most liberals don’t believe in God, they are afraid of dying. Thus, their constant fear mongering and doomsday announcements when anything is out there that might take them out.

This is why the liberals are panicking right now. And conservatives are calm and collected. Conservatives are not afraid of meeting their Maker, liberals are.

Come to think of it it’s not bad having one of these virus pandemics every once in a while to drive the liberals nutty!

Single use of chips is not realistic. That is going to be a big problem. Probably will quicken the move to chipless games like stadium blackjack (live dealer, no chips) and the various video models.

Also, your solution for table games is unrealistic. Even 3 players at a blackjack table (let alone 4) would not be spaced 6 feet apart. To be spaced 6 feet apart you could have 2 players, one at each end. and even then, you wouldn't be 6 feet from the dealer unless the dealer has 6 foot arms.

Eliminating buffets would be a change for me. Before this pandemic, I ate at casinos every single day and probably 5 of those days were at buffets, with the others being the coffee shop/café type places. If casinos were to reopen next month, I know I wouldn't be rushing to any buffet. But then again, how do you know that your server or someone in the kitchen isn't sick. And these are the exact kind of lower end income workers that aren't going to stay home if they are. They need the money, so they come to work.

can I ask where you read about TI and Golden Nugget buffets? Not that I don't believe you, but would like to read for myself. I did see on the local news that Caesars is doing an unscheduled renovation on their buffet during the closed period. Wonder what they have in mind?

    Bob21, two things.

1.) just shut the fuck up!

2.) stop polluting and ruining EVERY thread with your political bullshit. And oh yeah....Shut the fuck up!

Why don’t you shut the fuck up. This is just like something Tasha would do for attention, start a new thread about it in the Las Vegas subsection when there’s already a dozen corona threads it could easily go in.

Look asshole, first this thread is in exactly the right subsection. I live in Vegas. Work in Vegas. and while not said, the underlying thoughts and discussion was about what Vegas looks like going forward.

Furthermore, this isn't your forum. You don't get to decide who posts what and where. The owner has all but given up and abandoned this forum, turning it into anything goes, so deal with it....or not. You are always free to leave and start your own and decide who can post what and where.

    Oh that’s cute,
You tell someone to shut the fuck up and then immediately tell someone else they don’t get decide who gets to post what and where. Pot meet kettle, pipsqueek bitch.

Whatever happens Vegas is not going to be the same until this is completely solved. Macau casinos are back with most all being opened atleast 50%. How long that can last is questionable considering revenues are down close to 90% YOY.

Anyone thinking we'll be back to normal in months is deluded and in denial of reality. The smart places here have boarded there storefronts on the Boulevard. We'll have riots in the streets once the Fed subsidy to unemployment runs out, for sure. If not much sooner because so many in this town under report there tips. So they will not be whole.

Spend your time out in the desert honing your firearms skills. Because the time of need is coming.

I am not telling him to shut the fuck up about everything. I am saying this isn't a political forum. The name implies talk about casinos, and Vegas and related. Everything doesn't have to be about the fucking liberals did this and the fucking liberals are ruining that.

Okay Kj, I’ll answer your question without politics. Some will die right away from the coronavirus, and some will die later on from something else. But in the end, we’ll all die! There’s your answer.

And it’s not true I pollute EVERY thread with my political BS. I participated in one very thoughtful thread where people were discussing what would happen to you if you were thrown off a 20 story building. Never once did I bring politics into the discussion.

I have to admit, going from the coronavirus is a scam, it's just like the flu, and yeah, great idea to go to Florida in the middle of it, to the argument that it's okay if Americans die because we're Christian, it takes a certain kind of psychotic panache.

I mean, Monty Python would have had a blast with this. It's so...American.

Some will die (needlessly) playing Rambo? Seriously, though, if it comes to this, maybe, by then, one country will be at war with another.
