Alan, you should go live with Singer. You won't have to phone him at 3 am. Get it over with.

Huh?
Bring back Singer?
Does a rectum REALLLY need a hemorrhoid?
It took me all of two seconds to find a link to it. https://www.scientificamerican.com/a...bin-williams1/
Williams was diagnosed with other similar diseases, along the way before his death. He knew what was coming.
At the moment, I spend some of my time to power of attorney for an elderly friend. He is only 74, but has Lewy Body dementia. So, I know some in-depth stuff about it. In many ways, it's still a psychological puzzle. But its hallucinations of the same set of made-up persons and animals are usually benign, and even entertaining or friendly to its sufferers. People last from 4 to 8 years with it, but, again, diagnosis is complicated by the fact that few doctors know much about it. A combination of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Which part of the disease comes first translates into its relative severity. Lewy bodies are one sort of junk that, sometimes, clogs a person's brain.
I have had a fair amount of clinical experience with such patients, and can pretty well pick up on the very early signs and symptoms in others even over the internet. Another part of this experience which appeals to me. Ha. Gambling addiction is really a composite of so many other things. In this way, too, something more that supports my above academic argument about gambling per se.
Interesting. Probably doesn't belong an a gambling forum but still interesting. I am presently involved in a battle among doctors, family, nursing home etc. as to whether a client of mine is competent enough, while suffering from LBD, to execute legal documents such as her Will, Trust, etc., and even whether she can sign a deed so as to complete the sale of her home.
Thank you for the link to Robin Williams conditions, OneHitWonder. I was not aware of that. Very Sad.
As for Rob Singer, WTF is the matter with you people? No wonder this site has been what it has been for so long...just nothing of any kind of relevance. A small handful of people arguing and attacking back and forth. I guess it's the drama. Some of you seem to love and NEED the drama. And you will call me the drama Queen?
Dan made the decision based on a number of things. One being that Alan himself called for it. Several posts later Alan wrote "Rob has been out of control lately and I don't think he has made a positive contribution here in months. I mean months." Now two weeks later, in a moment of schizophrenia, Alan says "bring him back".
Dan also said a number....not one member, but several, who had not posted in months, had complained and stated that they would not participate with Singer here. Dan made the decision, to hopefully allow this site to grow to more than the attackfest that it has been. It's HIS site...respect that. This whole Singer issue since I have been here just has not been fair to Dan or anyone else that wants to participate on a grown-up site. Quite frankly some of Singers comments and attacks were illegal. With complaints filed to the right authorities, it would be Dan that gets into trouble.
If you guys don't like it, go buy and start your own freaking site and make Singer the VIP members, or better yet, follow him to whatever site he is terrorizing now. For god sakes, stop being boys and act like adults.
kewlj did you have to say "in a moment of schizophrenia"? Am I supposed to respect you for that?
No, that was harsh. But come on Alan, you called on Dan to ban Rob. And you laid out valid reasons, that he does nothing but attack and hasn't contributed anything positive for months! (I would argue much longer). Then 2 weeks later you do a complete turn-about and advocate for his return? What do YOU call that?
And you know what, I reject these statement that you make on his behalf, that there are two Rob Singers....that in real life he is a decent person. THAT is the behavior of a bully....a coward! Big man talking shit on an anonymous message board.
Yes, Rob should have been banned. But even some murderers get limited sentences of 15-25 years.
More importantly, his absence seems to have given others carte blanche to post whatever they want without a critic.
OK, then criticize them.
In the alternative, I doubt you'd be banned if you worked out something with Rob where he'd email you his responses to posts, you'd paraphrase them (using your inimitable journalistic style) and then post them under your name, saying "a little bird told me..."
That way you'd have your cake and eat it too / have it both ways: he'd technically be banned (as you urged), but his comments would once again be posted (as you urged): a win / win, wouldn't you say?
You may lack the time to go to your office for weeks on end, but something as important as this would cause you to jump like a scalded hamster.
MisterV have I posted anything here that you think comes from Rob?
By the way, Regnis why would you like Rob to return?
It goes without saying I don't run this site, Dan Druff does, and he can do whatever he wants with it. With that being said, Dan is in a tough spot. This forum isn't really known for having the greatest of information, the brightest gamblers or others in the field, or anything like that. Sure, there are interesting discussions every now and then. But those discussions almost always turn into what this site is really known for -- all the drama, bullshit, arguing, and essentially just shit-slinging.
Assuming Dan is interested in growing the site, which is likely a fair statement (although I don't want to speak for him)....he's in a shit position. Do you say no more to all the shit-slinging and other nonsense which will just kill off the forum and hope you can figure out a way to get people here? I don't even know how you'd get people to sign up here, other than ads saying "We banned Rob Singer [like every other forum], come join us!" The other route is to allow the shit-posting to continue but try to keep it somewhat under wraps (ie: the banning of Rob Stringer), but I can't imagine that can lead to a successful and prosperous forum.
If I were Dan, I'd say no more to all the shit-posting and straighten this place around, because then it would at least have a chance to succeed. Granted, I'm no honor scout or whatever, but there's plenty of more stuff I could be posting when people make outrageous claims or put up some ludicrous stuff, but there's no point in really doing that since it's not constructive in any way (IMO).
Actually there's another way but it cannot be accomplished with an absentee moderator: deleting improper posts and comments.
Dan would have to drop by more than once a week.
I think the problem is Dan is sending mixed signals. When he banned Singer, Dan specifically said the racial posts were over the line, which sort of sends the message that all other attacks...wishing aids on people, attacking a members dead spouse, etc are fair game.
Dan really needs to decide what it is he wants this forum to be and make that vision clear. A legit gambling/vegas related forum (as the name suggests) with legitimate discussions on topics related to gambling/AP/vegas or the cesspool that it has been, with a handful of members attacking each other in the most vile personal ways possible, which basically eliminates any possibility of new members participating and reasonable, discussion beneficial to anyone.
Ah yeah THAT'S the definition I meant. :o
Seriously, when I posted that I didn't mean to suggest that Alan legitimately has the mental, medical illness of schizophrenia. I was more or less saying he was flip-flopping. BUT, it was still insensitive of me. And he was either offended or is going to use the opportunity to pretend he was offended, so I apologized. It was a poor choice of words.
Mendelson is a harden television news veteran. One who wrote of how unflappable he is, at a poker game, etc, because of this. I don't think anyone has to cut him any slack in this direction, or expect that he isn't still on top of his "game". Certainly, he is far from schizophrenic. In the same way, I think, perhaps, too much manipulation on his part effectively killed this board, a long time ago. Posters are extremely sensitive to manipulation by board owners and moderators.
I believe the balance of this forum requires a "Rob" or someone like him to call out the BS. I also find him to be pretty entertaining, for the most part, although he did get to a point where his anger, whether real or fake, was over the top. I say this even tho I am 100% polar opposite with him politically. I am not a hater of people based on color, religion, origin, sexuality, etc. and I sometimes cringe at the things he says. But I also believe in free speech, even on a private forum.
WoV is doing fine, and they don't have a "Singer."
They don't allow his ilk to post there.
WOV is a dead forum with very low traffic. It does fine for the ten people who visit there.
I remember when the same was said about this forum. Now welcome to all the WOV members who post here.
It is far from dead, Alan.
Sour grapes.
As of a minute ago, these are the stats shown on the WOV forum: Members Who Have Visited the Forum Today 15
As of a minute ago, this forum had 5 members and 165 guests.
You decide what those numbers mean. Meanwhile, I see no increase in members on this forum since Rob was banned.
Small sampling over a fifty minute period.
Real probative evidence.
Not.
Half the number of people show up. 99% of the top posters are long gone. The only interesting thread (to me) is the DDoS one. I don't read even the Trump thread, anymore. Who wants to read RS and Axel, and jbjb, and Romes on drivel? Like I wrote, I thought about going back for another gig, but won't. Even the trolls are long gone. Except, of course, the Wiz and company.
Yes, but the grand old lady is not quite "dead" yet.
Dying, maybe: I'll grant you that.
Dead to me. When there are other better boards, it's dead to every one else. But then you like LarryS.
Just curious: what gambling boards do you currently consider to be "better" than WoV?
I used to feud with and flame LarryS., but over time an unspoken truce arose.
Come to find out we grew up about the same time a couple towns apart.
Never met him and never will, but I find something of value in many of his posts: obviously YMMV.
There have been a lot of crazy gambling boards, over the years. So, to have sat on the WoV all that time would have been a travesty. As with most other boards, too, people become complacent, and go away thinking that every one in the world is there, and feels the same way about it. After all, the population in general is barely scratched on all of these boards taken together. 99.9999% of the people in the real (non-internet forum) world, I think, would just say it's all a big waste of time. This is the same with anything else, though, as some like darts, but most wouldn't give it a go.
To consider a lot of boards is to see the differences, and then the shifts in psychologies and philosophies, which are extensive and follow tight-knit scripts. Shortly after the Wiz's public board began, I asked the professional opinion of someone at an internet addiction board about the Wiz's motives, etc. Not a ringing endorsement, so I was quickly ridiculed and banned. Stuff like that. Not sure that that post is still there, but I seem to recall that a lot of that thread was re-written with posts that I actually did not write. I came to see the real side of the Wiz, early on. A desperate loser who kept trading off on himself and others for a quick buck.
The interesting thing about VegasMessageBoard is that I never once felt even the slightest urge to question anyone's motives, or post anything smart-alecky or off-color. Another super or serious board is the SBR sports forum. They have a member there who became famous among gamblers in Canada for consistently beating the self-pick type sports tickets. The guy made millions over a year or two, and then was promptly harassed by the various authorities, including Revenue Canada Agency. True story. They made up and/or enforced a bunch of rules that then stopped him from buying more than a few or a hundred dollars in tickets each week. I forget or didn't know all of the details, but I asked around there until someone pointed him out to me.
Some boards, like this, are enjoyable in a different way. Alan gets himself worked up into a shit-storm, sometimes, and then acts accordingly. Singer keeps writing about how smart he is, and how dumb we are. People keep arguing with him, all the while someone else sends him another $5 for toilet paper with writing on it. Your "friend" LarryS just can't let anything go, in the sense he is compelled to try to win every argument with some sort of home-grown logic.
Anyway, why would a sports gambler get involved with Shack consistently losing money on football, when they can find some real-life ongoing success stories elsewhere? There are poker players out there making millions from home, as well, and they are interesting to get to know a bit, and to see how they do it. They're the ones who don't worry about talking about it, let alone about who gets banned from where.
In the end, I think that the best way to view gambling is to study it rather than relate to them. How they relate to each other is another story. I guess that they like to hear each other's meaningless mumbo jumbo in such fashion that it is always open to their own interpretation.
That is a very odd rationale. I used to feud with him (because he was a dick and troll), but then I found out we grew up in the same area. So he is not so bad.
You first inclination was correct. LarryS is a troll and dick so you being (sometimes) a reasonable human being, feuded with him. Finding out that you have something in common should not change your opinion. That is bizarre
That would be like if it was revealed that Stephen Paddock was from Daytona, Florida area and spent much of his youth at the beach surfing, as I did, that I would declare: "well he's not such a bad guy".
As for Wov, it has been well documented the number of members that visit daily are down. It used to average more than 300 daily, a couple years ago and now most days is about 180 and some weekend days closer to 160. That is off 40-50% from just a few years ago.
I would also argue that quality is down even more. When I joined about 6 years ago, Wov was what I called an AP-related forum. It wasn't strickly AP or blackjack like a couple other forums I had been on (BJ21), but there were a fair number of AP's, professional and recreational, and a good amount of discussions centering around AP, gambling and vegas. Now there are only a handful of legit AP's and most of the discussion is non AP, gambling and vegas related.
There is no two ways about it....Wov is on the decline....but hey they still have mighty Norm Wattenberger , the "forum Nazi", as a contributing member. Well, not really contributing on a regular basis, Norm shows up every couple of months to promote his site or some feature of his site.
I think forums are down accross the board. Gambling forums probably top the list of the slow downs. It seems like it's the same gambling stuff rehashed over and over on any gambling forum. Let me know how WOO is doing and far as generating a profit. According to one of the owners its doing well. I see they just bough Mikes VP app. I seem to rember they said Mike could stay on as long as he wished.
I don't know about other types of forums. I have never belonged to or participated on any forum that wasn't somewhat related to gambling, AP or vegas. So please do tell us the trends at the sewing, cooking and shopping forums you participate at. ;)
Sure, I will agree that most of the gambling related, especially AP related forum that I have participated at, are on the decline. Trying to be objective, I would say there are two reasons. One is the demographics of gambling/and especially AP enthusiasts. Most AP's are older, even older than you (if that is possible) Specific to card counting, the peak period was like the 90's. I was in grade school. So as these card counting AP's die out and/or just leave the game (and forums), there are far fewer younger, serious card counters replacing them. Although I am not as familiar with machine play, it seems similar, the peak period was a while back, maybe not quite as far, maybe the early 2000's. But it's a similar situation, more are dying out or leaving the game than younger guys getting into it.
Second reason, personalities and egos of the people involved in this area, I suppose myself included. I think this is a common trait or characteristic of AP's that play 'seriously' or for a living. And that leads to many confrontations, feuds, pissing contests and eventually bannings from sites and forums. Bannings of good, knowledgeable experienced players (for all their/our faults) that can't easily be replaced.
WOO is a very unique site based on the mathematics of gambling and is not part of the discussion of gambling forums. Wov is the forum, not WOO.
As for Mike, trying to remain objective and overlook my personal feelings concerning his actions concerning me, Mike is a draw at Wov. He is the "cult leader". Of course the online casino folks that own the site, want him to stay active as long as possible. But he has had his payday, he is not as active, nor as enthusiastic as he used to be. You being a Mike groupie will disagree, but to me he is just going through the motions. Every once in a while he buckles down (probably at owners suggestion) and knocks out a few game reviews or evaluations, but he is not the same Mike as before the sale. He is just going through the motions.
That "discovery" did not lead in itself to an ability to coexist; it came after the fact.Quote:

I have a number of different gambling forums in my bookmarks, but this one is my favorite in terms of interesting day-to-day ongoing discussions. And probably the one I feel most comfortable posting in. While I find interesting reading elsewhere, in terms of slot machine, restaurants, hotels, and comps, more actual discussion goes on here. I don't feel comfortable always chiming in on discussions in other forums because I'm never one of the clique as I do not as a rule do the whole meet and greet, get together with other forum members to party thing, which seems to be a focus at a lot of the forums. I will post to answer specific questions but generally don't participate in discussions. I also don't feel comfortable posting trip reports, at least live - I tried it once and felt horribly uncomfortable. So those are two barriers to fitting in that I really don't feel here. I don't know any of you personally, although I did introduce myself to Alan once in Vegas, and I don't feel that I need to.
A lot of forums aren't as active as they used to be. I rarely visit WOV as what discussions I would find interesting usually move very slow. VMB moves quickly but there are a lot of inane repetitive posts about which hotel is best to stay at to wade through - I mostly go there to do specific searches. In others it is a lot of trip reports with pages of good luck and then pages of way to gos and sorry you didn't do betters with trip details somewhere in the middle. But even within that and alone there is still a lot of new content out there in terms of comp changes, restaurant reviews, things to do in Vegas besides gambling, that are interesting and have helped me plan my trips.
I should think the answer to that one is fairly obvious.
I'll give you one scenario:
A sharp man becomes aware of a threat and attempts to neutralize it.
A not so sharp man becomes aware of a threat and does little other than say his prayers.
Action vs. Hope.
There are other scenarios I could give you, but that would not be necessary for a sharp man, who would quickly catch my drift.
Would you like some more examples?
You are talking about a guy you never meet in person. I have met a few people who seem very sharp behind their computeres, they are very well written and even poetic at times, they make great arguments, they seem as if they know alot and are very intelligent, but in real life they are kinda idiots who can barley navigate though their day while living paycheck to paycheck.
Yes, but as we'll never meet, the point is moot.
Most of us know each other on these solely by the content of our writings.
I've no idea as to his personal appearance, where he lives, how he spends the hours of his existence, nor do I care to know.
V and S are an oreo sandwich at http://thepenaltybox.freeforums.net/...ral-discussion .
I guess that you are only as sharp as your last response.
[QUOTE=MisterV;53477]You seem to equate stupidity, and for that matter, religion, with prayer. Or, are you afraid of inaction or passiveness? For brevity, I will say only that many men much more smarter and effective in life than you or I have indulged in prayer and other scientific speculation.
A Catholic falls off the subway platform into the path of an oncoming train.
If reasonably sharp, he'd get up and climb back onto the platform; if not so sharp, he'd pray that the train doesn't hit him.
Inaction and passivity are fine in their place, for example while asleep or engaged in contemplation..
I do not believe in god, and believe that only when and if the people of the world cast off the yoke of religion can there ever be a chance for true world peace; as a student of history I've seen the horrors perpetrated (and still being perpetrated) upon people in the name of religion.
Go ahead, believe what you want, but if you really want to play this game, try to prove that god exists.
I'll concede that there are many fundamental mysteries that I do not understand, primarily the origin of matter and the notion of time.
I was raised catholic and as a teen rejected the church's dogma as silly; c'mon, a virgin Mary? A holy ghost? Original sin? Limbo? Puh-lease!
Any thoughts on his being allowed to use the service elevator? I think that increases the hotel's liability exposure. I never knew the use of the service elevator to be a perk for VIP's.
Presumably he worked through a host; what does the host say about him, his proclivities, his personality?
So far as him using the service elevator, why shouldn't he have been permitted to?
Casinos do much more than that to indulge the quirks of valued gamblers there on a hosted comp.
Sometimes, the best action is no action. To take what information we have, say, and then sit on it to see what develops. And, not to micromanage our lives. Furthermore, I shouldn't have to go on, and believe what I want or not. It's not a matter of that. Especially, not to try to prove out God or atheism in either of a plethora of ways. I don't want to make such a "game" of things.
Einstein wrote that religion is a mix of imagination and fear, but believed in a whole. Yes, it was that stubborn belief which lead him in vain further away from the scientific community, more discoveries, and to write in a letter to one of two or three remaining friends, a week before his death, that his life was a failure in many ways because his equations resisted further application and solution because he had lost his imagination to think in other ways. He prevailed as a man. He lived his philosophies consistently in his science. And it showed. The other week, I put an old, Feynman lecture on television (off the internet). As my LBD friend, and I watched, I noticed how struck he was by his charmed professorial presentation. Another sort of show that holds his attention, at least intermittently, is Penn and Teller. The practiced misdirection or patter of the magicians who attempt to fool them. They do for my friend what the medications can't, and substitute for the anti-psychotic ones which are not allowed him because those will quickly and irrevocably worsen his condition. I guess what I'm getting at, even if not consciously working to, is that there is such a thing as a whole person, as much more or less than a sum of parts.
Your story of the train reminds me of one from a deceased uncle. It's about a storm on an island. God asks an old woman for the reason that she didn't get on the boat of a local who came around to give her a ride off the island. The woman replied that she was waiting for a (big and fancy) boat from God. In life, we must embrace what comes around. There will always be a first and last time for every thing. I think that the Catholic in question could be forgiven for first considering to get off the tracks. At any rate, it's extremely hard to imagine someone so instinctively devout as the old woman who was lost in the storm. Perhaps, the universe as a whole works in mysteriously simple ways.
How is religion responsible for atomic weaponry, mass poverty, over population, CO-2, and on and on? What sort of chicken coop for all but the extremely rich financially will be good enough for you? To which part of the galaxy would you have the ones you don't like retreat? I guess that you equate also all of these bad things with religion. But there is a problem with thinking that religion is the Devil. A logical problem which should immediately tip you off to something wrong with your thinking, even though, as I already noted, I wouldn't set about looking or not for God.
I don't know if any of you are checking on it, but some forensic shooting experts have come forward and said there were multiple shooters based on the audio of the site and the state of the room at Mandalay. And these people aren't conspiracy freaks. Basically, you can reconstruct distances fired based on bullets traveling faster than sound.
I suspect there's been some serious misdirection by the authorities. Whenever something has not been addressed, I get cynical. What I mean is -- if audio forensics proved or strongly suggested a single shooter, that would have been trotted out as proof of a single shooter. It wasn't, yet that kind of analysis has undoubtedly been done. So there's probably a reason it hasn't been offered in service of the "lone gunman" scenario that was rammed down our throats four hours after the event.
So what? I wash my balls regularly....don't you?
I don't have a problem with LarryS being a male nurse or health care worker or whatever the politically correct term is. It's a noble profession. Nor do I have a problem with him washing balls for a living....the world needs more clean balls. :)
But it is funny stuff! :D Axel gets credit for the "ball washing" thing. He said it and Larry immediately went off the deep end and the more it stuck, the more infuriated Larry became. It was a funny meltdown to watch.
The worst thing for "Vegas" is if it is known that more than one gunman was involved. Then the threat of a repeat becomes greater. So the last thing they want to say -- unless they are forced to -- is that there is/was an organized plot to attack Vegas.
As long as it remains a "lone wolf" they can claim that it's back to normal.
Multiple shooters?
Where'd the other guy shoot from?
I don't see any other broken windows other than in Paddock's suite, and nobody else left it once the shooting started.
Was watching Todd on "Live at the Bike" last night when someone in the chat said he looked like Paddock.
I saw video and heard audio which was purported to be gunfire from the fourth floor. No one has of course confirmed it was gunfire, and I never saw anything about broken windows there or if there was a balcony or some other opening.
Now that we know that the security guard was shot five minutes before the gunfire started, and that the police didn't get to the room till well after the gunfire started, there is the possibility (and I emphasize possibility) that there was a second shooter who escaped before the police arrived.
I don't know. But I really do want to know. And the inconsistencies and how the stories change make it both curious and worrisome.

The people alleging other shooters are saying the other shots came from roughly half the distance -- 220-250 yards, and there's a debate about location, as three different locations are being discussed -- the roof of a gas station, an apartment complex roof, and a mountain of dirt at a construction site.
There's also a criticism of the look of the room -- which should, according to some, have many more shell casings and burns on the rugs from the temperature of the shell casings. The argument is that literally (at minimum) hundreds more shell casings should have been found in the room.
I don't know enough about any of this to have much of an opinion. All I know is that reportage-wise, usually we get pretty precise information on rounds fired from weapon A and then weapon B and stuff like that. But we've had no summaries of rounds recovered or how many from which weapon or anything like that. Paucity of information usually tells you more than whatever information is actually released.
I never heard anything before about these other shooting locations.
As far as the shell casings... it was a big suite, look at the number of windows it had. Since the guns were located near the windows I suspect that's where the shell casings were. Where he shot himself may not have been near the windows or the actual guns.
The internet is going nuts with conspiracy theories. A generation raised on 1 hour crime dramas, NCIS, Law and Order, etc. Clear as a bell photos of perps in and out of their hotel rooms, movements tracked minute by minute. All wrapped up in an hour.
Most people have no idea how little security exists in Las Vegas hotels. If you try and rip off the casino, armed security will be on the scene in moments. A gunman in a hallway of the hotel, unless a guest reports it, probably goes unnoticed. The hotel guests are protected by poorly trained, unarmed "security guards" who call back to their boss to report a problem who then may call 911.
The hotels are worried about drunks and not hassling the guests. Hopefully, this is going to change. I was on jury duty a few months ago and it was TSA type security to get in the building, armed sheriffs, metal detectors, pockets emptied, wands and pat downs.
How would everyone feel about all luggage, bags, backpacks, etc going through a scanner prior to checking in the hotel?
I have read similar things. I know nothing about guns so I can't make any judgement. The sequence of shot sounds in some of the personal videos that have been posted on youtube do not line up, if you know how gunfire sounds, with how the sequences would be using those attachments the shooter was supposedly using to make regular guns fire like automatics. Some of the sequences are similar to what an AK-somenumber automatic firearm would sound like. Because of all the tall buildings any recording would include not just the sound from actual shots but the sound of the echos those shots made, but even that does not explain the differences. One personal video I remember being specifically mentioned was one by a taxi cab driver.
I believe there is way more to this than we have heard and will maybe ever hear.
I'm going to take a longshot conspiratorial stab here.
With the manpower on the case, and in the interests of public comfort, if all of the ducks lined up in a row -- audio analysis, shell casings at the site matching type and number found in the Mandalay room, and so on -- then if all of the ducks lined up, we would be told ASAP. It is a "one-shooter" case and there are plenty of people on it from multiple agencies. It is not that complicated to add up bullets on the concert site with shell casings and match the weapons all up. Ammunition in the room has to match ammunition at the site and in the fuel tanks and so on.
If, however, things do not add up, we would probably see some running in place by authorities and no reference at all to matching casings to bullets and no reference to audio analysis. We would get contradictory gibber jabber. So I suspect there is an issue.
I believe a great effort will be made to protect the MB. Gambling and money are the life blood of Vegas and not much will be allowed to threaten the cash cow. Liability issues are going to be huge for somebody, and the MB is going to get their share, but my guess is they will not be left holding the bag.
During my 8 years living here in vegas, I have come to realize there is a concerted effort to protect the strip and less so downtown from all the crime, abuses, thefts, and even rapes that take place. Tourism is the bread and butter for this valley.
I don't know exactly how this comes about, who is involved, but on the local television news, you rarely see stories of crime on the strip, unless it is something big, like someone gets shot or the incident a few years ago, where someone tried to mow down pedestrians with a car. Those stories are just too big to cover up. Downtown crime is reported a little more, because that is almost part of the lure of downtown. It is known as the seedier area. Even tourists would expect more crime. But on the strip, they want tourists to feel safe and comfy.
Now of course, this Mandalay Bay massacre is way too big a story, for this kind of coverup/or putting a lid on it. And it involves way more than local reporters and newspapers. It is much harder to put a lid on national newscasts.
So the truth will come out. I have no problem with the timeline involving the MB security guard changing as more info was learned. That is what an investigation is about. Personally, I don't think the local authorities have handled any of this very well, including the hour, 8 minutes it took to burst into the shooters room. Thank god, he stopped shooting and killed himself after 11 minutes, but that doesn't appear to be a result of anything Metro did.
You can give a little leeway to Metro as this kind of thing at this magnitude, is not the norm. They are way out of their league, despite that they have "practice mass casualty drills" twice a year. One can only hope that while it is Sherriff Lombardo that hold the news conferences, it is really the FBI running the investigation at this point.
I don't know, KJ. This is getting really weird. It's just been reported that Paddock's home in Reno was "broken into" last night and entrance was gained through the front door, although "not exactly sure how they gained entry." Police were called because neighbors saw a light on in the home.
Sounds as if someone had a key. I know, I know. Just call me a genius.
You're telling me there wasn't any kind of surveillance on the house? No cameras in the rooms if there wasn't direct surveillance? You've gotta be kidding me.
"Nothing seemed to be damaged or missing." Well, that's comforting.
What the hell is going on with this investigation?
Couple of things:
1. The LA Times has just reported that Paddock started shooting 40 seconds after the guard was wounded... not six minutes later like the police said.
2. This changing time line is a real problem. If they can't get the time line straight how can we be sure of anything else.
Rob Singer wrote a commentary on the shooting/Paddock on my website here: http://alanbestbuys.com/id362.html I post these unedited.
He was killing the ratings, in a bad way, at GamblingForums.com . I outright warned him and others there, a year or two before the admin there started forcing him off, who the admin is, and what the admin will do to some of the prolific forum members after ratings started to climb. LarryS proved himself as someone's bitch. A stupid bitch. He now has a well-earned degree from bitch academy. Now, he's V's bitch, I guess. The reason that V has no real interest in him outside of their new "forum" (with "tough guy" idiot FACE from WoV to "protect" them. Lol.)
Really?
Seemed to me that the place was a ghost town til he started posting regularly.
Whatever.
He's not my "bitch," he's nobody's "bitch."
Just as Singer isn't Alan's "bitch."
BTW, I haven't checked in at GF since the psycho admin threw me out; how is the traffic there these days?
It was a ghost town, and he built it single-handedly. But, he was never what any serious forum would want in the long run. His excessive profanity, etc.
I gave that forum up when I warned you guys. With lots of background info on the admin, but nothing will convince a bunch of wannabe gamblers.
He was GF's bitch.
Recent update. More than 40 victims still in the hospital, most in serious condition. I guess it goes without saying that if you are in the hospital nearly 2 weeks after the shooting, you had some pretty serious injuries.
But on the positive side, a 27 year old female, shot in the forehead, woke up yesterday after being in a coma since the shooting. And, if I am not mistaken, the death rate has not risen since the morning after the shooting, despite many very serious injuries. Kudo's to the medical professionals.
Alan, you just keep propping this fraud up. The story you told was that Rob "might have met the shooter ten years ago" and that maybe the guy recognized Rob from his GT articles to Rob definitely met him and the guy definitely recognized Rob from his picture in GT. That's a bunch of bullshit on you and Rob's part. The other bullshit is Rob portraying himself as a regular $100 machine player. Have you ever read Rob bragging about a $400,000 W2-G? Hell no! You have heard him brag about a couple of $100,000 W2-G's over a ten year period. Those are $25 denom level and he only had two in ten years. The guy wasn't even close to being a high roller.
And, of course, Rob had to get his misleading dig in that AP's are addicted gamblers. What a bunch of bullshit. Real AP's don't sucker gamble which is what an addicted gambler does. Just more stupid bullshit from neurotic internet troll Rob Singer, and you are his enabler.
The biggest bullshit of all in this article is Rob calling himself a professional gambler. Get the fuck out of here.
Alan, if you really want to get to the bottom of something then get to the bottom of this supposed G2E forum Rob was supposed to have hosted. What was the forum supposed to be about? Who invited Rob to host it? Did it actually go down? Who were the other forum members? What was discussed?
But, first, let me give you the answer to all of the above. It was total bullshit. Another fraud perpetrated by Slob Dinger.
I have to admit -- allowing Argentino to post something like that, and propping him up in the intro as if Alan had factual knowledge of what Argentino says, is irresponsible.
I also have to admit, the idea that Alan refused to read my package of verifying information, while posting this kind of thing from Rob without corroborating evidence, really bothers me personally. It makes me feel as if Alan made some decision to treat Claimant A one way and Claimant B in a completely different fashion. Of course, that's Alan's choice. But it shouldn't be any journalist's choice. The idea that Alan would accept at face value without evidence what Rob says, but wouldn't even read material to undercut Rob's posts regarding me, makes Alan more of a problem than Rob, in my mind.
Just highly irresponsible in general, misleading, and personal insulting to me. But that's okay.
My first suggestion: I think some responsible soul, taking Rob's story and Alan's verification at face value, should call the FBI and let them know about Rob's insights and Alan's knowledge that Rob is a truth-teller. That should get the ball rolling.
Alan always wears his rose coloured glasses for his butt boy Singer.
Thanks Alan, I enjoyed Rob's commentary.
Is Rob posting on any other forums now? He has an account at Gambling Forums, but hasn't posted or logged in there since 2016.
For years Rob has been saying that AP's add in the comps to call it a win. Or phantom bucks as he calls it. But now he is saying the shooter wasn't an AP. WTF? You can't have it both ways, Rob. You say he wasn't an AP but he was doing exactly what you accuse AP's of doing. Whats up with that?
