Al's influence was quite pervasive, here is a pinball machine backglass reflecting such:

No matter what anyone thinks about Al Jolson they can't deny a few facts.
- He brought Jazz Music to the mainstream and made it acceptable.
- Supposedly, he fought constantly for minorities and their rights.
- Over 20,000 people showed up to his funeral, Bob Hope paid tribute over short-wave radio.
He died while playing cards, probably poker lol.
Even on Deaths Door he played it up Big.
He was quoted as saying: "Oh... oh, I'm going."
What a Ham!
I mentioned the movie Thief (1981) so watch it and watch it again and again.
I uploaded this scene because nobody else has it but I find it funny.
You got an 8 year old Black, Chink Kid... we'll take him.
It's a crummy upload from my phone.

Thief was a great movie. I lucked out - there wasn't anything PG or G playing at (roughly) the same time so my mom allowed me to see with her even though it was rated R.
Hi Monet, I have completed my viewing of the Ninth Configuration. My favorite scene was the bar scene (revenge is sweet). I noticed cult actor Richard Lynch played the biker of the same first name. The leader of the gang (Stanley) was played by Steve Sandor according to IMDB, and I didn't realize he was the legendary Darkwolf in the animated movie Fire and Ice which I saw and really enjoyed when it came out in 1983. Of course neither of these guys is still alive since this movie you recommended was made in 1980. All these movies we watch from the 70's and 80's (and before) are just reminders of how short life is. The sergeant who protested wearing the Nazi uniform was terrific and I mistakenly thought he was a patient during the opening minutes of the film (obviously the artifact of keeping the audience guessing who is a patient and who isn't and who is in commend and who isn't was well done and probably helped this film achieve its cult status).Quote:

Thanks for your breakdown.
It deals with a very serious topic that I often ponder on.
Many people ask why God allows all the Evil in the world to exist and continue?
Killer Kane offers the rebuttal that makes the most sense.
God has a plan and the end result or finished product can only be achieved the way it is playing out.
I'm guessing every other possibility can not get to the optimal end result unless it is done this specific way.
Personally, I like the ending with the Freeze Frame and the Sign that God does exist and there is an afterlife.
It certainly is a very difficult subject and most of us are very confused about it, myself included.
This is the sort of movie that you have to watch a few times to appreciate.
It's another allegory in the way that Shoot (1976) is.
You can watch the movie and just enjoy the surface or you can try to peel all the layers that are hidden inside.
Tough Movie for most people with the pacing and screwball comedy but it certainly made me think and that is usually what I want in a story.
I liked the movie version of Speed Racer too so my advice or analysis isn't very reliable.
It seems like Cutshaw was cured prior to Killer Kane's suicide making the act unnecessary from that perspective. The suicide should have been written to be caused by Kane not being able to handle the guilt of killing even more people (at the bar). I guess that's why I am not a movie script writer.
Fuck It.
I'm on this Train Again!!
My name's Louden, Louden Swain.
Last week I turned 18.
I wasn't ready for it.
I haven't done anything yet.
So I made this deal with myself.
This is the year I make my mark!

That's pretty cool that you got to see it in the theaters and your mom let you.
Those were the days when parents just let you be a kid.
You could have a sip of beer, play outside all day and many other things kids can't or don't do today.
That movie is Epic with the Tangerine Dream Soundtrack and Cinematography.
Not to mention that Caan actually learned how to crack safes from the real life robbers and cops on the set.
Some of the cops and robbers didn't get along as they had long time grudges.
He talks about it on the dvd commentary which is really fun to listen to him watch the movie along with you and talk about every scene.
He did that for Rollerball too.
DvDs were cool when the actors/directors commented through the whole movie for you.
Another great movie where Oliver Stone runs you through it is Salvador.
IMO it is a better movie compared to Platoon.
James Woods is amazing in that movie and we see Jim Belushi in it right after his first role in Thief.
Platoon gets all the accolades because we as Americans are more attached to Vietnam compared to San Salvador.
We can't really relate to that country because we weren't as directly involved sending our sons to war.
People will be eating you ground up in their wimpy burgers and not know it.
Back to work Frank...
Not that it matters but I found this interesting.
I went back to watch some of the commentary on the Thief DvD.
Turns out it was Michael Mann and James Caan sitting down in a relaxed setting watching the movie and talking you through it.
Really good feel to it as they were genuine in their stories and discussion.
At the end of the movie when the credits were rolling they actually were watching the names and giving people props.
James Caan joked to Mann to never call him again because Michael invited him to breakfast and once he trapped James he sat him down to do this commentary lol.
Caan even joked that he should of asked DeNiro or Pacino to do it because he was making the movie Heat at the time.
James probably felt a bit slighted that he wasn't asked to be in that movie.
He said he hoped that him and Mann could team up in the future to do another movie and Mann quickly quipped "Absolutely" without missing a beat in the conversation!
It seems that he shined him on lol.
I thought that was funny but the commentary cut off in mid-sentence after the credits rolled by which kinda left you a bit empty because you just didn't want the discussion to end.
Some of these DvD commentaries really give you a good experience like you're in the room with them.
Its a good but odd feeling.
Maybe its just me but its enjoyable for movie fanatics or buffs.
On a related note I went on a rampage over at Ebay and bought 8 Michael Keaton Movies.
I'm excited!
It doesn't take much to excite me.
I was just reading that they are thinking about rebooting Superman and making Clark Kent black or if you prefer: African American. Anyways, how does that work? I mean don't you have to make all of Krypton black people and wouldn't you make Lois Lane black and the rest of the daily planet? What about the Asians or American Indians? Why do they get snuffed? Why can't we have a Chinese Superman?? They might as well just make Superman a Transgender so Redietz and his progressives can be happy. While we are at it we can't forget about the midgets... I mean the small people. Make Superman an 8 year old Black Chink kid. IF I didn't have to take care of two people in this world I would head for the mountains and do a Jeremiah Johnson or Liver Eating Johnson if you prefer. I'm sure you all have seen that movie but if not check it out. Robert Redford is pretty good in Jeremiah Johnson (1972). I get emotional when things start going really good for him and his Betty Crocker Family only to be raped, killed and pillaged. *spoiler alert*
Yes I enjoyed Jeremiah Johnson, however it was so many years ago I forgot most of it (when I saw your post about this movie I was reminded of Davy Crockett, but I'm sure a rewatch would give me deeper insight).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Nv1BkoFUC0
I didn't watch Black Panther but I might be interested in Black Vulcan!
Maybe they won't make Black Superman, Clark Kent.
Maybe he will be another person from the same planet but Black.
I can live with that moreso.
Not that I watch any recent Super Hero Movies.
Last one I think I watched was Iron Man 2 and maybe some of the Wolverine ones but shit they got boring for me lol.
Completely Forgettable.
I watch JJ kind of religiously.
Story is based on a real guy who ate the raw liver of his enemies.
If you like that sort of movie you might enjoy Charlton Heston in The Mountain Men (1980).
I love that Fucking Movie lol... its EPIC.
Especially if you are in the right frame of mind for it.
Just bought it for 7 dollars on Ebay since I have been meaning to do that.
I can't find a free version and not sure how youtube got this crystal clear HD version but damn I'm hyped to watch it again lol.
Video unplayable on this site as you have to be directed to youtube.
Original Trailer in the second clip but that trailer doesn't do it justice.
Not a bad thing though... nice to see older trailers when they never gave any of the movie away.

lol... I forgot about this skit.
Back to BlackFace.
Howard Stern is WOKE these days but years ago...
Movin on up with George Jefferson!
"I love all people except the Chinks." - Howard Stern -
I'm surprised youtube hasn't taken this stuff down yet lol.
Video Two is over the top but its funny to see how different Stern was.

Thanks Monet, very funny stuff. Along those lines I very recently watched a 1972 radio interview with famous trumpeter Al Porcino that shows just how much American culture has changed from then until now (I assume it's real - it seemed so over the top by today's standards):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikFrPt7ZCFs
That started out tame, soft and boring but boy did it pick up about 5 or 6 minutes in.
Thanks for posting.
That interviewer was bad at interviewing and he was scared lol.
He didn't know how to respond.
Or maybe he just set this guy up to get him going.
Good Radio!
Ironic that he said he has been BlackBalled for 10 years... BlackBalled :)
I enjoy Big Band Music almost as much as Classical.
Bird is a good movie though.
Sure no problem Monet, glad you enjoyed it. I am seeking out interviews of jazz musicians, not always but often from some years ago. Usually they are so mellow and laid back that it creates a nice relaxed mood in the viewer. Then there are the odd ball gems like this one we watched. I really enjoy some of the Miles Davis interviews - he's usually quite ascerbic towards the interviewer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KllwtKMtYTA
I'm guessing nobody gonna like this fluff but I've enjoyed it since 1993.
I like Shakespeare though.
Pretty good adaptation and easier to follow Early English Modern Language or Elizabeth English if you prefer.
Very difficult to find a Shakespeare Comedy turned into Film.
They usually leave that for Television or Live Performances.
This thread stared with Keanu Reeves as John Wick so this movie is fitting.
You like John Wick?
You like Michael Keaton?
You want some Diversity with Denzel Washington?
You like those Satanic Underworld Movies with Kate Beckinsale?
Well, here they all are together, doing Shakespeare!
You even get Ken and Em before their Divorce.
Usually its a seven year itch but Kenneth was a bit early with 5 or 6.
I missed this in the movie theaters but watched it with my Aunt at home.
She didn't like it.
I loved it and still do.
Sigh No More.
Into Hey, Nonny... Nonny.
Ok, Ok... I watched it again last night at 2am and cried like a little baby.
That's just me though.
Lot's of Suppressed and Repressed Emotions deep down inside of me that I will continue to push down further.
Let's be honest... we're all Fucked Up.
I find the end scene to be a whirlwind with all that fluff, dancing, celebration, music and visuals.
According to the Legend they used one camera and only one take!!
That's Impressive!
Gonna be tough to find people to make movies like this anymore.
Those days are gone.
Quote: "Is it not strange that sheep's guts should hale souls out of men's bodies?"
Translation: The plucking of the lute strings, being made of guts, makes music that stirs emotions.
Even in the strongest of men.
Free on Tubi... link provided.
Crystal Clear SD Version too.
I want my dvd money back!
Much Ado About Nothing (1993)

Interesting Note:
Denzel Washington is in production doing Shakespeare again.
This time as Macbeth.
Frances Macdormand to play Lady Macbeth which I find as an odd pairing.
I can't knock Denzel Washington though.
He made it work in the Magnificent Seven which IMO was a really good remake.
You usually don't see great remakes but I caught that one in the theaters.
The wide shots with the Cinematography were amazing.
I hope that wasn't CGI because they fooled me if it was.
I found the story very entertaining and it had a very dark end scene that seemed more realistic, to me that is.
I don't think anyone can beat Roman Polanski's version of Macbeth (1971).
That being said I wouldn't bet against Denzel.
He is really good at what he does.
If you prefer Tragedy over Comedy which I usually do.
You can find this version of Macbeth at this link provide at School Tube.
Not sure how safe the website is.
I found it elsewhere before but can't remember where.

Thanks for the reco Monet. I've heard of the movie, but I don't remember seeing it.
Certainly not for everyone and I highly doubt that it appeals to many members on this board.
Concentrating on Shakespeare can be much more difficult compared to the Ninth Configuration.
Although, some people have said that the Ninth Configuration has a direct correlation with the works of Shakespeare.
Hence the whole discussion/scene about Hamlet in the middle of the movie.
Some reviewers have mentioned that Hamlet and the Ninth Configuration go hand in hand.
It all comes down to personal taste.
One mans John Wick 3 is another mans Much Ado About Nothing.
Its all basically a waste of time that I'm sure God is frowning upon.
What can I do though... I'm hooked.
Many people don't like Kenneth Branagh's version of Hamlet.
Not everyone can listen to him basically read 4 hours of the play to you.
I for one think the scene right before intermission is worth the price of admission.
For an easier version, one could always watch Mel Gibson do it.
He does it well IMO.
One of the most enjoyable college courses I took focused on Greek and Roman comedy in translation.Quote:

It's powerful to watch and listen to but you really have to watch it over and over to really understand what is being said.
This point makes a good argument for reading the works rather than watching.
Give reading the 2 minute speech a try first and if you have time go back and watch it.
It also works pretty good if you read along as he speaks it.
I find it to be a rare treat or blessing that we have these works along with classical music some 400 years later.
To put that into perspective, think about the Torah or the books of the Bible.
Mind Boggling.
But you know... you all got twitter and interwebs.
Who needs books?
How all occasions do inform against me,
And spur my dull revenge! What is a man
If his chief good and market of his time
Be but to sleep and feed? A beast, no more.
Sure, he that made us with such large discourse,
Looking before and after, gave us not
That capability and godlike reason
To fust in us unused. Now, whether it be
Bestial oblivion, or some craven scruple
Of thinking too precisely on th' event—
A thought which, quartered, hath but one part wisdom
And ever three parts coward—I do not know
Why yet I live to say “This thing’s to do,”
Sith I have cause and will and strength and means
To do ’t. Examples gross as earth exhort me.
Witness this army of such mass and charge
Led by a delicate and tender prince,
Whose spirit with divine ambition puffed
Makes mouths at the invisible event,
Exposing what is mortal and unsure
To all that fortune, death, and danger dare,
Even for an eggshell. Rightly to be great
Is not to stir without great argument,
But greatly to find quarrel in a straw
When honor’s at the stake. How stand I then,
That have a father killed, a mother stained,
Excitements of my reason and my blood,
And let all sleep—while, to my shame, I see
The imminent death of twenty thousand men,
That for a fantasy and trick of fame
Go to their graves like beds, fight for a plot
Whereon the numbers cannot try the cause,
Which is not tomb enough and continent
To hide the slain? Oh, from this time forth,
My thoughts be bloody, or be nothing worth!
I watched Amadeus (1984) again last night.
I watch it one or two times a month.
I can't understand why I never see this movie being played on any television channels and that includes the movie channels.
Fucking Great Movie that won 8 Academy Awards and never gets any air time.
Seems Evil but I guess nobody has interest in these 3 hour movies anymore.
At least I have the DvD and can enjoy it from time to time.
Even though it isn't historically accurate I certainly do enjoy it for the entertainment and music.
Free HD Version can be found here and perhaps a few other places that I didn't research...
https://www.operaonvideo.com/amadeus-full-movie-1984/
Might as well enjoy the trailer if you prefer...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9AQycI9ezE
Not as good of a movie but certainly a Fun Movie.
I like how they reference F. Murray Abraham and Amadeus at the police station.
Of course I am talking about The Last Action Hero (1993).
The movie also has one of my favorite actors, Anthony Quinn but I didn't enjoy his performance in this particular movie.
Of course I always planned to work this movie and scene into the conversation :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5egsTEUS17s
I watched the Elephant Man (1980) again just now.
I don't watch it too often because I get too emotional.
I seen it on TV late one night when I was 7 years old or so.
Cried like a little girl and so this movie always Fucks Me Up.
Great Movie though that never gets any airtime like Amadeus.
They should play this movie on TV and the Movie Channels more often though.
I always want to be nicer and help people more after watching this movie.
Not sure if you can find it for free.
I overpaid paying 15 dollars to own it on AppleTV.
AppleTV will be the death of me as you usually pay double for movies and you don't get hard copies.
The convenience is great for lazy people like myself.
The music and imagery in this movie is powerful.
Whenever I think I got it bad I watch this movie and realize what a horrible person I truly am.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQJdFwVXBTs
I agree, another Great Movie.
Not as good but still hits the heart.
Something about the Black and White David Lynch Emotional Imagery and Ride.
Seems more raw and in your face.
Don't get me wrong, I cry during Mask too, just not as much.
I haven't thought about that movie for a few years now so thanks for mentioning it!
I need to view "Blue Velvet" again.
I've probably recommended this movie already or talked about it a few times on this site.
This movie is a hidden gem IMO.
It has too many parallels to my own life to list and my father looked a little like Nick Nolte.
So it always hits me kind of hard.
I grew up watching North Dallas Forty, Teachers, 48 Hours and many other Nick Nolte movies.
He had a 2002 movie that was decent enough called The Good Thief.
Another hidden gem of his is Off the Black (2006).
The back and forth at the end is some really good acting IMO.
Not sure how they got some of those perfect shots of roads and the skies but damn this movie is a treat.
Very Epic and along the same lines as Mask or the Elephant Man showing a Good Person on the Inside but not so good looking on the outside.
I couldn't locate a free version but perhaps tableplay can track it down.
Curious if you seen this one TP?
Interesting Note that the main character wasn't Vietnamese.
I watched the behind the scenes before and iirc he was from California and a Surfer.
Cancel Culture going to go insane!
That segue from leaving the ship with little food to throwing 5 pounds of food away in America is very realistic.
This movie has many nuances like that.
*** Not sure how they got Nolte and Tim Roth to do this movie but I'm glad they did! ***
The Beautiful Country (2004)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRJhyK87CxE
Hi Monet, I don't recall seeing this one (https://www.123movies.work/movies/th...tiful-country/) .
Thanks for the reco. I believe I did see the Good Thief. I think he was a heroin addict in that one.
Hi,
My Mom was an elementary education teacher. She always forced books on me: <you have to read the first 100 pages. If you don't like it after that, you can put it down..> Beautiful Country, is one of those books, but in film. Bai Ling is as deep as deep can get, a tortured multidimensional soul who gets through life; a survivor. The first 100 pages are difficult. When Ben and his father, a broken but hardened Vietnam vet, cast perfectly cast as Nick Nolte, discover themselves you will be rewarded.
Hello forumers,
I'm asking for your reco.
1. Please recommend the movie about golf (maybe about golf history or golfing pioneers)
I have already seen:
**Seven Days In Utopia
**Tommy's Honour
**The Greatest Game Ever Played
**Bobby Jones: Stroke Of Genius
My second post:
recommend movies about casino:
- casino history
- the largest amounts paid
- casino tactics or anything theories about roulette
- maybe somehting about the biggest gamblers
- something about the lives of gamblers
Broke Down out of some boredom and rented TENET (2020) the other night.
Not sure how this guy got the lead role other than his father is Denzel.
Probably would of been a better movie if they casted someone with more clout or chops.
That being said, I found the movie entertaining enough for the rental price.
I don't mind a movie being 2 and a half hours long but obviously I'm a bit of a movie buff.
After watching the movie I kept thinking how INCEPTION (2010) was more but basically the same.
I went over and read reviews of TENET and found it humorous how many people were complaining about how complicated this movie was.
I didn't find it very complicated.
No more complicated than similar movies like PRIMER (2004) and any other paradoxical movie dealing with time travel and multiple versions of oneself.
Anyways... like I say... worth the rental price or viewing if you are into movies.
Better than most movies being produced these days.
I stayed away from this movie for this long because I thought it was going to be some super hero woke movie when I first saw a 10 second preview long ago.
I was wrong about that.
I can give you a lengthy list.
Kind of lazy at the moment.
Start with TIN CUP (1996) and report back and I will gather a more detailed list.
I watch TIN CUP on the regular not to mention other golf and casino movies.
"You Ride her till she bucks ya or you don't ride at all."

"Everybody gets what they get."

What's really funny is how this movie was before Jean Van de Velde and how it was referenced during the real life meltdown.
I watched this Open Championship on TV all four days.
Those were the days when I watched a lot of sporting events constantly but sports were interesting in that era (70's till about the mid 2000's) IMO.
Most likely because my father was still alive and it was something we enjoyed doing together.
Watching Sports that is while he drank a case of beer.
Good Times.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV8Qj91T3o0&t=7s
By the way, I was watching some of the Masters yesterday and of course they have a woman calling the action on one of the holes now.
My ears can't stand it.
They bleed.
Let's not forget Lefty and his meltdown in the 2006 US Open.
Phil and Jean playing like Tin Cup hitting driver when not needed.
Ego... I know it well.
Does anyone actually remember the winner Geoff Ogilvy?
Doubt it but we all remember Phil blowing the US Open on the last hole just like TIN CUP.
Don't forget that Phil Mickelson is in the movie TIN CUP involved in a prop bet.
ha ha and ten years later he is living TIN CUP out in real life.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6d-10pjcEE
I was going to recommend The Legend of Bagger Vance except it wasn't very good ;-).
I told you before... AppleTV will be the death of me lol.
They kind of have me locked in now because if I don't pay for my account I think I will eventually lose my digital library.
It keeps growing and probably around 200+ dollars now.
Eventually I will just have to chalk it up as a loss.
Sort of like going to the theater and paying 20 dollars a ticket.
Apple TV is cheaper than that and they seem to be giving me back my monthly fee for the last year now.
Nothing new... Over the years I think I have lost a couple DvD collections that were well over 300 movies.
Disposable World IMO.
All this talk about Tin Cup is making me want to watch it again.
It's one of those movies like The Hustler, Rounders and others that get me pumped up to go out and bet MORE.
You may not like the movie but it has a bunch of gambling in it and my life mimics the philosophy of that movie.
Kevin Costner is pretty darn good in that roll, IMO that is.
Then there was Happy Gilmore. I found it to be average but slightly amusing.
Now you are outright blaspheming!!
It rivals the greatest golf comedy movie of all time.
Right up there with Caddy Shack!
You got a Hockey Player playing Golf.
Don't you ever touch my puck!!
I've probably watched that movie over 1000 times lol.
This is Shooters Tour!
The old 9th Green at 9 Trick lol...
Whoa... must be Burt Reynolds or something.
Hey Mister... You got to wear a helmet.
Don't worry about it... come on bring that shit on!
That hurt a little but I'm alright.
You're gonna give that shit up and concentrate on golf.
Golf requires goofy pants and a fat ass.
Hey... you no want breakfast??
Asian Hate I suppose right in the beginning of the movie.
Fuck... Love that movie!
Bob Barker beating up Happy Gilmore... Classic.
Cold Cut Combo... I eat two every day!
Ooooohhh... I hate that Bob Barker.
I literally say something referencing that Alligator Scene all the time.
I change it a bit.
Usually say something like... don't mess with me alligator.
Fucking Classic after he kills the alligator he gets one last elbow in lol lol lol.
You broke my heart tableplay... broke my heart.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_oTG_IqM14
AppleTV got me for another $7.99!
I was fumbling around and fell into this movie.
Missed it somehow back in the day.
Probably too busy playing outside.
Anyways, it is worth a viewing because it predates Silence of the Lambs (1991).
The music is good enough and it is Michael Mann in a similar style as his movie Thief (1981).
Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins did it better but its interesting to watch earlier content.
Other purists disagree as they believe the Brian Cox version of Hannibal to be more realistic.
On the plus side we have (William Petersen) in Manhunter from To Live and Die in LA (1985) which is by far a superior movie IMO.
I guess he came back from the dead to play an FBI Agent.
Manhunter (1986)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zl6IxPJSVc
Christopher McDonald is a primetime villain and was well cast for Happy Gilmore (I plan to give it another watch at some point when I am in good spirits so that the zaniness is more effective on me). I'm glad you decided to give Tenet a go - in a lot of movies, military officers are typecast as one dimensional idiots, but in this movie, reality sets in and you have military personnel who have a graduate level understanding of physics coupled with the elite physical abilities you would expect of military personnel (like many a graduate of West Point for example).
I'm pretty sure your thinking is more advanced on the subject matter of the movie TENET compared to mine.
I didn't even realize that Christopher Nolan put the movie together till the end credits.
Of course while watching it I couldn't help to constantly compare it to INCEPTION.
Made sense once I seen his name at the end.
When I seen Dunkirk in the movie theater I loved it.
My uncle, not so much.
Claimed like many others that the movie wasn't much of a movie.
I tried to explain that it wasn't in a traditional story format.
That movie was a visual experience.
The scenes in the cockpits were enough for me to go back by myself and watch it again.
Anyways, Happy Gilmore is goofy but has so many great one liners I can't help but love it.
This is all subjective but that movie never stops.
Its jab after jab of great wit.
Jaws is in that movie.
Apollo Creed is in it.
Lee Trevino.
Happy Gilmore beating up Kevin Nealon telling him to play it where it lies Mother Fucker lol lol lol.
The clown spitting back his ball in the miniature golf scene.
Ben Stiller running a sweat shop at the old folks home.
Well the price is now 200 dollars per quilt.
Well this is high quality shit we are talking about here.
Ok... pleasure doing business with you.
Good News Girls... I've increased arts and crafts time by 3 hours today!
"My fingers hurt"... whats that?
"My fingers hurt"
Oh now your backs gonna hurt because you just pulled landscaping duty... lol lol lol.
Anyone else's back hurt??
I didn't think so.
The homeless guy becomes a caddy.
Opponent puts a quarter down to mark his ball.
Homeless caddy comes over and picks it up and puts it in his pocket lol lol lol.
Gilmore using a batting cage to toughen up his body for hockey tryouts lol.
First caddy takes his clubs and Gilmore knocks him down to the ground because he thinks he is stealing them.
Gilmore pulling the old school hockey move to a Fan by pulling over his shirt and hitting him with a left hook lol lol lol.
The Fucking Movie is endless.
To each his own.
I guess you either love it or hate it.
Let's not forget that I don't enjoy John Wick very much.
And I for sure only liked the first installment.
After Gilmore I popped in Tin Cup because of this thread.
Not sure how you guys don't love that movie.
It has nothing but prop bet gambling all through it.
Great Movie with a clever storyline.
People think it is unrealistic but those types of guys exist.
I've known a few and have tried to become one of them in the last decade or so.
I'm not there yet... still have fear holding me back but I have crashed and burned enough to relate to the subject material.
The opening scene is a pretty good bang.
"I thought I had a Dr. Griswold?"
lol lol lol
Let's not forget that Bull Durham (1988) is way more popular but both movies are the same writer/director.
That being said he also did Hollywood Homicide (2003) which I didn't like but White Men Can't Jump (1992) was pretty good.
The Great White Hype (1996) isn't talked about much but its funny enough.
Ron Shelton also wrote The Best of Times (1986) which I love and watch all the Fucking Time.
Great Movie IMO... love that movie.
The guy wrote quite a bit more but I can end this wall of text here.
Kid Lester!
I recently also rented two other new movies.
News of the World with Tom Hanks...
not so good.
ok I suppose.
Not a movie I will watch multiple times.
Like say Tom Hanks in Cast Away...
Wilson... Wilson!
Never again Wilson... never again.
Let Him Go with Kevin Costner and Diane Lane.
Good enough story and acting.
I would watch again but not a movie like A Perfect World (1993)
I own that movie and watch it once in awhile.
Love the music at the end and at times it will make me cry like a little girl.
Well in my case it was neither, I remember thinking it was OK/Average. But after your description, I have decided that it was likely I didn't see it while in a good mood, and I will watch it again when I am in a light-hearted mood (it's frequently on TV IIRC).
Now here is something interesting about Tenet IMHO. It actually isn't a time travel movie technically. You will see what I mean with the following example:
Suppose we could arrange all the elementary particles in our universe in exactly the same state and position they were in at some time point on June 10, 1974 (we'll call this T0) along with the universe itself in its exact level of expansion at that point (our universe keeps expanding ever more rapidly into the void as time moves forward). Well if you could observe our universe in state T0 it would be no different than if you had time traveled back to that point in time in 1974. But you didn't - the elementary particles of the universe were re-arranged to be exactly the same as they were for that time point so you could not tell the difference. So it might as well be time travel in terms of what one experiences, but that is not what actually happens in this example.
Well the same thing is happening in Tenet. What got invented was a method that can put an object in reverse entropy in that movie. So the object returns to the state it was in at an earlier time, but no traveling back in time is done (the object's molecules just move back into the position they were in at an earlier time when exposed to the reverse entropy method that was invented in the future).
Thanks for the breakdown!
I'm pretty sure watching Happy Gilmore on TV would be edited too much.
You certainly want to watch that movie unedited.
No worries though.
We can't agree on everything.
Case in point...
Some people love the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and similar movies.
I don't watch them and have no interest.
A Dream of Kings (1969) with Anthony Quinn
I popped this movie in after Tin Cup this morning.
Very difficult movie to find.
Let me know if you can find it free on the internet... I was unable.
Its free on youtube if you speak raghead.
I paid 30 dollars for the DvD and was happy to because I wanted it.
The opening 35 minutes has this great scene where he talks about going broke the night before to a great Poker Player.
He lost with Aces Full to Four Deuces.
Anyways... he gets 20 bucks from a customer after giving his daughters his last 50 cents.
So as soon as he can after getting the 20 dollars he bets 10 dollars on a horse race.
He wins 77 dollars on that horse.
Proceeds to the backroom to play poker.
Finds a Sucker.
Runs up the money to about 750 or a grand.
whatever... pays off his debts and buys groceries for his family.
Fucking Great scene where he runs his money up from nothing.
Love that shit because I used to do it all the time.
Sort of still do with crazy swings on occassions.
Nothing better than running up 5 or 10 dollars to something like a grand or 5 grand.
That shit is amazing.
I'm sure you can relate.

Yes, just made a post about a pretty good vultured Golden Egypt (what you refer to as a vision style game) run up today (+$460 on the day). Flopped the ducks on a 10x5x5cent ($2.50) DW bet vultured UX play (so some hands were multiplied) for something like $800 a few months back - lighting strikes for people like us who are in the casino just about every day. Couldn't find the movie (for free) but looks intriguing.
If you notice the blonde is the same girl from 5 Card Stud and Hang 'Em High that we were talking about in the other thread.
Inger Stevens.
This is one movie where I feel bad for the wife because of the roaming/cheating husband.
Usually that sort of thing doesn't bother me because it is very realistic but for some reason, in this instance, it does.
I really can't explain it.
Good Character development I suppose.
I get it though, it goes along with his/my lifestyle.
Been there and done that.
That's why I say you don't Fuck around with the neighbor or some girl near your home.
If you have to, get a hooker or a massage girl.
Keep that shit separate and far away from your family.
This girl is going to the same church as he and his family... that's just asking for trouble.
I like the movie though.
Obviously as I paid 30 dollars so I could have it on DvD.
I root for and against him which is sort of rare for me to take both sides.
Caught this again yesterday on one of my movie channels...
I feel it is essential for movie and history buffs.
Probably one of the best actors of our time.
What makes him even greater is refusing 2 Oscars.
Calling the Oscars "a two-hour meat parade, a public display with contrived suspense for economic reasons!"
Legend has it that Scott was watching an NHL Game while the Award Show was being aired.
I still have a difficult time watching a movie he did in 1979... Hardcore.
I didn't look too hard to see if it is free online.
It should be provided free of charge IMO.
Patton (1970)

Yes Patton deserves its high ratings IMHO. Here is the link for Hardcore (thanks for the reco, I'm ripping it as I type this):
https://w.123-movies.club/hardcore-1979/watching/ (once there click the "123server" button and then click the circularly-inscribed centrally-located right arrow button in the movie rectangle).
I feel like I already talked about this movie but I'm too lazy to check back 16 pages.
The point is the movie should be mentioned more than once.
He should of got the Oscar for this scene/speech alone.
The ending of this movie is Fucking Great!
Runaway Train (1985)
"No beast so fierce but knows some touch of pity."
"But I know none and therefore am no beast."

If you want to watch the movie for free this guy currently has it on youtube in 13 parts...
