Rob don't care. He had a lot of fun jerking these guys chains and now he has sailed off into the sunset while they are still arguing about it. Reminds me of the guys down at the VFW. They're still fighting the Vietnam War.

I'm about to dig into this thread which I haven't read in ages.
I hope I'm not sorry.
Okay, so I've read everything.
Thoughts to follow. Afterwards, I will be moving all of the AxelWolf/MDawg stuff to a separate thread. Please keep this thread for discussion of the Newell controversy only.
Regarding Redietz's post, he displayed a lot of honesty and truthfulness.
Pertaining to the MDawg mystique:
In my opinion, the only reason that shit story of yours is allowed to continue is because of all the traffic it generates only brought on by all the controversy disputes that develop within. The funny part is that you think that your trip reports are exciting when that could not be further from the truth. Mickey Crimm put you and your crap in its proper perspective.
I think it is clear to everyone with a functioning brain that Rob does NOT have a Newell, never had a Newell, and has made some weak but very unconvincing attempts to keep the lie going. (The pics of him in a showroom Newell are hilarious, as is the fake for-sale ad.)
MaxPen had a very reasonable offer on the table -- and one which was free money for Rob, if he really had a Newell. His demands that Max provide his ID in advance are BS. Max, who is an anonymous person here, would be giving up his identity, and then Rob could simply make an excuse as to why they're not meeting. ("I had my people check you out, and you're dangerous. Not meeting you, sorry!")
The whole thing about needing to see Max's ID prior to meeting fails the logic test. If he were really scared of Max (which I doubt he was -- other than scared of forum humiliation), he could have offered to meet him in the parking lot of a police station. It's not like Max was demanding to take a ride in the Newell with him. There's no reason to need ID when meeting someone in a public place in broad daylight.
I compare this to when I sell old cars after buying a new one. I don't do dealer trade-ins or sell to used car dealerships, because you get terrible value. I sell private party, which does require meeting up with strangers and taking a ride with them. While the greater risk is on their end (because they're bringing cash, and I'm only bringing a vehicle which could be tracked), I still make them show me ID -- but only before we get in the car together. I would take a picture of their ID and send it to my girlfriend, in case something happened to me. However, to simply meet, I did not require any ID, because we'd be meeting in a public place, and I would have no reason to fear anything bad happening.
It is very clear to me that Rob never made big money through the double-up bug. If he did exploit that bug, he did so for relatively small money -- or at best he won via that bug, and then blew the money gambling later. Whatever the case, Rob never accumulated any real money assets via gambling, or otherwise he would have shown us by now. It's pretty obvious that all of Rob Singer's controversial stories are complete bullshit. Anyone who believes him at this point is either stupid or trolling. I actually believe coach belly is just a troll, and doesn't believe a word of what he writes about Rob.
Some people ask me why I don't ban Rob. I have stated time and time again that he's just a clown who enjoys aggravating people on forums. He isn't dangerous, isn't trying to sell anything, and isn't trying to scam anyone. He just enjoys telling tall tales and loves attention.
People ask me how I could allow someone like Rob to "mislead" people here. I counter that I've never seen any gullible people here believe Rob. His only defenders are longtime trolls and weirdos. And if you're so gullible that Rob is going to lead you down a path of -EV compulsive gambling, I can't help you. If that's the case, you have a lot bigger problems than this forum.
Now, if Rob were trying to sell a bunk gambling system (like Christopher Mitchell), I'd have put a stop to that ages ago. But he's not. He just tells tales and argues with people.
Anyway, I think this is all very clear, and Max proved what he set out to prove.
Here's the location of the AxelWolf/MDawg argument: https://vegascasinotalk.com/forum/sh...-with-AxelWolf
Thanks for weighing in Dan Druff. Spot on, on all accounts including all the trolling.
Rob's detractors insist that his claims are impossible.
I defend him on the principal that what he has claimed is not impossible.
On what basis do you conclude that I believe his Newell story?
You've accused me of writing what I don't believe.
Unless you believe that your accusation alone is proof enough,
then please provide an example of what you you mean.
So now troll extaordinair coach belly is going to attempt to troll the forum owner that just called him out for trolling. You just can't make this stuff up.
Thanks Dan. Rob has been a great source of entertainment for many years. I look forward to his returning as if none of his latest BS ever took place so he can start a whole new fantasy unconnected to his last. S.O.P.
I agree, I defend Rob and question his detractors.
Is that a problem? Should everyone gang up on Singer?
Why label me as a troll, versus the detractors?
I defend Rob on principal, the detractors troll him.
The detractors rely on theory, innuendo, supposition, imagination, etc.
If they are to question, then why shouldn't they be questioned?
I don't know...but I would like to know.
That's why I encouraged MaxPen to cooperate with Rob's clear and simple contact instructions.
Max wouldn't do that.
Ask him (or yourself)...why not?
We still don't know why not.
If a broke California flake fool like yourself is going to chime in then so am I.
You can believe anything you choose, and what you say you believe is only and totally based on biases and envy. However, you also choose to only believe in and read misrepresented facts, and I'll fix that for you.
When my RV Trader ad was posted, there was no DL requirement for anyone anywhere Only guidance that whomever wanted to view the rig in a face-to-face with me contact me via my ad to let me know what day and time they selected, and we would meet up. No conditions, no bets, no nothing. Contacting me thru RV Trader would confirm it really was my RV posted by me that was for sale.
Because your reading comprehension skills rival Alan's marriage retention skills, you are yet another VCT genius who seems to need guidance when it comes to understanding clearly identified events. Maxpen showed that he was never really gonna stand by his word of meeting me at the RV ("bags are packed" over & over again) by then trying to instead get me to post another picture for him to criticize, while pretending he'd send me a copy of his DL if I did. I never asked for, required or even mentioned the idea of a DL until after he chickened out of the very simple meet. All your hero max had to do was let me know when, and I would tell him where. Now he's counting on idiots like you to bail him out after making a fool of himself because he showed he didn't have the balls or the stomach to make the visit.
There's also no doubt a failure like you would NEVER have it be that I played the DU bug like I said I did. That's also the same jealousy behind kew's and most others' drive to create an alternate reality about it. And guess what--all roads lead to the Newell.
If you morons really thought my ad included an RV that wasn't mine, why have none of you contacted the FCC about it? I would love to see that happen, because I could then sue your broke asses.
Once again in simple English: I posted the ad, max contacts me via the ad, we agree on a day and time and place. No conditions of any kind.
GO BACK AND READ IT....then stop making idiots out of yourselves by trying to claim I brought up the DL issue.
And wise up.
Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Rob, this is big time projection on your part saying that I'm broke. Everyone who knows me in poker and gambling will assure you that's not anywhere near the case.
Anyway, if the driver's license thing wasn't your idea, why didn't you simply meet Max at a public place of your choosing, and show him the Newell? Why all the other nonsense terms and conditions?
I drive a certain type of luxury car. Axel has ridden in it. If anyone were to offer me $3k to meet them with it and proof of ownership, I would snap agree to it. I would not put forth restrictive terms or rigid instructions. My question would be, "Where and when?", and I'd be there. Maybe I'd have the money escrowed first so they don't cheat me, but aside from that, I'd go out of my way to make it easy for them to meet me.
Why didn't you do the same?
We all know the truth.
I will admit that I enjoy the comedy of all this, though. You do bring a lot of entertainment value to the forum. I have gotten so many messages over time demanding that I ban you, and I just can't bring myself to do it. Lots of unintentional laughs.
Why would I respond to an ad containing exterior pics of the Newell you ran into in some campground while out and about in your camper? That removed all doubt there was even an inherited Newell which up until then remained a remote possibility.
I will arrange for us to consult an RV expert at the Newell dealership down the street from your daughter's house. The same one you posed in that Newell trying to convince Wizard that your DU story was legit. Which is what started this whole thing. Unfortunately you ran into someone who knew exactly what to do in order for you to build the case of your illegitimacy while having you provide all the evidence. You have been able to weasel your way out of your other past bullshit because there was no physical evidence against you.
Anyway, I will pay the expert. If that expert verified that it is possible for that exterior to have an interior like the one you posed in I will pay you 5k on the spot. I can also escrow the 5k with someone in Vegas of your choice if you think I won't pay. If the expert says it is impossible I would like to be reimbursed for my expenses. But that is not necessary.
I sent according to you a "lame" PM requesting to make this happen if you believed you had a Newell still after your hokey ass ad proved even an inherited one was an impossibility. Why don't you post your response?
But wait there's still more........tic toc gramps.I predict you will no longer be trolling. On this forum at least. When I unleash the reckoning upon you. Your come to Jesus moment is not far off.
Should Have Wised Up
It will be interesting to see if RS' bluster changes at all, no matter what you come up with MP.
Dan Druff an innocent bystander without a motive behind it, what a load of crap. Dan just look at the comparison of these two threads below and you go pick on Singer's thread and call him a liar and just ignore this other thread without one word out of you so far is complete bullshit on your part.

MDawg
Dan, it is all about the traffic right? I am calling you out for never opining on the MDawg thread to which you rather stay out of. Redietz's post was right on the money but unfortunately, he also knows it is all about the traffic. In my mind you are not being open-minded regarding your board, only selective, and it makes you look really bad.
Good night, John Boy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cp7_u0kcQRo
Does this mean something special that Axel road in it? He seems to get a lot of rides. Does he even own a car? Would you know if he lost his license from DWI's?
For the record my friends Tony, and Guido, both rode in mine. Maybe I could get them to come here and confirm that.
I do have a drivers license. I do own a luxury vehicle outright. I also own an older limited addition sports truck. Nothing super fancy like Mdawg claims to own.
I have been Driving since before I was 16, I have owned lots of sports cars, I have always loved cars and hot-rodding. The first car I bough here in Vegas after getting in to AP was a classic Porsche(I always wanted one since I was a teen). Once I got Pumped up...I slammed it, the front valance was only 4" off the ground(I went though 4 of those), added low-profile tiers, I chromed out the rims, spent thousands on a paintjob, 3k on a custom built stereo system, I spent about 1k on new interior. I had the engine rebuilt, board out and supped up with dual Weber's. I was running 103 octane(I remember it was $3.05 at the time, about double the price of normal gas.) I blew that engine within a few years. I then had a race engine put in and eventfully blew that one too. I added a 3rd race engine, but it was a pain in the ass since it always seemed to need tuned up and the carbs had to be constantly adjusted. Eventually, the transmission when out and I made the hard decision to sell it. I also had a Camaro( eventually totaled) and BMW( eventually sold) at the time. At some point bought a red 2000's Pontiac trans am firebird that ended up getting stolen(I really liked that car). I had all different kinds of cars before and in-between. I basically gave away a 280Z to a guy that was working for me so he had something better to Drive. He did pay me a little.
Glad you cleared that up.
Impressive stuff. Way to roll Bro!
And that's why DanDruff stepped in yesterday, and once before, to opine. RS posted contradictory evidence that actually DISproved his claim of owning the Newell.
If RS had kept his mouth shut, we would have thought he was a horse, and let him through. Instead he went on about how he was "in sanitation" and made a fool of himself.
https://i.imgur.com/FzsZRAvm.jpg
And that’s the difference between RS’ malarky, and the MDawg thread. I have presented a clear consistent story that has never contradicted itself, and clear visual and video evidence to support both the play and the wins. As well, the amounts I won were modest given my credit lines, versus RS's claim of taking in millions, and then plunking it all into a phantom RV that has never been seen.
I am not sure what the equivalent for me would be to the crapola RS has pulled…but I have never presented anything so clearly contradictory as pictures posing inside an RV for sale at a dealership and then that ridiculous faked For Sale ad with the partial images of a different RV.
If you think he will, you're stupider than I thought. He's not a fool like you who sticks his foot in his mouth constantly, including by making claims and then being unable to back them up. It's one thing to make an AxelAss out of yourself by saying something is not true and then offering not a shred of backup evidence to support yourself, quite another to point out exactly why and how RS has blown it with his own visual evidence.
But then, no one ever said AxelWolf has a logical mind!
Perhaps if you, Bosox and KewlJ keep crying and complaining to Dan the way you did to the Wizard, Dan will come in and say something in my thread, but I am sure that if he takes the time to review it, he'll be able to see it for what it is, a clear, non-contradictory chronicle with backup of visual evidence. Speculation may be left to the likes of you.
And in the meantime, There is no such thing as bad press. But there may be such a thing as bad AxelAss!
I do like the sound of that!
Don't feel bad MDawg never answers anyone's questions. I am glad that I am not a member at WOV where there are always new members who could easily be influenced by MDawg's escapades, as I would always be suspended for calling him out. Now his counterpoint is that he does not encourage anyone to play which is beyond his comprehension to understand just how dangerous his trip reports really are. On the same point if he was being honest in relating trip reports that were coming from a real advantage player who was playing games with a very real positive expectation that was skill-related and learned by him there would be no problem. Again he says he is in fact telling the truth and being honest about his trip reports true or not it is all meaningless and has no real substance behind it. Casino's could not find better advertisements anywhere.
Holy hell,,,, Mdawg and Axel are like covid super spreaders infecting every thread on VCT. Dan gave you two lovebirds a place to take your feud yesterday after he swept this room clean. Why the fuck can't you two just shit in one place??
Seems to be the problem I am having. ;)
This is the problem with all of these forum owners / administrator. At the blackjack forum that I was originally banned at it was a guy claiming his super duper count could play to a 5% advantage, something impossible from blackjack card counting. The owner, a math guy knew this BUT the guy claiming was the leading poster by far bring a lot of traffic.
At WoV, I see some of the same with this MDawg character. The owner knows better, but forum traffic is involved.
And the same thing here with Rob Singer for years and now MDawg.
I get that forum owners are about traffic, but I just have a problem when they are legitimate respected gambling and math guys. When that is the case their silence and even provideing a platform for these "fantasies" does harm. Their silence is almost an endorcement.
There is a contradiction here too. You see these forum owners say things like "no one is getting hurt", but at the same time they all (including Dan Druff) will tell you that there are many lurker visitors to their forums that don't participate. Those are the kind of people that read this crap over and over (because of the posting repetition of these nut jobs). So a forum that is supposed to be or masquerades as a legitimate gambling forum, that people come to for information, ends up promoting mis-information. That is why I feel it is not only the right, but the responsibility of legitimate AP's to call out this crap.
Your right that's understandable, I applaud Max for starting this thread, his complaints have merit. Unlike someone else who complained well over a hundred times, for things to get rearranged.
I predict this will end like all the Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio swamp rats- everyone will realize who and what they really are-and maybe really important matters will take precedence.
I've always given him the benefit of the doubt. All I've ever said is if I made a million, I wouldn't waste it on a Newell. But I did the research beforehand and realized they were money guzzlers that were hard to find room for for my type of leisure. In fact, we just sold our travel trailer 4 months ago.
I don't care what Rob claim's he has won, he owns, he sold, he has or he does. His video poker betting system DOESN'T WORK, IT NEVER HAS AND IT NEVER WILL. I suppose there could be some rare circumstances where something like this could work, for instance, there could be some online casino that has gaffed programing. Perhaps Some new machines in the future might be vulnerable to something crazy like this. But, certainly, his system doesn't work on the machines you are playing and never will.
I can't even remember what the offer was. One session will not prove anything either way. There is something called Variance. There's a good chance he has won money with his system due to variance. That's doesn't mean its profitable system that will work for anyone else. There was a story about some old guy that hit Mega bucks 2 or 3 times I assume the guy plays frequently, I have no doubt he is winning over all. I'm sure he could have written a book and held classes with some system that people would actually believe and try. There are lots of desperate suckers out there when it comes to gambling.
if 50 people followed his system exactly how he dictated over a significant amount of hands their net total would be a loss. If 50 people followed a legit AP+EV method over a significant amount of hands the net total would be profitable.
Dan, it must be that you skip around and read only parts of postings. The DL thing was brought up by max, not me, after my ad posted and I told him to contact me for the meet time and address in Gilbert. How much more simple can it get? It was your easy "where and when". No conditions, restrictions, terms, or anything--exactly as he asked for over and over again. I even deleted any money requirement either way! Is it getting thru to you yet?
But....he immediately backed out of coming over (which he constantly proclaimed he'd do "within 24hrs.") with his requirement to instead post yet another picture so he could claim it was fake, and he'd send me a copy of his DL if I did that.
He OBVIOUSLY was never gonna come over here to face me in the first place. And you're supporting someone like this? Now I see he's still going on and on about alternate issues because people like you give him the strength to welch out without consequence. Which is why he keeps promising to post more bogus snoop info on me thinking it affects anything or matters. He knows how he looks after this, and because forum life drives his existence, he needs to do something to alleviate the pain.
Your claim about my RV Trader ad being "fake" is odd. There's a requirement for some states to provide a VIN and proof of ownership on vehicles being posted for over a certain amount. And what else could max claim other than I took shots of some wayward Newell last summer for the ad? Really? Then why'd I wait so long to claim I was selling it? The only part of this nonsense I agree is a little loose is the interior pics from last year, but that's because max, in his inimitable wisdom and haste, chose to throw out proclamations instead of ever asking questions--which is typical on forums.
I know how most of you people want this story to be told. I'm trying to get on the road to S. Dakota but the weather is making us wait a few days. Some people here are using my email address and phone no. from my ad to try and get me to return for responses because they love conflict. But no more. I got the feeling that if you actually take the time to read everything comprehensively all your questions and criticisms will be answered...to your and others' chagrin.
Max happy posting!....you chickenshit coward.
And everybody wise up.
Sounds of desperation.
Rest In Peace gramps...... There is no coming back from the Newell lie. You supplied all the proof dumbass....lol. You should just apologize for trying to deceive everyone and move on. If you do that by February 15th I will not unleash the Reckoning Upon You.
You got one chance to
Wise Up
Yeah, it starts with the second sentence in the fourth paragraph when, instead of actually claiming that was the case with his sale, he goes all passive voice. Then he asks rhetorical questions instead of saying anything. Rhetorical questions are like "Why would a guy not keep interior photos for future reference knowing he'll get called on it? No camera? No phone?" or "Why would an ad that has a four-photo limit only have two photos?" and so on.
The interesting aspect to this is whether "Singer" will come clean to his family about his delusional stories before Max outs him or not.
Here is the thing. Singer did that interview with Wizard, which frankly he comes off pretty bad. In response to that interview both Wizard and Dan Druff request proof of the RV, since Singer tied that to the Double-up bug claim. It is at this point that Singer heads to the nearby RV dealership pretending to be a perspective buyer and takes those staged pictures. What was it 4 or 5 pictures, completely staged, no personal items, no feet allowed on the bed. A picture in the drivers seat, like the big captain, while the vehicle was parked at the dealership. The best part of the staged pictures was it made the squeegee famous. :D
So after that fooled no one, and everyone cried "staged", if Singer really owned that RV, he simply would have gone to the RV and taken a dozen or so more pictures, maybe with a current days newpaper. Something like that. But he didn't own the RV, so he couldn't go back to the dealership with that scam again, so he then posted the phony bill of sales, which dug his hole even deeper.
Here is the basic problem with Singer. He always thinks he is the smartest person in the room, or in this case on the forum, when in fact, he is probably the dumbest.
Guys like Singer and MDawg seem cut from the same cloth: guys whose reach exceeds their grasp.
You know the type: bozos who believe that the true measure of success in this crazy world is having a lot of money and material possessions.
I got news for ya, guys: once you get to a comfortable level in life any additional money is superfluous.
What is more relevant to gauging true success is who you are and how you act, not what your have: but I digress.
So these two dearly want to grab the brass ring but they've never been able to get it together enough to do so, so they ... invent.
The next best thing to being rich is to convince others that you're rich, right?
The game is afoot.
Yes, you're too dense and uneducated to recognize sarcasm: no surprise.Quote:

I live off of about 35-40k a year, which is about half of what I make. And I live very comfortably. Nice home, currently a 2 bedroom high rise condo with nice views if you love Vegas which I do. Newer model vehicle less than 2 years old. I manage to have everything I want and need. Just a nice comfortable life. Recently MaxPen posted how most AP's live a rather modest life, and I was struck by how true that is of the AP's I know of. So as soon as you start reading these claims, of RV's and all the high end stuff, the BS alarm just starts ringing.
I think you left something important out here, MrV. Friends and family and how they view and love you. I am kind of an introvert. I don't make or have a lot of friends. Just a handful of close friends and family and a few more casual friends. But here is something for you.
After I relocated to Las Vegas, my best friend and partner (later married) picked up and followed. I didn't ask him to. And this is a guy who had deep roots in Philadelphia, many friends and family, children from his first marriage.
When my younger brother graduated college, rather than return to his parents home in Florida, he chose to move across country to be near me and lay down roots in Vegas.
When my mother divorced, she chose to move across country to start over in Vegas, to be near my brother and I.
One of my brothers friends from high school, who I have become quite close to, just recently relocated to Las Vegas at my invite. He was able to transfer his job, and left where he grew up and all his friends.
I feel truly blessed, but doesn't that say something when people choose to be near you and want you as part of their life.
Anyway, carry on.
Add on: I suspect that is the real thing missing from some of these guys life. Not that they don't have some friends and family. But people that love you so much that they would do anything for you. I sincerely wish that kind of love for everyone. When you have that, nothing else much matters.
Watch out for MisterV. He knows his animals. Turns him on. Ha.

Yes, it is true that lions eat hyenas but it isn't a common thing. Lions end up killing hyenas to cut down the competition for food. Lions see hyenas and other apex predators as a threat to their territory and life which explains why lions kill them. It is important to note that lions don't kill hyenas to eat them.
LOL. Sorry, coach, see this is what I mean by you expounding regarding things you know nothing about.
Did you know that lions are more likely to steal hyenas' kills than the other way around? While some hyenas are mostly scavengers, spotted hyenas (the kind found in most African docs) are considered co-apex predators and actively kill the majority of their meals.
Hyenas do kill people, by the way.
On Mars, maybe...did you use your tinfoil hat to receive that information from your spaceship?
But listen here Marlin Perkins...I wasn't referring to spotted hyenas, I was talking about
the Pacific Coast male pattern balded white-haired flabby blabby hyena.
They'd rather be a predator, but the best they can do is to feed on road kill.

Garnabby,
Remember Sgt. Dietrich on Barney Miller? That was me, using a cleverly disguised German name.
So has Rob claimed to have sold the camper? If he did I missed it.
When Singer announced that the RV would be going for sale between such and such a date and that MaxPen and anyone else interested could view it then, it was almost a guarantee that anyone who attempted to set up a viewing would be met with an "oh I already sold it" excuse. That was going to be Singer's out.
Now if he really owned an RV he would have obviously said the RV is going up for sale on xx date, so you can come view it a day or two before that. Rob's "oh I already sold it" excuse, guarantees that there never was an RV.
It is like I said several times now. This guy isn't even a good troll anymore. You can see his scams coming a mile away.
He claims he sold it to a seemingly mysterious Israeli.
Apparently there's a real shortage of Newells in the Holy Land.
Yeah, sight unseen, the guy wired half a million.
Now that said, in 2009, I was planning to relocate to Las Vegas. I didn't have a set time. So I would periodically be checking real estate sites, looking for a bargain on a condo close to the strip. It was just after the real estate crash, so there were lots of foreclosures and short sales. Several of the sites had live auctions. I bid on a property in a highrise, just off the strip. I made a rather low bid, 87 grand, a fraction of which these properties went for when they sold as new just 3 years earlier, which was the 300k range. To my surprise my bid held up throughout the auction, meaning I had bought a property, sight unseen, although there had been a virtual showing and I knew the building and area. Within a month, I was living in Las Vegas. All my friends thought I was crazy buying a condo, sight unseen, but it worked out for me.
Now despite my experience, I can't imagine a buyer purchasing a 500k RV without seeing it. If nothing else you would want to check out the engine and/or have a mechanic check out the engine. Plus the floors could be rotted out under the carpet, which pictures wouldn't show. Of course Singer had no pictures of interior in his ad. Someone purchasing that RV in 1 day, sight unseen, and wiring the money, sight unseen, is a joke and everyone knows it.
That's in interesting story. I would like to hear more about it. You bought the place? Was it nice, better or worst than expected, how my bedrooms and square feet ? Why did you sell it? Did you make a nice profit? I'm contemplating buying a fixer upper 4 plex or something here in Vegas with my Nephew as an investment.
Well, this last bit brings us to the irreducible nuts and bolts (of silliness). My hat off to Red, I will cut to the chase, and, then, directly to the song, which follows.

I bet Rob originally acquired the Newell sight unseen. It's how he rolls.
Ok, here is the details. The building was the Platinum, a highrise at the corner of Flamingo and Kovel behind Bally's. The Platinum is what is called a condominium hotel, which usually means, people buy and own the units individually, but they cannot live there permanently. There is usually some maximum number of days that you can stay there, like 60. When not staying in the unit themselves, owners have the option to put the unit back into the pool, that is rented out and receive a monetary credit that goes to and can offset the monthly homeowners fee. I believe the Trump Property in Las Vegas is similarly a condo hotel.
The building opened in 2006, but after the crash in 2009, there were like 40-50 units on the market that had been foreclosed or were short selling, so management decided to disregard the "no residency clause" and allow people to live in the units like a regular condo. My condo was an upper floor, facing the strip and looking between Bally's and Paris, I could catch just a little view of the Bellagio fountains. And being a hotel, there was room service available, dry cleaning service and a restaurant and bar. My unit was 1150 square feet which consisted of a bedroom with king size bed and living room that had a pullout sofa, kitchen, bath, and balcony. I absolutely loved it.
I never did put my unit into the pool to be rented out, but starting the second year, I would rent out my unit privately several times a year, on New Years Eve, Valentine's Weekend, and the first weekend of March Madness, which usually fell on or near St Patrick's day. Renting out privately, rather than putting the unit back in the pool for these 3 weekends, would cover my homeowners fees for the entire year. :)
So there were about 3 dozen units where people were living permanently, like I was. So several years later, after the real estate market settled and under new management, Those of us that lived there permanently received a notice that the occupancy restriction was back in effect and we could only stay there 60 nights out of the year. About 2 dozen of us got together and hired an attorney, because we all had it in writing that we could live in our units. They made offers to buy us out and it went back and forth, some sold, and finally the day before going to court, they upped their offer to me and I sold. And yes, I made a pretty good profit, but really, I would have liked to just continue to live there.
I read this and I just become immensely sad.
What Rob portrays then the reality of his life... so different.
He's older, didn't ever keep ahold of any money. I run into these guys in life. 65+ and broke. SS barely covers anything, all living on that edge of not quite homeless. No property - usually a car. Rob and his wife (lovely lady) lives in the frontyard inside his broken down RV that was towed to his daughter's driveway. Living mostly off macaroni and P&J sandwiches. His daughter invites him in, but the man of the house (aka son-in-law) is perpetually perturbed at Rob's bumming meals and insisting at eating at the table with them. However, his daughter still feels great pity for Rob. Rob always gave her attention when he was around. When flush with food stamps - once or twice a year - Rob buys some steaks and cooks them. He must repeat some variation of "A man should eat well" line 20 times during these ordeals.
On the internet though Rob thinks he can be someone. He comes up with grandiose stories full of so much bullshit they're seen as nonsense by every sharp forum poster. Yet it doesn't dissuade Rob. A stupid man doesn't have the capacity to understand what they don't understand. Rob sincrely believes he is going to pull the wool over someone's eye, just for the equivalent of a grain of respect. He just wants to be seen as someone. The sort of man who drives around in a Newell. Sadly in his actual life he has nothing else to offer anyone.... except for a P&J sandwich and a cramped placed to sit in a pop-up.
Just the pointlessness of his life. The bleakness. The sadness. The people hurt by his gambling problems and pathological lying. That $40 he spent on the ad could have given him a shot to take his wife to their yearly steak and dinner deal in downtown LV. Where they tow their pop-up every year and dutifully park it at the Circus Circus. Rob comes alive though and manages to go through all the cash they have available. On a good year, he doesn't get into the credit cards. These days his wife keeps them and Rob has come to understand if he does it again, she WILL leave him. Unfortunately for her it is mostly bluster, because it is clear she has no better option. What sort of woman would want to live in a RV, where they're but tolerated guests parked in the frontyard. The neighbors not happy because the RV hasn't moved in years and it really does impact the neighborhood. They have pity though. They feel for the old man in a broken down RV who tells endless stories of his "glory days."
