All It Takes Is A Little Time, Patience, & Effort

While you people have been busy complaining about the country, the Great president, and lying about each other and me, I've been out doing what I do best. Later one night last week I dropped into one of the dumpiest places in the most pathetic of areas I could find, to of course scout for any infected double-up machines. The place was Hobey's, in beautiful felon-infested Sun Valley, Nv.

The first thing I noticed on the floor (the bar was shut down due to the fake fear Sisolak has instilled into Washoe County) was the worst pay tables I have ever seen anywhere....including at Redskins casinos. Almost every game is 6/5 at all denominations ($1 was the highest I saw)----BP, DDBP, JoB, etc. I asked for the DU option to be enabled on a few machines I played (lost $75) but no dice. Then I found a 5c thru $1 machine that had the same crappy 6/5 pay table on all denominations for tbp+. This machine worked. After about 40 minutes of turning nickel straight-and-higher winners into dollar winners I was dealt four Aces. Got the signer and left, but not before some incompetent suit grilled me about all my motions while playing, and why I kept asking for DU to be enabled. They turned the machine off as we were talking. I then left.

I'm not going back. There's probably plenty other fish to fry outside of a kitchen full of unknowledgeable casino bosses.

Hobeys was one of the few casinos I noticed that still had bonus poker plus along with other IGT games that were considered failures like Pyramid Poker vp (burn joints/locals spots almost never have slot analytics departments of course) circa 2017. Do they still have the lone Triple Trouble machine from Bally Gamemaker ? LOL. Hope you drove over the hill (past the Desert Research Institute) to Bonanza - they probably still have Ace Invaders and the old auto-hold VLC Touch vp/slot multi-game machines.

I used to be a teenager. I remember all the times I got hit on by gay men. I damn sure wished women hit on me like that. If you look at the number of gay men compared to the number of heterosexual women, it was way out of proportion.

Actually, for most of U.S. history, Americans treated Italians as a subset of African-Americans because Italians originally took similar jobs, had similar skills, and were defined as BEHAVING like African-Americans.

A friend of mine is a young, independent filmmaker specializing in "mob movies." I didn't really understand some of the scenes he wrote where Italian fathers/uncles would go off because a young Italian guy had a black woman in their house or dated a black woman. Eventually, I read up on it a bit. So the issue was that Italians spent so much time lumped with African-Americans that they overreacted to Italians who fraternized with African-Americans.

It turns out that KJ is using somewhat intellectually sophisticated, ironic posts here, by applying the bigotry imposed on Italians most of American history to poke fun at "Singer's" current bigotry. The Italian is guilty of doing what other people did to Italians for most of U.S. existence. And "Singer" aims his bigotry at African-Americans, who Italians were directly lumped with.

What I like about KJ's posts is that if you decide categorizing Italians as black due to the color of their skin and the jobs they took was an error, then you're stuck admitting that categorizing people by the color of their skin is an error in general. Italians had their "Italian Lives Matter" moments in American history, with rioting and protests over job conditions and pay. People made the same comments about Italians then that "Singer" directs at African-Americans today.

Nice try KJ, but not even close. I had well over 40 employees, most under 30. A few of them gay but a lot of college girls working their way through school. Multiple nurses and others over the years. A friend of mine is a young, independent filmmaker specializing in "mob movies." I didn't really understand some of the scenes he wrote where Italian fathers/uncles would go off because a young Italian guy had a black woman in their house or dated a black woman. Eventually, I read up on it a bit. So the issue was that Italians spent so much time lumped with African-Americans that they overreacted to Italians who fraternized with African-Americans.

It turns out that KJ is using somewhat intellectually sophisticated, ironic posts here, by applying the bigotry imposed on Italians most of American history to poke fun at "Singer's" current bigotry. The Italian is guilty of doing what other people did to Italians for most of U.S. existence. And "Singer" aims his bigotry at African-Americans, who Italians were directly lumped with.

You alluded to me not understanding the 2nd paragragh in the New York Toilet Times article and suggested I read it again. I did. The author said that Northern Italians long considered Southern Italians to be descended from Africans. But, Comrade Dietz, those northern Italians were wrong.

The thing is, you can read between the lines of what Boz really believes as opposed to what he types. For example, he wasn't willing to bet on any or all of the White House projections regarding number of deaths all these months while he downplayed the virus (hint: the Over was a clean sweep).

As we are all aware, anyone that leaves the Northeast to go to the Southeast, must quarantine for 14 days upon return. The numbers are not good. Florida residents were polled recently and 57% disapproved of the job Gov. DeSantis has done regarding the virus and 61% have stated that he opened the state prematurely.

Gov. DeSantis has stated the numbers are trending favorably. On June 12th Florida hit a high of 1,900 new cases of the virus. That was an excellent apex at that point for a state that big. From July 10th -July31 (the new numbers came out) the minimum has been 9,200 (excluding one day). Usually, 10,000 to 11,000.

From March 1st through July 13th there was only one day that Florida experienced 100 death in a day. Since July 14th 13 of the 18 days have had 100+ deaths. Sadly, a record high in each of the last two days.

I am not picking on Florida specifically, but, yeah, self bragging about their early success was ill advised. The state is the number one poster child on how not to handle a pandemic virus.

Miami/Dade county has 146% of ICU beds utilized. Five counties have exhausted their bed availability. 51 hospitals have no ICU availability whatsoever. The numbers were out of whack two weeks ago. Either the governor did not ask the federal government for help or the federal government lapsed.

Both Harvard and the Trump task force agree on the 13 states that have the worse numbers of cases per 100,00 people. All are southeastern states outside of Texas, Oklahoma, and Idaho. Florida leads the pack at 48 per 100,00. Arkansas is 13th at 26 per 100,000. The low end of the spectrum is within the 6 New England states, NY, NJ, and Hawaii. They run between 0.9 and 5.6 per 100,000. Harvard has a stronger view that the Trump task force. They say these 13 states at the top end of the scale should shut down. While I have not had the opportunity to review each individual state, a safe assumption is that most came back too early and too fast. The fact that the northeast states are requiring a 14 day quarantine for the other 31 to 42 states (depending on the individual state) puts traveling on a major standstill.

Globally, the world have roughly 15 million cases of the virus between January 15th and July 20th. In the last 8 days there have been 2 million new cases. Might as well forget about international travel for a while.

Now, why do I bring this up? My original guess is that the US would shut down on March 18th (to let us celebrate St. Patrick's Day) and then maybe open up for Memorial Day or by June 1st. I was close to Reditz's estimate. I am way off on everything else. I thought the second wave would come in mid October. Then, again, the experts are stating that we are still in the first wave.

I hate coming out of the bleachers and start spouting numbers but I would say this regardless of our government set up. No president would have handled this in an optimum way. Optimum would have banning travel from UK to the US. No one does that. What everyone has to realize is that there is no safe outing once you leave your house. There are many states that are a mess right now. As I indicated earlier, my mother in law recently broke her hip. I cannot jeopardize my wife who will probably be her primary care giver for a while. This wasn't hard to figure out as it went along. Unless you were watching Fox News, which happens to be the most watched news network (by Americans). Anyway, one last blog promo -- if you check my blog entries going back to the beginning, I was way ahead of the news cycle for many things. But it was not hard. Just had to review international news the early months, then put epidemiologists' opinions together. The guy in charge of the South Korea infectious disease institute, who is a Fauci equivalent, was ready to retire until covid-19 came along. While I will acknowledge that I was long winded, it definitely appears that those living in the early stages of innocence regarding the virus will eventually understand the situations regarding a pandemic.

The northeast is in nirvana right now. As an individual that runs some travel and recreation sport programs along with helping the HS girls basketball program, you would think that all systems are go up here. Nothing could be farther than the truth. I believe parents want their children back at school (for a variety or reasons) but teachers and the administration view trouble. Basically, it is about the teachers getting the virus and schools being sued for allowing children back to school.

So Florida, which is virus central, wants to open schools in two weeks and the safe states in the northeast are cautiously viewing their options. Yes, states are independent from one another but, damn, there should be some common sense. I want all students in school and I want them to hopefully play a sport with as much games as is acceptable.

I really want to believe that we are past the peak (some soft numbers are indicting this). I am not Redietz Jr. (no shot to you Redietz). But, there are times when I laugh and keep thinking about the movie, Animal House, and the scene of the parade when Kevin Bacon yells, "Remain calm. All is well.". Miami/Dade county has 146% of ICU beds utilized. Five counties have exhausted their bed availability. 51 hospitals have no ICU availability whatsoever. The numbers were out of whack two weeks ago. Either the governor did not ask the federal government for help or the federal government lapsed.

Both Harvard and the Trump task force agree on the 13 states that have the worse numbers of cases per 100,00 people. All are southeastern states outside of Texas, Oklahoma, and Idaho. Florida leads the pack at 48 per 100,00. Arkansas is 13th at 26 per 100,000. The low end of the spectrum is within the 6 New England states, NY, NJ, and Hawaii. They run between 0.9 and 5.6 per 100,000. Harvard has a stronger view that the Trump task force. They say these 13 states at the top end of the scale should shut down. While I have not had the opportunity to review each individual state, a safe assumption is that most came back too early and too fast. The fact that the northeast states are requiring a 14 day quarantine for the other 31 to 42 states (depending on the individual state) puts traveling on a major standstill.

Globally, the world have roughly 15 million cases of the virus between January 15th and July 20th. In the last 8 days there have been 2 million new cases. Might as well forget about international travel for a while.

Now, why do I bring this up? My original guess is that the US would shut down on March 18th (to let us celebrate St. Patrick's Day) and then maybe open up for Memorial Day or by June 1st. I was close to Reditz's estimate. I am way off on everything else. I thought the second wave would come in mid October. Then, again, the experts are stating that we are still in the first wave.

I hate coming out of the bleachers and start spouting numbers but I would say this regardless of our government set up. No president would have handled this in an optimum way. Optimum would have banning travel from UK to the US. No one does that. What everyone has to realize is that there is no safe outing once you leave your house. There are many states that are a mess right now. As I indicated earlier, my mother in law recently broke her hip. I cannot jeopardize my wife who will probably be her primary care giver for a while. Yes, these are unique times.

This wasn't hard to figure out as it went along. Unless you were watching Fox News, which happens to be the most watched news network (by Americans). Anyway, one last blog promo -- if you check my blog entries going back to the beginning, I was way ahead of the news cycle for many things. But it was not hard. Just had to review international news the early months, then put epidemiologists' opinions together. The guy in charge of the South Korea infectious disease institute, who is a Fauci equivalent, was ready to retire until covid-19 came along. He actually was very forthright and accurate, better than Fauci, in fact. Now he can't retire.

Anyway, at some point I'll do a blog entry of "Bob's greatest predictions" and contrast them with the White House. I had a little bit of a head start on most civilians as my late wife was a demographer and archaeologist who studied Native Americans at time of contact, which featured pandemics. I knew what "pandemic" meant and how this would work demographically. I think most Americans were in the dark.
