It was abrupt and quick as these things go. His conciliatory tone after making the announcement along with a reply to Boz of having a 7-up instead of a beer, lead me to believe this might come down quickly. Having had his name and other info, since the incident at my building several years ago, I began keeping an eye on the Reno Obits, but it was someone else that found this obit posted through a Nebraska funeral home, although I do now see a smaller, less detailed mention in the Reno listings.

One thing I totally disagreed with was Joe and Aaron's adulation of former president Bathhouse Barry. Look, I didn't want to mention this, because I have no need to kick the man's memory. But anyone who read Kevin Keen's obit should have noticed one very glaring omission. Not a single word mentioned about blackjack or his blackjack play.
When I first encountered Moses 10 years ago on Norm's blackjack form, Moses introduced himself as a professional blackjack player and sports bettor living and playing in Reno. It was that last part, that to me, required me to speak up doubting that claim after he repeated it several times. Reno is not a place like Las Vegas that a player can spread his play around and achieve some longevity. I know because that is the same issue that ended my Atlantic City run. It is just not a big enough place with enough casinos and games to survive for long. On top of that Reno is notoriously sweaty. They just will not allow a player to do what Moses claimed. And that is why there are no real players based out of Reno. At best, real players swing through Reno for a weekend every now and then, but even that is risky because Reno is so sweaty you will end up in the databases.
And me calling this out, wasn't just about calling someone out. After he posted this numerous times, I thought there are going to be players flock to Reno to play the single deck games that will all end up banned and in the databases. I felt like players should know the truth. And that was the whole basis of the 10 year feud between Moses and myself. I came to realize, he was very passionate about blackjack and he was pretty knowledgeable about the single deck game. I even learned a couple things from his that have benefited me. But what he claimed just could not be playing Reno. And as evident by not a single word about blackjack play in his obit, it wasn't real.
Speculating based on what I now know and Moses even shared before he passed, I believe he relocated to Reno after his divorce in 2010 and his plan was to support himself from blackjack and sports betting and he jumped the gun and called himself that before it occurred, which it never did. Last year he amended his claim to that he had won 100k over 10 years, which is not the level of a professional player, but is a level that maybe a part-time player could pull off in Reno. But again, not a single mention of any kind of blackjack play in his obit. Even as a part-time player, I would have thought there would have been a mention of his love of blackjack and frequent play.
I give him credit for coming clean towards the end and I also appreciated the conciliatory tone of his final posts to me. I wanted to leave it at that. Why a person would need to do what Mdawg just did is just sickening. Way beyond acceptable. Let the man rest for God sakes.
And now some imposter has posted a message on the obit "wall" claiming to be me. I did not post any such message. And Mdawg says that the message with reference to me wasn't him either. I accept that, but remain just appalled that someone would do such a thing. This isn't some freaking forum bullshit. The man's family and friends are reading that nonsense.
Just a reminder of how very sick some of the people are on these forums.
This is fucking disgusting, even for the trolling levels of these forums most of us have been involved in.

I made a post on the obit wall, both to stand on its own and to deflect from the previous nonsense. You have to provide an email address. Theoretically, the funeral home knows the email address or addresses of the person or people who posted as imposters.
KJ, you seem to believe that the fact that nothing was mentioned in his obit about his BJ play shows he wasn't quite candid about his level of play and success.
I have another possible explanation for the omission.
Obits are typically written by a close family member, someone who knew the deceased well.
It may be that the writer did not approve of his gambling; perhaps it rose to the level of being a problem and / or embarrassment, I don't know.
Many people hold gamblers in a bad light, especially those whom they believe to have a gambling problem.

From what I can gather Joe's sports interests are in combat sports, billiards, pool, firearms, archery and martial arts.

MrV, I have considered that obits are written by others. If Moses was the full time player earning a living for the last 10 year's, what is there for anyone to disapprove of?
I hope we can all agree now that he was not. The obit does mention the business he built which is how he did make a living.
So what if he was a parttime player who made 100k over 10 years, which was his last claim? Again, whoever wrote the obit, disapproved so they omitted that? That doesn't make sense to me. The complete lack of mention of anything about blackjack leaves me to believe he didn't play anywhere near what he claimed. After all, they did at least mention some sports wagering.
But it doesn't matter now.
The post made on his obit wall by someone using my name, said nothing bad. As a matter if fact it was nice. But it wasn't me and I resent someone saying things under my name that I would have never said. I mean I would not have said he was a good guy. My experience wasn't that. Maybe off forum he was different. I wouldn't Know except for one incident.
I also would have never said I respected his blackjack expertise. Not in a million years. I saw no expertise. He didn't understand basic concepts like variance. What he had was some knowledge about a very specific game, single deck that almost no other players have much access to. So even if the things he said and his methodology worked, it should have come with a disclaimer.
Non of that matters either now.
What does matter to me is every week I see new lines of decency crossed. And posting these comments under my name is such a line. It just pissed me off.
And I don't want to guess who did it. I suspect someone hoping someone like MDawg would jump in and attack me on the obit wall or that I would attach him. Apparently someone impostered Mdawg and wrote disgusting things on Moses's/Kevin's Obituary Wall. Mdawg got ragged and dragged and he says he isn't the one who wrote those disgusting things. I believe him. Remember, Mdawg also had an Imposter pretend to be him when he was Suspended on WOV and WOV Admins permanently banned him. Lots of WOV Posters stuck up for Mdawg saying they think Mdawg was being used as an unwitting Pawn in someone's sick game. Posters also pointed out Mdawg was driving to California from Las Vegas when the Imposter showed up and wasn't even on the internet at the time. Mdawg himself pointed out that he had been Suspended for almost two months at the time and he was only about a week before his two week Suspension was over and pointed out he wouldn't post with a new Account just being about a week away from his two months Suspension being over. A Poster asked this very hard hitting question. "So does this mean an Imposter can pretend to be Axelwolf if Axelwolf gets a Suspension and get him permanently banned?" The Admins took all of this seriously and found out this Mdawg Imposter had been Impostering Mdawg on multiple Websites and they reversed the permanent banning on Mdawg admitting they got played. The Imposter got banned permanently himself, not surprisingly.

There are actually a few ways to negotiate a player advantage if the casino agrees. I think I made it very clear That I’m not saying this is what mdawg is doing. However after figuring out a way to negotiate a deal that gives a player advantage I wouldn’t bet against him. The theory Oz has is not much different then what Mikki Mase is suggesting he does. I learned a long time ago in this game that when everyone says something is impossible then maybe that’s something that needs to be looked at closer.
For example your claim of counting two tables at once is absurd, however utilizing a few guys to count multiple tables for a team is not.
But I’m thinking, and willing to bet, Seed isn’t willing to put much money on much of what the person posting as “MDawg” is the truth.
Obviously he is a smart guy so the devil is in the details but it’s clear he is smart enough to know this guy isn’t pulling any AP plays for years and for hundreds (or millions) of thousands of dollars for years while bragging about it.
I wouldn’t even bet on the deal I have in place because even with an advantage We could still lose. The casino could decide to end the deal before we can show a profit. Now what if I missed a couple cards at that second table and the running count is only +7 instead of the +9 that I think? Which is the better opportunity going forward, TC -1.5 or TC +1.5? That is all we are talking about.
But anyway, I think you are right nobody could do that. ;)
By the way it is really almost a moot point now. The number of opportunities to track a second table is night and day difference from pre-covid to post covid, so this has all but dried up or at least much, much less opportunity. And covid doesn't really have anything to do with it. It is just less regular blackjack games in the pits. Casinos want to use that space for all the new games with higher house edges. The spread of stadium and electronic blackjacks hasn't helped either.
