Rough night on the strip.

I wasn't even going to play last night, but then was talked into it at the last minute. It was hot. Felt unpleasant walking, even after the sun was down. When I play the strip, I am dropped off at one location and picked up later at another with a lot of walking and even occasional travel on the packed deuce, which is always pleasant in the heat. So that was yucky.

I placed 3 sessions at 3 casinos and lost them all. Not that unusual. Not huge losses, but it drops my table game blackjack results to 4 figures almost halfway through the year. :( Those figures are skewed because I have played much less blackjack than normal while we chased the blackjack machine play around the country for several months. So probably about a quarter of my regular amount of play, and below expectation with that.

And finally, others plying their "trade" were out. Dude attempted to pick pocket me. I immediately knew when he bumped into me because it wasn't even that crowded in that area I was walking, so there was no need to bump into me. I immediately grabbed his arm. His hand was half way down my pocket, which I didn't really feel. When I grabbed his arm, be popped me in the face pretty good and ran. He got nothing. I am not going to post how I handle walking around with money, but he wasn't going to get much anyway.

A nearby dude grabbed him and he and his friend held the guy down until the cops came. I debated whether to stick around, but figures since the bystander had gone to the trouble to grab this guy, I would.

And this morning I have a pretty good shiner and lump on one eye. Life in Vegas. :rolleyes:

Is this perhaps turning your thoughts to getting a job in the casinos?

Not sure how it works but you know enough to be a suit.

It is actually NOT a bad year MrV. I have good earnings from the BJ machine play, sports betting, and a little bit of the video poker mailer play an addition to my regular table game blackjack. All in all over 80 grand just about halfway through the year. So no complaints. It is only my traditional card counting blackjack that is not going great and really more than anything it is just less play. Expectation or accumulated EV from that is only about 20k. And actual win is about half that.

MrV, I will NEVER work for or consult with the casino industry. Never EVER! I despise the industry and it's predatory practices. And I lose all respect for anyone who starts on the AP side that does so. I was particularly hard on Eliot for many years, but I don't like it even with some people that I otherwise like, like Shackleford, Wong, ect. If you are an AP, you are an AP. You don't go work for and take money from other side.

I don't really know at this point. I gave a statement of what occurred and answered a couple questions, right there on the strip, off to the side as did the guy that grabbed the dude and another woman who said she witnessed the incident. The female officer wrote it all down and took my name and info including phone number. She did not ask for ID. I don't know if I will be called to go to the station or something for something more formal or if that is it. Nor do I know if I will be called to testify or anything like that. I hope not.

Yeah, I really don't know. Maybe one of the attorneys can answer Boz.

Sadly I have heard or read that with this stuff they plead and get a fine and are released. I don't know. If I were a betting man, I would bet this guy and most of these kind of people have a rap sheet with similar charges. You would hope that after a few times they stop slapping their wrist and releasing them. But I have no confidence that is the case.

I am thinking about the case about 2 years ago where a supposed prostitute drugged a 'John" in his room, and stole his Rolex (up her coochie). A case that someone on this forum might be more familiar with than others. :D There were a couple different similar cases, so I may have it mixed up, but in one of the cases the Girl had been previously charged for the same damn thing, was released and was only back in Vegas (she was from Miami) because the court case was coming up. And she ended up doing the same damn thing again. :rolleyes:

One of the problems with this shit here in Vegas is any crime against a tourist, if they need to tourist to return sometime later for a court case, is that probably rarely happens. But there has to be something more than just returning these repeaters to the streets to do whatever again.

And in cases involving "Johns", the guys that hire prostitutes, the Johns almost surely will not show up to court if needed. Right Mdawg? :D

Yea great day, Casty finally starting to show some life with his bat as well. And watching the Braves get beat now by the Yanks so we can get one game back. Overall still need another MLB level outfielder before the playoffs but damn the starting pitching (other than Walker) has been incredible.

Headed to PA in July for the first time this year and hitting a game while I’m there against the Dodgers. Only thing other than some tomato pie I’m looking forward to on the trip actually.

IF this is true, Kewlj, there should be SOME Social Media video about it, right? I saw a viral video of a guy who took his phone back from a pickpocket and even put a "I am a thief!" Note on the pickpocket's back. ETA - Also to my knowledge pick pockets typically work in crowds, because otherwise their targets would be alert to someone standing extremely close to them. Which means it would have been crowded when and where this happens, which means more likely someone would tweet the aftermath.

Even the Yankees and Dodgers with their all start line ups have some mediocre players mixed in. That is castellanos to me. I don't know what his contract situation is, but I wouldn't give him a big fat free agent contract but he is fine as a 6 or 7 hitter and 3rd outfielder.

What I want before the trade deadline is a closer. A Bonafide lock it down closer. Phils haven't had one for a decade or more and last year it (craig Kimbral) cost them a trip to the WS. Washington who isn't going anywhere has a closer teams are talking about, but I want someone even better. Someone with years of success as a closer. And I would be willing to pay for it. Give up a decent player. Sosa comes to mind. Phils aren't going to be able to keep him anyway after this year, after he has shown he should be an everyday player. Why not get that missing piece for him.

Goofball, I live in a major city, Las Vegas (higher crime). I play in casinos 100-150 days a year (also high crime area). Down from 250-300 which I did for 12 years. Now I play the strip (even higher crime) often on weekend nights (the prime time). I am often alone when I play and walking the strip. This is part of this kind of life and lifestyle. Nick is in year 3 of a 5 year $100M contract that he’s underperforming on. For that kind of money he needs to be better, certainly not a 3rd outfielder. Hopefully he steps it up as he has through his career, he’s only 32 so it wasn’t a bad signing at the time.

I agree on a closer but the problem this season is going to be there are going to be few sellers and a lot of buyers at the deadline. With the 3rd wild card you have 8 teams within 2-3 games of the last wild card, including those with losing records. The Phillies have their best farm system in years (not hard based on the past 15 years) so they have some tools to work with if they decide to go all in this year. Which as a fan, of course I want to see.

Also today’s game is pure bullshit, starting at 11:30 here on the East Coast on Roku. I just found an app for it on my Samsung TV so I guess it’s free but still more nonsense. I buy the MLB package so I don’t have to deal with this 2 out of 3 days this weekend.

The game on Roku didn't bother me. I have Roku downloaded and occasionally watch something on it. What bothered me was 8:30 am start (here in the west). That is crazy. I have a routine in the morning, (exercising, walking before it gets to hot, making my sports bet pick) and it doesn't include watching baseball before 10am (which would be the normal 1pm east coast games).

Your Roku must be on that phone of yours. Because, otherwise, it wouldn't work while on the go from your tunnel abode!

No stable place to live, is why you rarely comment on movies or television, because you don't have a television! with which to watch anything like that.

Kew actually believes that whatever he says has GOT to be believed by everyone else. Even after being PROVEN wrong dozens of times and after being caught in lie after lie after lie.
