Caesars has massively downgraded the "4 free drink" benefit for all Diamond levels in the Vegas market

You might recall that in this thread, I first mentioned that Caesars was removing the "4 free drink benefit" in Vegas from certain players in May 2024. Then, in post #15, I mentioned a rumor that they would be doing away with the benefit entirely in February 2025.



Several employees at Vegas Caesars properties are telling me that, starting February 10, Diamond Plus and Diamond Elite will no longer have the 4 drink benefit at outlets or restaurants -- only casino bars, and no prepackaged drinks will be available as part of this benefit.

Seven Stars will reportedly keep them.


Notice I was the only one calling this back in August.

I lost my money at my local Casino around 2017 and asked for a free cup of soda at the bar and I got refused. They told me I would have to BUY the cup of soda. The soda used to be FREE. I pointed out that the soda used to be FREE at the bar and pointed out that I JUST lost my money and just wanted a free cup of soda to take the edge off. They said the rules were changed where they were no longer allowed to give free soda at the bar. Boo. :(

Here’s a pro tip. Just bring a little cartridge of CO2 and some sugar in your purse.

Then if this happens just ask for a cup of water, which should be free anywhere, then add the CO2 and sugar & you will have instant soda.

As expected, they downgraded the benefit for Diamond Plus and Elite to be bars-only today, and you also cannot use it for prepackaged drinks.

Seven Stars is unaffected.

It does, finally differentiates, Seven Stars from Diamond.
No effect for me. Used mine exclusively at bars.

Here’s a breakdown of the current Caesars Rewards Benefits:

Seven Stars - We don’t give a fuck
Diamond Elite - We really don’t give a fuck
Diamond Plus - We don’t give a fuck or a shit
Diamond - Fuck off!!!!
Platinum - Fuck off and eat a dick!!!!
Gold - Fuck off and eat two dicks!!!!

Several restaurants are listed on the flyer.

Yes, the listed restaurants are included. That's because the drinks there are essentially equivalent to the bars -- very cheap and easy for them to make.

They're getting away from Diamonds (of all levels) clogging up the retail outlets, and sucking up all the Fiji, Naked Juice, Tropicana, etc. They want you to stick to drinks in a glass that they pour from a bottle or get from a tap or machine. That is little cost to them, doesn't require stocking/restocking, and doesn't cause long lines to develop.

I don't blame them for this move. Their policy was stupid in the first place, basically inviting this "abuse".

However, this was all originally borne from cheapness, as they closed the Laurel Lounges to save $$ (originally hiding behind COVID), and then introduced this to shut people up. And in typical Caesars fashion, they didn't think about any possible exploits.

Oh, and some of the outlets won't be done updating their system until 2/24. In such cases, you can still use these benefits as Diamond Plus or Elite until they take it away.

But some are already gone, and they will all be gone for Diamonds by the 24th, except the ones listed above.

Many of the cocktails on the drink menus are not that easy to make, somewhat complicated actually, with multiple ingredients and processes.

Sure, it’s hard to make a drink like a banana daiquiri, but the person would have to order it, drink it, & then repeat the process 3 more times.

The player gets 4 bar drinks, whether they order them all at once or one per hour. But the labor cost is greater for the 3 hours. The players can order 4 drinks for the day, either for themselves over 3 hours, or a round for the table all at once, or any other configuration.

It's cheaper for Caesars if they order them all at once from the bar, but not as cheap as having the player grab 4 drinks from the cooler.

Also not sure which Las Vegas Caesars properties are retailing 1 liter Fiji waters for less than $3. That price is about what you could buy one for online.

But even if those numbers are accurate there is a huge difference between locals being able to walk in and grab 4 bottles of something to takw home vs having to get drinks made at bar that they can’t take home and stock up on.

This alone would be a huge reduction in how many people use the benefit,

If the folks who run CZR were smart, they would have figured out a way of modifying the perk so that their high value customers weren’t pissed off. For example, they could have started by requiring that players had a hotel reservation in order to use the vouchers. This might not have been a complete fix, but it would certainly have removed the vast majority of abuse.

I get the sense El Dorado got in way over its head with the acquisition. They have not made a single decision which makes their properties more attractive to their gaming customers. It’s the opposite in fact. And their employees are also not happy about many of their decisions.

I walked into a Caesars-owned Starbucks the other day. A medium lemonade-based drink was $12. A croissant was $9. It’s clear CZR is taking the approach that all they need to do is sell a low volume of product to a small number of people who have a ton of money to burn and they will do better than trying to sell to a larger market. This might work in the short term, but is unsustainable. And consumers have long memories.

Which is a complete reverse of the Loveman Total Rewards days, in which they would entice you to come back regularly. Coupons, free play, Lounges, shows, ect. Brand loyalty has it's benefits. With CET not anymore.

it all goes back to El Diablo. Before the merger El Diablo, was a collection of one trick pony casinos in individual towns. Most of those towns had little to none competition, so they were able to treat their players like crap and the players had no choice and being degenerates they probably didn't care to begin with (or happy with a ten dollar sandwich , once a week). El Diablo took that mindset to the big leagues and this is the end result. The Carano family has always been very dismissive of its customers.

I appreciate the confidence in my vp ability. But I didn't just "walk-in, sit down, and bang it out at will". I risked $400k, and lost a chunk of it prior to the hit ($1.5mil btw). How many people you know on these forums would be willing to do that? That, along with my past successful play, is why I'm #1 in all time vp play. Like it or not!

Anyone who chooses to play at CET properties these days should know they're gonna get shafted, insulted, and stripped of their gambling dignity. And CET obviously waters down their drinks.

But I digress. I am fascinated by the idea that CET waters down their drinks. I haven't been in a CET lounge since my friend Al (featured here in the video "Touch Me Now") hosted us a couple of years ago. Now I really want to know if they water down their drinks, just because that seems like such a CET kind of thing to do. I will endeavor to ask as many CET employees as possible if CET waters down their lounge drinks. It's a great conversation-starting question.

Big Gorgeous does a prelude segment before playing. The "Origin of Big Gorgeous" as presented in the show is that he crawled out of a Centralia mine pit fire after being abandoned as an infant.

I will check out the owner next look.

Centralia is so classic. When I was a kid, working on my grandfather's milk truck with the dairy in Mt. Carmel, we saw the first public cave-in on the road heading from Mt. Carmel to Centralia, about 200 yards outside of Centralia. A pit just opened on the other side of the highway. Allegedly, nobody knew what it was at the time. Turned out to be a prelude to whole mess.

Centralia is in my old high school district.

Caesars has had some decent promos lately, picked up a few thousand dollar Louis Vuitton purse, diamond tennis bracelet, about six thousand dollars in airline gift cards, about the same in Visa gift cards, about twelve grand in free play certs (their equivalent of promo chips, but that expire in 3 days) all for the same winning play that I was going to put in anyway.

Many of the cocktails on the drink menus are not that easy to make, somewhat complicated actually, with multiple ingredients and processes.

They're definitely not easier to make as whatever comes in sealed can or bottle, and many of the locations with those options were self-serve (Starbucks, gift shops & food court), but it looks like they took all the self-serve options away.

I understand that the 4-drink players were emptying the shelves of Fiji, San Pellegrino, Red Bull, etc...taking 4 at a time.

I occasionally saw that happening myself Sports Tv...and I read locals admitting to coming in everyday to stock up for home.

Look at the benefits for Diamond Plus (now basically useless, except for the markets which still have lounges), Diamond Elite, and Seven Stars, and you'll see that the spend required to get there dwarfs what realistic benefits you'll get.

Most people erroneously believe that higher tier status equals better offers, but of course that isn't true at all. Offers have nothing to do with tier status.

Base Diamond gets you no resort fees (huge), the priority lines/registration, and also inherits the free parking benefit from Platinum. That's really all you need.

Harrahs AC recently changed the name of their Diamond Lounge to the Harbor Club, and brought back their hot & cold buffet...but did not rehire any servers.

The talk is that they changed the name to be able to claim that the room is a new venue, and therefore not contractually obligated to rehire the servers laid off when they discontinued the buffet.

They also changed the entry requirements, such that Diamond Plus requires 1000 RCs each for the cardholder and one guest. Previously, Diamond Plus status awarded the cardholder and one guest free entry.

Diamond Elite & Seven Stars are still free entry.

Another notable change, is that they installed GameKing multis into the HC's bartop. My understanding was that this was illegal, since all gaming was required to be available to the public, not exclusive to "VIPs" or whatever.

If they do as good of job of maintaining legal compliance as they do with maintaining their properties it might be.

I worry that casino executives will soon run out of superlative words in English in their pursuit of ever more out of reach rewards tiers and non stop re-branding. This will force them to mine words from more obscure languages, such as Tok Pisin, the lingua franca of Papua New Guinea. There the locals will teach them the word "pinis" which sort of means "ultimate" but unfortunately sounds a lot like penis.

BTW one thing I noticed when it comes to food and beverage comps at Caesars, no matter how much you have played and earned in theo, on check out they seem to tap your rewards points first! and then the host comps off the rest. They don't seem to do this against the room comp but yes against the food and beverage. That sucks if you were planning to use the points for something while not staying at the resort, just for little food purchases when you don't want to bother with a slip comp.

On a stay with a lot of food and beverage this may wipe out all your rewards points.

Yeah this goes back over a decade. Occasionally you could get a host to make an exception to it in the past, but I think even that stopped.

There used to be a trick where you could use up your RCs booking a non-Caesars hotel at lolbad rates, then get your host to comp you stuff because you now have 0 RCs, and then at the end of the trip, you cancel the reservation and get all the RCs back. But that partnership ended because nobody used it, since it was a terrible deal otherwise.

To take it one step further form what jpinla said, it's possible you can buy something expensive in gift shop with RCs, don't open it, and then return it after the host comps off your bill, and get the RCs back. But make sure beforehand that they accept returns and can refund the RCs in the case you do. Make sure you specify that you will return the item untouched/unopened. For example, you can say, "I'm buying this bag for my girlfriend but I'm not sure if she will show up this trip, so if she doesn't can I return this and get my RCs back, provided it's still in new condition and untouched?"
