Here's my take: I'm of the belief that Alan did see 18 straight yo's because other than his propensity to "confuse" certain events at times and extend arguments for who knows why, I don't know him to be a general liar. Why? Because it is physically and mathematically possible--regardless how extraordinarily improbable it may be. You can't believe in mathematical fact on the one hand, then scoff it off on the other.
