Thread: Chinook Winds reopening

  1. #1
My "go to" casino, Chinook Winds at Lincoln City, is reopening 1/15/21 after being shut down for awhile due to the virus pandemic.

I got an offer of a room for $24.99 which is the lowest I've ever seen it.

Comes with running water and elk running in the water.

    What, Me Worry?

I thought that your "go to" forum was the WoV. What happened? Didn't anyone there even notice that you vanished, last Grounghog Day?

Well, I guess that you showed them by coming back here with the same old dull posts aimed at throwing in your impotent attempts at humor, or, was it just for the attention you can't find at home?

Bye, bye, MrV. See you at the casinos. Not.

Say, turns out that there is a big thread about changing your own oil, over there. Right up your alley. Ha.

Oooh, so now you admit what I suspected: you no longer gamble having busted out long ago, and now you only haunt these boards to get a fix.

Garnabby, you were a douche on other boards and your singular desire to attract attention to yourself while contributing nothing of value continues unabated here.

You're the board's male version of Tasha: no, that's not a compliment.

Lots of faulty reasoning there. No wonder that you're just a divorce lawyer. I mean, there must be as much important case law in that department. Not.

Wanna bet, big boy? You've been shitting on the gambling forums, for years. I've put up lots of factual information, in response to the crap from others. Stuff that took a bit digging as proof.

I've been mostly at this one, for some time now. This has to have become the hands down best gambling forum, ever. A handful of crank posts at the Wizard's, over the years, after I easily determined that it was a total scam job by someone too useless to figure out a real one. Some still at the now defunct Penalty Box, mostly in my own thread there. A series of very short posts at Gamblingforums.com because the political action, etc, here has thinned out in the last couple of months.

For me, a fun diversion from the serious theoretical stuff. Stuff that has next to nothing to do with math and physics. Say, thank you. Now I understand that particular persons just don't want to hear anything about science, couldn't care less about math and the like. In fact, I used to take off months and months at a time from the internet, to more focus on my theory. A rhythm to it. Activities and directions of thought that weren't compatible with what I was trying to accomplish. Maybe, the brain, too, does require fallow seasons.

1 : usually cultivated land that is allowed to lie idle during the growing season. 2 obsolete : plowed land. 3 : the state or period of being fallow Summer fallow is effective for destroying weeds. 4 : the tilling of land without sowing it for a season.

Well, at least, you didn't try to claim that Tasha, and I, were the same person.

You should look up old male nurse and pharmacist LarryS, and, then, try to figure out the formula for something called CompoundV. Compound W for warts, and, CompoundV for mental warts, aka stupidity.

Seriously, you guys live in a world of talking about yourselves. When that didn't work, then, you moved on to projecting yourselves on others.

Ozzy, you really do never say anything. MrV, by trying to wax eloquent. Just some guy who thinks he's an academic, or tries to let on.

Of course, very likely, no one here can sense the difference.

Oh, I neglected to mention the old Gamblers Glen. Ha, there was a short-lived new one started by Donali or someone from the old one. Purely a gambling systems forum. Lots of fun times there, too, and, with also MrV. I was a bit late to the game there, around 2008/9, after my start at the one called BaccaratForums.com, the year before. I vaguely remember one of MrV's longer more ornate posts there, something about fictional characters from books. Johno and GreatPlayer were popular posters. I recall JBrockBetting's relatively fewer posts about telling people off. He was the best such poster, ever, a notch or two above the likes of Crimm, and Blackhole.

Anyway, the thing about tuning some things out while other things in, and back and forth, is that one is more able to derive a sustainably elaborate approach to things in general and specific. Because one's truly creative scientific lifespan is relatively short, one must, at the same time, find ways to incorporate the associated matter into what is discovered. In other words, if you retain an everyday working knowledge of most areas of only math and physics, and other studies, then you will be pretty much sunk, the older you become. Your discoveries will pale alongside your working knowledge, etc, of things.

Einstein's big idea was to keep as much relevant, non-trivial stuff (opposed to that found in and let to the libraries) in his head, at once, and, then, to better and better form the connections between. Unfortunately, that isn't a naturally convergent, and self-contained, process. The older he became, the more convoluted were his equations of everything, in terms of his theory of relativity. On the end, he wrote that he thought that he was a failure because he had lost his imagination. Look, there is no one way to solve for every thing, and everything. And, the solver has to realize that he/she is part of things. Namely, that one must then solve for also oneself, especially for one's way of thinking, itself, one's consciousness, and, in general and specific. That such a solution can be complete only in the sense that it must, forever, be unpacked. (One unique solution of an infinity of different mathematics and physics, etc, but which are all solved, at once, instead of let to layers of an "onion".)

Gambling boards have come and gone throughout the years.

I started out with John Patrick's board and a usenet board, I think it was something like alt.rec.gambling.

The best "insulter" I've come across was on the alt.rec.gambling board: a guy from Texas called "Mason."

IIRC, he regularly chewed alan m. (cub reporter) a new asshole for spewing vapid nonsense.

Patrick's board featured LarryS. and a guy unmercifully targeted named Frank Stanton.

Those boards are dead so far as i can tell.

And who can forget Mark Howe, et al and all the flame wars between roulette players at the Glen?

"Psstt ... hey little boy ... wanna buy a roulette computer?"

Garnabby is a bit of an enigma in that it is difficult to say whether his "mad scientist" shtick may be heartfelt or bullshit: I've concluded he probably believes it.

IIRC he was never quite this weird at Gamblers Glen, it is as if some part of his brain has since gone beyond zebra ...

His "theory of everything" is an obvious rip off of Hawking; his numerology fascination indicates a mind that's run off its tracks.

So long as he is civil and doesn't babble too much I'm OK with interacting with him; we have a history of haunting gambling boards for a couple of decades, approximately, yet I suspect he's best kept on a short leash.

I'm not particularly put off by his insults as I can give as good as I get, and hey, "Nobody's perfect."

    Ah, no.

In internet parlance, MrV is the gift that keeps giving.

So was LarryS. So, naturally, they perpetually primed each other. Two Penalty Box atheists on a seesaw.

It's okay, Tasha. I value your opinion.

On the other hand, I suggest that you read up on Alan Mendelson's last month here, under that very handle. Didn't MrV shamelessly lead the merciless feeding frenzy? Then, they gorged on the remains.

If I recall, I was the only one to try, a time or two, back then, to breathe some calm and mercy into the ravenous attack. Oh, and it may have been that even Dan stepped in to shed some obvious perspective.

All that remained of Alan was some forever psychologically misshapen ghost named, Andrew. The most bizarre thing you will, ever, see on any internet forum, up to suicide by cyber stalking.

Climbing the walls, I finally said "fuck this shit" and went and gambled.

Left early afternoon yesterday for the coast, and returned home 24 hours later.

Stayed at the motel at the Chinook Winds casino for the reduced rate of around $24.99; had nice ocean view.

Planned to have Chinese food for dinner: closed, so returned to casino for buffet: closed also.

Covid sure has a lot of things closed or open limited days only.

Normally I come back from a gambling trip feeling a bit like the proverbial beaten red-headed step-child, as I am not an AP: but not this trip.

Stopped initially on the way to the coast at Spirit Mtn. and won $70.00 on my favorite game there, ten dollar double diamond.

At the coast I hit a $1200.00 handpay on my favorite machine (double 3x4x5x pay): the symbols came up three bars, three bars, and a 4X pay symbol @ $10 bet.

    Ka-ching.

Paid uncle sam $250.00 for taxes, netting $950; pissed about half of that away (typical ploppie gambler) and left the coast up $534.00.

Stopped at a dispensary on the way out of town (T.E.R.P.) and scored a couple grams of hybrid and motored on toward the old homestead.

On the way home I stopped at Spirit Mtn. for lunch; I brought a one hundred dollar bill in with me, to try my luck.

Well, like their ad says: "luck happens:" on my second pull on the ten dollar double diamond I hit for a grand: double diamond, double bar, double diamond.

    Cashed out immediately and left.

Total winnings / profit for the trip: $1584.00.

The itch has been thoroughly scratched.

I like the drive to Chinook Winds even tho the road is curvey and lots of traffic.

    Absolutely.

That areas got hit by wildfires; a good friend of mine has a house outside of Lincon City on the Salmon River, and the wildfires scorched the earth to within a couple hundred yards of his home: he lucked out but many of his friends and neighbors lost everything.

I visited the area shortly after the fires stopped spreading and helped him at the local Grange hall with getting used clothing for the many fire victims in the area: quite a few houses were burned to cinders, just like in California.

Some of the fire damage is visible when driving in to the area on the main hwy, Or. Hwy 18; the charred remains of some houses / structures are visible, burnt to the ground.

    Very sad.

Today Traffic in that area was stopped briefly as loggers were busy cutting and removing some of the burned yet presumably still valuable timber, and boy howdy a shit load of timber is gone.

The fire came close to town, burning in spots to East Devils Lake Road, the road flanking the edge of Devils Lake.
