The fact that Singer knew the sequence was wrong is not as definitive as some people think as many people seemed to have this knowledge. There are many ways and people one could learn that from.
I don't disbelieve you, so I have no need to contact that author. The individual that I spoke to (who definitely participated in the DUB) might just not remember that the article had the mistake intentionally...he recalls that there IS an inaccuracy, so that's what is relevant. After all, the WIRED article was published in 2014, so that's a pretty specific thing whether the inaccuracy is intentional or not.
