That's right. I saw the new Weird Al movie and it was straight forward with no contrived diversity as you describe. I thought the movie was solid and I appreciate the heads up. The Madonna parody throughout much of the movie was funny as was the fallacious concept that MJ's Beat It was a parody of Al's Eat it.
It seems when I read the user reviews, they either really love it or really hate it.
I got the jokes far more than my uncle did as he has a difficult time comprehending what AL was doing with this parody/satire movie.
AL likes to do this sort of thing pushing viewers or listeners to see how much he can irritate them.
That's fine.
I liked the concept for the first hour.
The movie started to spiral out of control for me once Madonna was kidnapped.
I think Weird AL missed a chance to do his Rambo impersonation from UHF as I was really expecting it and even forecasted it.
But I guess AL did that already so probably didn't want to do it again as he seems to like to do new material.
The ending was a bit abrupt for me and fell flat with the comedy as it was difficult for me to associate real life into this fictitious ending/parody world.
I mean take Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison.
Both movies are just as ridiculous, but I can watch them over and over again and laugh at the jokes.
Most likely due to those characters not based off of someone's famous life and career.
I get what Weird AL was doing and how he is making fun of Biopics and Hollywood it is just a bit too much for me knowing most of his real life timeline.
The movie was free and I could feel different in the future but I doubt I would add the dvd to my collection.
I feel a little bad for the salesman with the collapsed lung but I thought the Polka Party and Copper bit was pretty genius.
