A couple of comments, some of which reference your other post regarding Criss Angel:
One of my best friends just shot a music video with an established illusionist who works on cruise ships and other venues. He knows the illusionist well. The take on Copperfield varies wildly depending on which professionals you ask and which show you have seen. I think I'm correct when I say that Penn and Teller have been lukewarm regarding Copperfield and Angel. I have great respect for and admire Penn and Teller and have followed them since they began.
My friend who shot the video took us to the previous Copperfield show, which he liked very much, but what he liked was the tone and stagecraft, the cohesiveness and the writing of the show. I have never been a huge Copperfield fan and I don't pretend to have the expertise to evaluate anything in the show, stagecraft or the illusions themselves. But I have liked other magic shows more than the Copperfield presentations because I find the writing a little saccharine for my taste.
I think Penn and Teller appeared in an early television episode of MindFreak, but what I recall is they were very low key as if they may have been contractually obligated but not happy about it.
Here's the video by the band, Big Gorgeous, called Psychic Surgery:
