It's possible that V is softening in his older age.
But just as likely is that he's continuing to offer a little UNKewlJ support even after the boy slapped him in the face with one lie after another tried to make a fool out of him, just so that he doesn't look like a complete idiot who was taken in by a sociopath. By acting like, "What me worry?" he minimizes the perceived fall out from having played the manipulated fool.
Still, I can't see how he can overlook the times that he even gave UNKewLyingJ an opportunity to come clean and admit that there was no lawsuit, and UNKewlJ didn't even send the man a PM other than more lying PMs that continued with the same charade. That sort of targeting an older guy with lies to serve his own end, is exactly what sociopathic hustlers do.
If you want to just look at one simple thing here. UNKewlJ started off by implying that the whole backrooming thing happened in South Point. At that point, if he had kept with that, it could be at least somewhat contended that he did that to "throw people off "(protect his anonymity) from finding the place where the incident actually occurred. (Although still, saying nothing at all not bringing the incident up to begin with, would be the method of choice to keep it under wraps.)
But, once he came back and retracted that implied statement, said that the thing never happened in South Point at all, any such argument goes out the window. How does it protect anonymity to offer up a lie and then retract it? Now you know where the incident did not happen which actually brings his audience one step closer to where it did happen (if it ever happened anywhere, which of course - it did not).
Obviously, every detail he offered related to the incident was offered in the hopes that we would believe the story. And he retracted only the details that were disproven, because he had to, in a desperate attempt to seem credible in the wake of a crumbling story.
Similarly, the entire nonsense about the lawsuit, whether there was or wasn't a lawsuit served only the purpose of trying to back up that the incident had happened at all, and lying about a lawsuit and then admitting that there never was one did not protect anything, let alone his "anonymity." Just stupid that he'd even think that such pretzel logic could be accepted by anyone. Someone that stupid, with such a poor read on his intended audience, no way he'd survive in a casino environment. The guy can't even decide what to say or not say to make his point.
On the other hand, street hustlers are often barely functional, on drugs, mentally ill, barely able to show up to meet their next trick, but still somehow manage to get by on some low level. This guy, dwelling in the undergrounds of Vegas or slums of Philly with just a couple shopping carts to his name, could get by in that environment, not so much anywhere else.
