I have a good friend that works the pit at a strip casinos. Ironically that friendship was born from a card counter/pit person situation. He was working the pit on a day that I had what is still my greatest day (or shoe to be more exact). I have shared that story, and am not going to do so again here. This believe it or not is a management position. Thus my use of the terms exec. Probably should have just said management.
I am extremely fortunate to have a friend in such a position. Anyone not understanding how powerfully beneficial that would be for a card counter, doesn't know card counting. And I am not talking about anything like collusion, or allowing me to play when he shouldn't, and looking the other way. That doesn't and has never occurred.
But as management, and with the computer right there in the pit, he does have access to information about me (think database info), that is extremely valuable. Card counters draw heat and consequences that they sometimes don't even know about, because there was no back off. Maybe the next time you play there is, or maybe you are just very much on their radar, which is a situation you would want to avoid. (shorten longevity). So most card counters wouldn't know that, if no official backoff had occurred.
I am lucky enough that I know that and know this information and can take whatever steps I need to have the situation blow over. (these periods are usually temporary). So I avoid that property and personnel involved for a period, avoiding that next pending backoff or baring. Extremely beneficial and powerful in terms of longevity, which is my top priority. I am so, so fortunate to have that via this friendship.
Getting caught up in meaningless forum garbage, as I sometimes do, I discussed Mdawg and his claims with my friends, who sometimes reads these forums. His immediate response was what Mdawg claimed just isn't happening. Same response most APs and real players have. So here is where I went wrong. I asked him to look around and ask around and find out what he could find out about a higher end player playing blackjack and bacarát that had been comped suites for 6 straight months (at that time). I didn't know what if anything he would or could dig up. Turns out he did. And when you think about it there just aren't that many players that meet that criteria, so probably wasn't that hard.
When he handed me that info, just gambling records win loss for that trip, I was giddy. I knew I had the dawg. Oh he would come up with some bullshit answer and triple down attacks on me, but I had proof that his claims were bullshit, which we all knew. Turns out Mdawg panicked and pulled that "about even" line, which for all intensive purposes ended any credibility and run.
BUT in sharing everything that I shared including source, I put my friend in jeopardy. I never really considered that. Again, I should have never done that for stupid internet garbage, as much as I wanted to. Massive regret on my part. Luckily nothing came of it.
If you or anyone thinks it is far fetched that people in Vegas are friends with or know someone in the industry, you don't understand Las vegas and the small town that it is despite 2 million people.
If you think it usual for a pit person and a card counter AP to have a friendship, maybe you don't know or understand pit critters. Many of them are AP's or card counters at some level in their own time. there is a natural connection.
If you think friends don't do favors for friends, even stupid things they probably shouldn't, well they do.
So I am not sure exactly what is so unbelievable about this experience. I mean it is not like I said I got the information from some top secret Isreali commando (Rob).
I reside in Las Vegas. I have a friend that works the pits and has access to certain Information. I asked for a favor, I never should have and he delivered. End of story.
