I hope this isn't too recent. June 4th, Sporttrade CEO Alex Kane (@a_kane47) appeared on the Unabated Podcast.

Sporttrade is a betting exchange operating in NJ, CO and IA. Kane is promoting the idea of tiered tax rates to encourage competition. Last month, Illinois implemented a tiered hike, settling on a 20 to 40% range.

Kane argues that tax preferences for smaller operators would allow the market to be more fully served, reducing the attraction of offshore sportsbooks and thereby satisfying legislative enthusiasm for consumer protection.

On a similar note, because of its operating model, Sporttrade doesn't restrict winners. The majors could be targeted for punitive tax rates if they're perceived as not treating customers fairly.

Sounds like communism to me, but it could produce a more viable landscape for advantage bettors.

The Sports Betting App said he was +240 and I chose him. My eye FIRST went to Sawicki, Grzegorz, but it said he was -170 and I didn't want to bet someone who was -170, so I chose the one that was +270. Lo and behold, Sawicki WON and Adamiak LOST. I would have won $54 if I had gone with Sawicki.

I won my $10 back as the "First bet is reimbursed if it loses," Promotion. I bet it on The Brewers that were +175. The Brewers lost.

On the bright side, I got the $50 free play Promotion from Hialeah Park Casino. I left the Casino with about $80. And I made 53 points.

I looked up what - and + means after I lost my Bonus Bet on The Brewers. Turns out that - is the FAVORITE and the - is the LONGSHOT. I honestly thought it was the opposite way around.

No, I hadn't seen that. That's a shame. He was legit, and I always appreciated his flat caps, which I am partial to as soon as the leaves turn brown. Another classic handicapper gone. I have a long Mike Lee story for you if I ever meet you in person. Karen knew Mike when he was a relatively young man in LV. I had the misfortune of winning a contest against thousands of people that would have put me under Mike Lee at The National for at least a year. The National, however, folded after about 60 days. Lee was heartbroken. So was I, but I always figure the worst, so not as heartbroken as Lee.

Salute to Cokin. Not an idiot and he cared, which in this business is a rare parlay.

The 900 number forays weren't a completely bad thing (I was on one or two of those myself when with Playbook). I mean, I could see, pre-internet, how they were useful and cutting edge for a number of years. The problem was that some folks (Mike "Warren," for example) went hog wild and weren't doing anyone any good. If people got their money back after losers or set-ups like that, I couldn't fault the concept.
