Best non-Penn&Teller Magic Shows in Vegas? And other suggestions

Will be in Vegas in a few weeks with my teenage kids. We’ve seen P&T a few times so I’d like to find a good magic show, that is appropriate for teens. Prefer a skilled magician, not just flashing lights and a fog machine. Any recommendations?

Also, is Blue Man Group worth it? Any other recommendations?

Seriously though most of the posters on this forum don't go to the shows but hopefully someone will chime in with a valid opinion on your inquiry. Almost all the time I spend in Vegas is gambling.

For magic, I recommend the Mac King Comedy Magic Show at Harrah's. He is very talented, and his show is teen-friendly with lots of laughs and impressive tricks. Blue Man Group is also a great option, full of energy and music, definitely worth seeing.
I've been to both, and my kids loved it. Vegas has a lot to offer, so you'll surely find something you all enjoy. Good luck and have fun!

The only 2 shows that stick out for me are KA and blue man. Blue man has that crowd participation. KA has the crazy elaborate set.

I always liked the Amazing Johnathan saw him more times than anyone probably should, but he's dead since 2022 (not just dark, but dead).

Johnathan was a severe drug addict who died from a congenital heart defect condition (something like UNKewlJ), and believed that the methamphetamine kept him alive.

I can tell you stories about Johnathon. I knew him personally, not well though, through my late partner. To be honest, Johnathon always creeped me out the times I would meet and talk to him. If you attended one of his Halloween parties, Dark doesn't begin to describe him.

We met Johnathon at Krave, a gay club at the corner of the Planet Hollywood complex that we frequented once a week or so back about 10-12 years ago. Johnathon wasn't gay or anything, that I know of, but he performed at that time at a theater right next door to Krave and would stop in for a drink after his show. He didn't drink alcohol at least at that time. So while I was on the dance floor dancing, Johnathon and my late partner, who were about the same age, would sit and talk. He seemed very interested in our relationship, and the 20 year difference in age. I later learned that Johnathon had a close personal relationship with Joel Ozborn, a comedian 20 years younger than him. I am not saying it was sexual as both presented as straight, but there was something going on there. It had a vibe to it.

Anyway, we were invited to The Amazing Underground, which was a warehouse Johnathon owned or rented, just off Sunset road, just east of the airport. He housed his classic car collection there, consisting of 20 or so vehicles from the 50's and 60's and had turned the warehouse into a replica drive-in movie theater, where he would screen actual movies. Friends and guests would sit in the cars to watch the movies. He had concession stands and the whole works.

Later we attended a Halloween party at the same location. The cars had been removed, and the warehouse transformed into a very dark haunted house. There were body bags and coffins and people jumping out from the dark at you all night long at every turn. Lots of blood and gore and body parts and girls with live snakes. He really went all out. We were invited to a second Halloween party, but I didn't want to go. It was too dark for me and many people were just too tweaked out for my liking.

And then we sort of lost touch with Johnathon. His show changed location and Krave later closed. He next I heard he announced his heart medical condition and announced he had only a year to live, but I think lived another 6 or 7. My partner passed away during that time, and I never saw Johnathon again.

But it does make sense that when someone mentions something, that UNKewlJ would step in to claim some sort of affiliation.

The thing about KJ - if you actually read what he writes - is that he constantly echoes the words/phrases and themes of the immediately previous replies by others. As I noted, a while back, he's extremely suggestible. Not someone in control of even his own life. People don't always end up in places like Vegas by their own conscious volition. My guess would be some nut-job living from one day to the next, now on the internet. Certainly of negligible intelligence, etc.

Now, if any of what UNKewlJ mentions above IS true, then nailing exactly who and what he is will be pretty simple, as I am in touch with his ex, so next time I get a chance I will show this post to her and see what she knows.

I posted the following several years ago, so Dawgs assertion that I never posted knowing Johnathan is more Dawg bullshit. (or I guess Dogshit)

I knew Jonathan a little bit back in 2011-2012. It was really my partner who became casual friends with him at the time. I will get into that in a moment. At that time Jonathon had been diagnosed with a major heart condition but was still performing. I don't know, but I suspect that because he has had this heart condition for 15 years now, which certainly would have placed him in high risk category, he got vaccines and boosters. Just a guess.

So we met Jonathon at a gay club on the corner of LVB and Harmon, attached to Planet Hollywood Casino. Jonathon was not gay that I know of (married to a woman) but at the time was performing at Planet Hollywood nightly and he would stop by the club after his show for a drink or two (I believe non-alcoholic). That is where my partner met him (I was usually on the floor dancing). They were almost the same age and had a lot in common and would talk for an hour or so many nights.

We were invited to attended a screening at Jonathon's, "drive in movie theater", which was a warehouse converted to resemble an old drive in movie theater. Jonathon collected old cars from the 70's and had maybe 20 at the "drive-in" that guests would occupy to watch the movie. There were concession stands and the ceiling was painted with stars. It was pretty cool.

We also attended one of his Halloween parties at his home that he was known for. He went all out. He took Halloween very seriously. It was like a really good haunted house that evolved into a party.

My partner and Jonathon grew apart after that as we moved from the condo we were living at a block from the strip and Jonathon's show at Planet Hollywood closed. Jonathon's show moved to one of the casinos downtown for a period and then I heard stopped performing altogether due to his declining health. Rest in peace Jonathon

I don't have a heart defect. But my first heart valve replacement due to a virus that damaged the value occurred in 2011, several years before we met Johnathan and even more years before I learned he had a heart issue which I believe, not sure, but believe may have been from birth, but worsened over time.
