We all understand that you must play rated to take advantage or promos and mailers.

But what about the security firms that seek to identify players, be they cheaters, winning players, or regulars who play anonymously? Don't they use surveillance to determine identities, matching photos or footage of an anonymous player at one property, to a rated player at another property?

You raise a kind of interesting question, as I always assumed it was the casino staff and not outside "security firms" that did that sort of thing?

Are you claiming that OSN (or whomever) does anything other than compile, collate and disseminate info reported to them by the casinos, e.g. do they have "agents" in casinos who are actively trying to discern which unrated players are AP's?

I think not, but hey, I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

Absolutely! THAT is what advantage play is really all about now (especially table game, but machines as well because of the multi-carders of the paster number of years). It is not enough to figure, learn or have someone share a play at an advantage. You have to figure out how to play to draw minimal attention and still be welcome to play. You have to learn just what is and isn't tolerated. Learn how to play the game within the game. This is really where I believe I have done really well. Nothing I do is new or original. I just learn and figure out how to do it and still be able to play (longevity).

And really this is why I get so annoyed at people like Dawg, that tell you the casinos don't care. That tell you he can spread $100-$500 playing rated, win millions and casinos don't care. Besides all the ridiculous winning that he claims, this is just NOT how it works and it is insulting to not just me but every real player that works at winning.

Outside agents is one of the big changes in the last decade. It started with the database companies like OSN, biometrics but that was only the beginning. Then there were all these 'consultants" and consulting firms, like Eliot, that came along convincing casinos they had a much bigger problem with AP and APs winning money than they really did. Now you have all these outside interests taking money from casinos to "look out for them".

In the end casinos are spending $1 to save a nickel, maybe $1 to save a penny. And yet none of the accountant types that run casinos have figured that out. You can bet if the old time casino guys that used to run casinos were still running things they wouldn't be spending a buck to save a few cents.

Are you recognized as a "regular" at any of the properties in your rotation?

Not asking about the casino where you won 6 tournaments, or others where play rated.

I mean the places where you regularly play professionally, at your current increased stakes, anonymously?

This is the first time I recall you admitting to having played blackjack as a rated player.

Have you mentioned this before, and were there other casinos where you played blackjack as a rated player, such that you provided your true identity to the casino?

Wouldn't that also expose your identity to the casinos where you played anonymously?
Since you asked a reasonable question, in a respectful manner, I will answer. (and probably regret doing so).

Playing anonymously (unrated) depends on the play. Sometimes you do....sometimes you dont.

With straight counting, I rarely played rated. No reason too. It identifies you and makes it easier for casinos to string together results and see what you are doing. Additionally, casinos just don't give you much for table play anymore.

But other plays, like the above-mentioned Jerry's nugget play or several other plays, especially promo type play, you HAVE to play rated. There is no play unless you are playing rated.

Additionally, all of our machine VP play was done playing rated. Had to be to get the mailers which made the play +EV.

I did need to be careful at casinos where I played blackjack unrated (card counting) and also played rated on machines. I always assumed that surveillance would follow me and piece it together, so I never went from one directly to the other. If I played rated and unrated at different activities on the same trip, it would be seperated by lunch or something.

That was very clever. Were you wearing a mask for the first session, the later session, or did you wear a mask for lunch and then a different mask for the later session?

This reminds me very much of the "when does a session end and another begin?" stop-loss argument. You play unrated, then tag lunch-time, then play rated going forward. Since surveillance is both blind and retarded, it works every time.

It's an odd storyline. About 95% of the time when making a wager, I didn't care if management knew who I was or whatever, but the 5% of the time I cared, it would never have occurred to me to make one wager clandestinely, stay in the same casino, then make another wager while announcing my identity an hour later.

I'm not saying the KewlJ(s) didn't do this. I'm saying it is a bizarre and potentially self-sabotaging way to operate. I can't say it would even occur to me; it's so bizarre.

Why would anyone even do this? Why operate this way? It's Russian roulette. It's only a matter of time and circumstance until you are nailed. I gotta ask Munchkin about the sanity of this; this storyline sticks out like the proverbial thumb you just hit with a narrative hammer.

I see nothing wrong with it.

You seem to think the casinos have a discerning eye; KJ bets that they don't / won't link a rated slot player to an unrated table games player.

I suppose the easiest way he'd be "caught" would involve a pit boss / floorman noticing he plays unrated at tables and wins, and then later espying him putting a card into a machine.

    Hey V, here's my recommendation.

Before slathering your opinion onto the discussion, go try this kewlJ(s)-style at a Native American casino. Card count unrated, then go play slots rated the same day. See how long you last.

    Twenty years? LOL.

Besides lying to us about doing a podcast redietz also lied to us about his credit rating. He thought he had us when he requested we show proof we had credit and said he would show proof of his own credit rating. He thought for sure that AP's couldn't possibly have credit, much less a good credit rating. He thought he had us by the short hairs.

But when we showed proof of good credit ratings he tried to say the proof was no good. He backed down from showing his own credit rating. Said he would send it to Druff for verification. When was that? In 2023? WTF is taking so long? Hahahahaha! Druff hasn't gotten jackshit from redietz about his credit score.

Lying about the podcast....and lying about sending his credit score to Druff, calls into question everything redietz has ever told us. He's never put up any proof about his sportsbetting record either.
Druff, let us know when you receive redietz’ credit score.

I don't play BJ, let alone count, so I have to look between the tea leaves to glean a scintilla of gambling wisdom.

I think what you are saying is that such play would be detected in a tribal casino, but KJ plays in LV where there are I believe only one or maybe two tribal casinos?

Just wondering: why would the Indians notice but not a big joint like MGM or even a smaller LV casino such as MSS?

No, what I'm saying is that whatever the KewlJ(s) are selling with this particular narrative, my inclination is to not buy it. I can't see a serious gambler worried about exposure doing one thing unrated for a few hours, eating lunch, then doing something else rated to get perks. One red flag was the lunch mention -- you're not even switching shifts, including management and surveillance.

Maybe people do this kind of thing, but if you are actually doing it for serious money, why would you slop around and do it this way? I don't see the percentage -- you want to save gas money by not making two trips?!?

Anyway, I'll make a note to bring it up with Munchkin next time I see him. I will, of course, defer to his opinion. Maybe machine/blackjack "APs" are this sloppy to save gas money; what do I know? Or maybe there's some exclusive surveillance hack available only to Villanova attendees. I can only speculate.

I'm curious as to what the usual cast of alleged "APs" have to say regarding this. Do you really show up in the morning, play unrated, then eat lunch and play rated at something else, and think nobody is connecting your two activities? Is that a common and/or reasonable thing to do?

It cracks me up the way Redietz constantly 'name-drops'. "A top person in this field". "A professor of this or that". "Some author that most of us have never heard of".

Lately he has been name dropping Munchkin a lot. Like they are best buddies. Red has never been on the show. I guess they have talked a couple times, maybe met once. Is that about right Red?

Well I have news for you, Mr Red. I used to speak privately with Munchin quite a bit back in 2011-2013, when we were both at BJinfo and later Norm's forum. Munchkin invited me to be on GWAE way back then, 2012ish. I declined as it just wasn't something I was interested in as an active player. I share what I decide I want to share about my experiences. I didn't think it fair to have someone like Munchkin ask me questions I am not interested in answering.

Also about that time, maybe slightly later, I spoke with Munchkin when he was buying a home in Vegas. We discussed different areas. At that time he was still involved in Hollywood stuff and wasn't ready to live in Vegas full time. I think he planned to rent it out for a couple years until he was ready.

But all that was back when Munchkin was still doing card counting. Not long after that, he got involved with James and like many APs, moved away from card counting and blackjack into AP plays with bigger edges. And there was no reason for me to continue to network with him as much. next time I contacted him, was when the tracking a second table fiasco broke here at VCT. I contacted several long-term players to ask if they had ever done that. Munchkin responded that he had (to no surprise).

So while I don't communicate with Munchkin much anymore since he moved away from card counting, he certainly knows people that know me and know what I have accomplished. And if you don't believe anything I have said here, go ahead and ask him.

I guess my point is so you have spoken to Munchkin and think you know him. So what. You are really a goofball Red.

And through all of the KewlJ(s) replying, which was entirely about one line of mine ("I'll ask Munchkin"), the KewlJ(s) don't explain why such careful card counters are so nonchalant about being anonymous in the AM, eating lunch, and then being not-anonymous in the PM. I guess surveillance takes afternoons off, who knows?

So, since the kewlJ(s) completely ignored the why of them doing this stuff, I guess I'll just say, once again, "I'll ask Munchkin when/if I see him," mainly because that would be the most salient way of understanding why anyone would behave like the KewlJ(s).

Not being a full-fledged "AP," I am at a loss as to why someone would make a wager at, say, a race book anonymously in the AM, then make a wager around the corner in the same casino at a sports book non-anonymously "after lunch." Seems sloppy and self-sabotaging to me. It would not occur to me to employ such a "strategy."

P.S. In case anyone is wondering, my example takes place at South Point, the Kewlj(s) favorite make-believe story place. South Point is old school in that it has a separate race book and sports book.

P.S.S. The KewlJ(s) bullshit a lot. Sometimes they get snagged on their own stench. I'm no expert on "APing," but to a casual observer, this certainly appears as if it could be another time they stepped in their own effluvia (MDawg and Villanova grads will appreciate that word). And yes, if there were just one "KewlJ," I guess "effluvium" might be more appropriate. Not sure. I leave that for Villanova grad students to debate.
