I have also read firsthand reports on Facebook from people who were laid off.

Resorts World has had all kinds of problems since opening. These include:

    - The nightclub and other features were not ready when it opened in June 2021, and many people found the place to be boring with not much to do.

    - The area of town is too far from the strip, and not a great neighborhood. Many do not feel comfortable walking from there to center strip.

    - There are too many hotel rooms to fill, and the operational costs are too high.

    - They have not been particularly welcoming to locals.

    - Former CEO Scott Sibella was very shady, and ended up quitting due to a federal investigation. He was even indirectly tied to the bookie taking bets from Shohei Ohtani's assistant.

    - They recently paid a record fine due to Sibella's actions, which created bad press for them.

Basically the place has been a fail, just like nearby Fontainebleau.

Resorts World was in the making since March 2013, and took over 8 years to finally open.

Here was the first post here about it: https://vegascasinotalk.com/forum/sh...orld-Las-Vegas

That's short compared to the 16 years it took Fontainebleau, though!

I just read an article that said LV RW laid off 50 people. Doesn't really seem like much, although I agree the place is destined for failure.

One interesting discovery regarding RW I ran into yesterday: I made reservations at both RW Catskills and RW Hudson Valley for stays this summer, and my LV RW card was of no value towards getting a player's rate or any type of discount. The reservations agent actually was kind of rude and condescending when I asked why a LV player didnt "rate" in New York....you know, the kind of experience that would cause Dan to try to get her fired.

At MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor--where, unlike across Resorts World, my LV cards can both be used for player's rates and I expect, when playing--my reservations were made as if I were already in their system. Also somewhat curious: as is typical in greatly over-regulated states like California & NY--I was informed that guests with local RW player's cards weren't allowed to make hotel reservations at discounted or comped rates more than 45 days in advance.

RW doesn't seem to get it. And of course, NY doesn't either.

They must be trying to make up for some of the loss with ADVERTISING on the face of the building,

and it's not just in-house but also advertising for the Raiders, sometimes Lexus, and other outside parties.

Imagine having to stay on that side of the hotel and deal with the irritating lights outside one's room? Luckily whenever we have stayed at RW Vegas, it has been at Crockford's. They actually do have some nice suites, which include 12' ceilings even in the bedrooms.

The only problem now was a gigantic neon sign outside the window, blocking our view of the mountains - millions of colored balls running around a very complicated track, strange symbols & filigree, giving off a loud hum.
    “Look outside,” I said.
    “Why?”
    “There’s a big .. . machine in the sky, . . . some kind of electric snake . . . coming straight at us.”
    “Shoot it,” said my attorney.
“Not yet,” I said. “I want to study its habits.”
I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people.

How much time have you spent there or are you just repeating what you heard?

For some time now their clubbing has been going on pretty solidly but the problem IS that somehow their clubs appear to have settled on mostly locals, and not an upscale crowd of locals either. Lot of minority wannabee gang banger types. Lot of local young drunks. Very different from the upscale more mainstream dressed to the nines club crowd at Wynn or Encore, or the trendy clubbing crowd at Cosmopolitan.

Also at Wynn/Encore and Cosmo, the clubbing crowd is simply there, it doesn't take over like it does at RW Vegas late nights.

The Crockford's high limit salon does have some very high end action, but over all, the casino just isn't doing well. I don't play slots but a lot of times walking through there I see rows and rows of empty slots. I don't see so many empty slot machines, weekdays or not, at the majors on the Strip.

Twenty years if you include the closing of the Stardust.

You don't see the lights from the outside advertising on the building when you are inside the room.
Dan Druff: "there's no question that MDawg has been an obnoxious braggart, and has rubbed a ton of people the wrong way. There's something missing from his stories. Either they're fabricated, grossly exaggerated, or largely incomplete".

I seen something online last night where RW has the highest resort fee in Las Vegas, $62 per night.

If you want to stay long term in a very nice suite that doesn’t burn too many comps the Crockford’s one bedroom is it. Quiet, roomy enough, and that high ceiling is unique in Vegas for a single story suite.

Without even playing (based on prior play) they will load a grand a month in free food on your player card too. You must use this at the restaurants doesn’t work for room service. But once loaded you must use it up within four days.

It’s not too hard to get promo chips based on Theo loss too.

    Frequent free entry tournaments.

Of what benefit to a guest is a twelve foot tall ceiling other than "conspicuous consumption to flatter the vain?"

---> Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent.

    https://anagram-solver.net/Of%20what...n?partial=true

Open Veins begins with the time of European settlement of the Americas. Galeano narrates how the men of Spanish Conquistador Hernán Cortés destroyed the city of Tenochtitlan, capital of the Mexica Empire, and how Spanish Conquistador Francisco Pizarro, after receiving a ransom equivalent to two rooms filled with gold and silver to free Inca emperor Atahualpa, still decided to kill him. Galeano also discusses how the sugar cane brought by the Spaniards destroyed the ecological landscape of considerable areas of Brazil and the Caribbean. As a whole, Part I of the book focuses on Latin America’s natural resources and how their exploitation generated wealth for the Europeans while exacerbating poverty for Latin Americans. In this section Galeano also emphasizes the suffering European settlement meant for indigenous communities, who were dispossessed of their land, enslaved, and killed.

In Part II, Galeano explains the origin of Colombia’s lengthy armed conflict, driven by the wealth generated by land exploitation and coffee production, and how the ambitions of the American United Fruit Company ignited the Guatemalan Civil War. He also explains the history of violence in Mexico, beginning with the US’s occupation of half its territory in 1848. Throughout this part, Galeano continues to narrate tragic historical events encouraged by the United States and corporations that have led to war, poverty, and suffering. Galeano also explains how foreign companies had as an objective the weakening of Latin American states in order to get access to their resources. He criticizes capitalism and its institutions, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Lastly, in Part III, written 7 years later, Galeano summarizes the events that had taken place since the publication of the book. He argues that the events discussed in the second part of the book continue to happen and that the US continues to dominate the region. He concludes by stating that Latin America’s situation has continued to worsen.

I found the numeral, 78230, in nature, given that the time of my 75th post was 7:08, and, its spot #304=(2^2+300)-->23. And, by the sizes of the little, images: 7.8KB, and, 4.8KB=(2^4X0.3)-->23; p<[1/(5X050X5)^2]. (300/4)=75; (16-0.3)=15.7-->1/57-->75. (296/53.333...)=5.55. Same benefit as of dwelling in a home with vaulted ceilings. Would you buy build or dwell in, a low ceilinged house?

Research reveals link between rooms with high ceilings and poorer examination results

Ever wondered why you performed worse than expected in that final university exam that you sat in a cavernous gymnasium or massive hall, despite countless hours, days and weeks of study? Now you have a genuine reason – high ceilings.

New research from the University of South Australia and Deakin University has revealed a link between rooms with high ceilings and poorer examination results.

A study published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology, led by architecture and psychology-trained UniSA researcher Dr Isabella Bower in collaboration with educational psychology researcher Associate Professor Jaclyn Broadbent from Deakin University, demonstrates that building design impacts our ability to perform tasks.

Dr Bower and her team analyzed data from 15,400 undergraduate students between 2011-2019 across three campuses at an Australian university, comparing students' exam results with ceiling heights of the room in which they sat the examination.

After considering individual student differences and their prior performance in coursework, they found that students had lower scores than expected when sitting exams in rooms with an elevated ceiling.

The researchers factored in the students' age, sex, time of year when sitting the examination, and whether they had prior exam experience in the courses investigated.

Dr Bower says it is difficult to identify whether this is due to the scale of the room itself, or factors such as student density or poor insulation, which in turn lead to fluctuating temperatures and air quality – all factors that can affect the brain and body.

These spaces are often designed for purposes other than examinations, such as gymnasiums, exhibitions, events and performances.

The key point is that large rooms with high ceilings seem to disadvantage students and we need to understand what brain mechanisms are at play, and whether this affects all students to the same degree."

Dr. Isabella Bower, architecture and psychology-trained UniSA researcher
The results support experiments that Dr Bower has done using virtual reality (VR), measuring brain activity of participants exposed to different rooms, while controlling for other factors such as temperature, lighting and noise.

Using a technique called electroencephalography (EEG), where electrodes are attached to the scalp to measure brain cell communication, her team altered room sizes, while recording the brain's response. They also measured heart rate, breathing and perspiration, revealing if someone could unconsciously detect a change to the environment.

In these VR experiments, they found that simply sitting in a bigger room resulted in brain activity associated with concentrating on a difficult task. This led them to question if task performance in large spaces is reduced.

"Based on these results we were curious to apply our lab findings to a real-world dataset and see if being in a large space like a gymnasium while having to concentrate on an important task would result in a poorer performance," Dr Bower says.

"Examinations have been a key part of our education system for over 1300 years, shaping students' career paths and lives," says Assoc Prof Jaclyn Broadbent.

In Australia, many universities and schools use large indoor spaces for exams to streamline logistics and costs. It's crucial to recognize the potential impact of the physical environment on student performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure all students have an equal opportunity to succeed," she says.

"These findings will allow us to better design the buildings in which we live and work, so we can perform to the best of our ability."

I got used to 8’ ceilings in the 20th century.

Now I feel weird in a place with 8’ ceilings, especially hotels.

10’ is standard to me now.

Also doesn’t help that I can reach up and touch 8’ ceilings without even standing on my toes.
