Successful sports and horse bettors use large quantitative models and/or have access to off-market lines. This includes Billy Walters, Zeljko Ranogajec, David Walsh, and their associates. You have a better chance of starting in the N.B.A. than being like these guys, because there are far few pro sports bettors than major league athletes. Most of the people in this thread do not know anybody who regularly makes six-figures from betting sports or horses.
I don't know what your point is, but that's a weird take.

Most APs I know are opportunistic. They seek the easiest money wherever it's available. So they bet sports when it's popular and accessible, as it has been for the last 5+ years. When sports inevitably dials down, they'll shift emphasis to something else.
