Was a beautiful drive though. Would not have been an issue if we fully charged rather than did the minimum charge needed to get to a much closer spot.
Joshua Tree? What area do you live? For me, Joshua Tree is never an option, no matter how bad the traffic. I always have to choose whether I take the 134-210-15 route or the 14-18-138-15 route. If traffic is horrendous north of Barstow, then I can take the 40 to the 95.

I am going to be getting a new vehicle fairly soon, and am still deciding if I want an electric one. The concern about the lack of long range and lack of charging stations in certain areas really worries me. How long does it take to charge when near zero and wanting to get back to full?

Have you done the Searchlight detour? That's a great way to get around state line traffic.

The cars charge far faster when it is charging the first 1/2 of capacity. Topping off totally is like 25 mins ... but if you are on a normal highway, you can get it done in about 15 minutes and get 2/3 capacity .. then just use the next charger. Now if you're going off in the boonies you'd want to fully charge but thats not the standard usecase.

I have a sock stuffed up on top of the rearview mirror to block the camera. The car never complains and it means it doesn't see me using my phone. I trust it quite a bit on a highway .. so it makes those long drives great. same thing with traffic. Adjust the car to be within the minimum car lengths and it'll stop and go with traffic.

A used Tesla is a really good idea if you commute to work in traffic. You can spend your spare time beating up on Rob Singer instead of driving. Godo for lolz.

I'm further down the 15 / 215 in the Temecula Valley. This is what my drive looked like:

I have done the Searchlight route before. It works out perfect going to Green Valley. That was how I wanted to go, but since we took the EV the charging options aren't as available.

Correct, and so many don't understand this. When on road trips where I'm stopping at multiple locations in a day (like driving from California to Florida which I've done a few times in an EV now), I start driving when the charging speed slows down and I have enough to get to the next stop. I find it silly to do a full charge and spend more time charging. I typically charge long enough to go pee and stretch my legs...

You NEVER see people who drive REAL cars on medium or long trips saying they get apprehensive over where the power will come from. How foolish will driving get until people finally get it? You California flakes will never see that until it actually bites you in the ass, and you comprehend what a wreck Newsom et al has made of a once great state.

And that sphere? What a waste of time and space. Something that morons like tasha would feel at home in.

Actually that is not true at all - there are plenty areas of the country where you have to plan your trip so you don't run out of gas. It isn't quite as bad but tip of FL, West TX, areas of NV etc, probably areas of the Northwest.

If you weren't so stupid and had actually left your daughter's pool-house since retirement then maybe you'd know this but you're too busy with your surfboard with the Newell sticker on it or whateverthefuck.

There are no gas stations either on that route for miles and miles... no cell phone service either. It is a great drive...

If you went that way, and figured out 40 miles in you only had 40 more miles of gas in your car you would be fucked... When there is nothing around, there is nothing around, not even gas stations...

Electric Car has been great. Just under 100,000 miles on the Tesla Model X Plaid. Only service done was two sets of tires... No other maintenance needed. Its one of the fastset cars on the road (0-60 in 2 seconds) and it seats 6 foolish people... It costs me pennies to charge...

I've been deciding between a Z06 and a S Plaid. I fucking love the look of the C8 Vettes and I've always wanted one, but the S Plaid is simply so much faster... They have a carbon brake kit for it too...

Edit to add: I'm a petrol head... well, was I guess... I've built race cars, drift cars, and have always loved speed and power. I love cars, but the power you get out of an electric car, it is something else...

I have no reason to not believe you yet interesting fact about Singer - he claims to have had all these nice cars but has never shown a picture. The only picture he did show was him going to a dealership and sitting around in an RV where he played it off as his.

He can do that but can't show any pictures of these beastly cars he has? But he has time to go to a car dealership just for pics to show us?

    Huh?

    lol kewl'n'co

Pretty much everyone on here hides behind a fake name. Anyone who believes anything anyone says is an idiot.

I believe plenty of people for the most part.

I don't think MisterV makes up shit, Boz, Axel, Mickey , DOnP, Dgenben .. others.

Then some who I know personally..

Kewl and Singer make up shit and we know who Singer is.

Just because I know you doesn't mean I believe you?

You just observe people over the years. It is pretty easy to tell IMO.

The people who make shit up are few and far between and a big part of what makes this forum so great.

Like I kinda suspect you believe me when I say I have a Tesla.. because .. who cares enough to lie about these things? Well ok.. we know who.

Having your name known is actually not that important in believable. After reading someone's posts for many years you have a reasonable idea who they are.

I put KJ and Rob in one category and everyone else in the other, as far as regular posters go.

ETA - Regarding Mdawg I don't read trip reports or posts on WoV but I don't remember reading any improbable claims from him here.

    I don't believe that.

But is there specifically something else you posted that shouldn't be believed, or is it just idiotic to believe anything that you say?

What an idiot. Post a pic of yourself with that libtard car of yours. I've heard you're someone with about as interesting a past as kew's had...and with just the same lame present along with a hopeless and meaningless future.

I wont post a pic of my "beast"--which to losers is a blackwing V--because envious old farts like you let it bother you all night long...night after night after night.

EV's are for pussys. Just like bicycles.

You didn't hear shit about me because the only people who know anything about me know you're a clown. 0 chance of any of them having told you anything.

Nice try but total fail like the rest of your nonsense.

Post the picture of the car. Stop talking about it. Show me I'm wrong.... but I find that very very unlikely and if you do it'll have car dealership stickers on the windows.

Singer and Kewl - 2 peas of the same pod.

I don't think Jason is lying about anything here. He doesn't really have any motivation to do so, especially because he's only an occasional poster who shows up for a bit, then doesn't come back for awhile. None of his claims have been anything unusual or hard to swallow, either.

Because this forum is mostly a place for APs, it's not surprising that most people hide their identity. But some here are known (including me), and some are known to certain posters here. For example, I've met Axel and others from here in person, but of course would never out their identities.

There's also a lot of posters here whom I have no idea who they are in real life, nor do I care.

Everyone knows who Rob is, but you just have to take him with a grain of salt, and realize that he's been a longtime troll, and always will be.

I pretty much see kewlJ the same way, except he gets on my nerves sometimes because he plays victim when he's often the cause of his own problems. At least Rob never tries to act like a victim here.

An AP who migrated from another gambling website to here put a brand new name and was outed by another Poster from that first website and the AP was understandably upset. He said something like,"Thanks for blowing my cover. The fact that I came here with a brand new name should have been a glaring red alert sign that I didn't want to be outed."
Take comfort in the fact that no one is actually backing up his wishes to have you permanently banned.

What makes you a petrolhead and even then why would that impact you. Like what is it there that you like so much outside of gas stations being more common than charging?

It is like someone saying- nah I don't want a car I'm a cowboy.

Evs aren't some great thing or advance in the experience but I don't think a dinosaur oil burning to be something to cling to either? You aren't a political nut who thinks exactly as told ... so what is the reasoning there?

I am familiar with gas engines and all associated components but know little about the electric motors powering EV's, so "familiarity" is a big factor.

The fact that EV's are quick to accelerate means nothing to me as my daily driver is a 1982 Volvo 244 Turbo: not slow but certainly not fast.

I have a problem with the limited range of EV's and the dearth of charging stations; I also have a problem with the idea that the battery will wear out and need replacement.

Then again, I'm a bit of a Luddite: while I don't fear change per se I do not embrace it, preferring to rely on the Old Familiar: I don't have a smart phone or a tablet (PC only, running WIndows 7!) and as an audiophile I don't stream music, I listen to LP's and CD's plus KBOO-FM in stumptown.

Set in my ways and liking it....

There was a time, when the Automobile first came out, when some of you were born, and people were like "How am I supposed to re-fuel it, there is no gas station on the way, I can just stop and give some water to my horse from the creek over yonder."

I see people with gas cars talking negatively about EV's like that... You are comparing a horse and buggy to an automobile...

    I've owned multiple EV's...

    2015 Nissan Leaf
    2020 Tesla Model Y
    2021 Polestar II
    2021 Tesla Model Y Performance
    2022 Tesla Model X Plaid

I will tell you this, if you are considering an EV, if you can't use the Tesla Supercharging Network I wouldn't suggest getting that unless you know for sure you will never roadtrip it. For daily use, you will wake up with a "full tank" every day so no need to supercharge / use public chargers for daily use.
