Thread: Government Cheese

  1. #1
    Was pretty good actually.

When I was a kid around 40 or 45 years ago a relative took me to a friend’s house and he had a big wedge of government cheese.

He gave us some slices with crackers as a snack and I was very impressed with how good it was.

Of course this was through the lens of being a kid so I might have liked any cheese at that point, hard to remember.

    How about you?

Did you ever have any government cheese and if so, how was it?

I did have some from a neighbor.

I was maybe 8-9 at the time and did not understand the significance of "government cheese", but that was how they described it.

I don't remember how it was but that it came in a cardboard box.

No, but I'll be sure to have some delivered by dog team to the igloo post haste. Ha.

Speaking of government cheese, Cole on Martin who is supposed to be an IDIOT said,"We give the government all this money, and all they give us is free cheese. "

A Poster said something like,"Damn, Cole is supposed to be an IDIOT, but he actually said something smart. I can't believe that even Cole noticed how fucked up paying the government so much money and only getting back free cheese really is."

Cole actually had a few smart moments on Martin, asking Martin why he was LAUGHING at Varnell Hill's corny jokes. I also thought Martin laughing at Varnell's corny jokes was weird. But Martin pointed out that he was only laughing at Varnell's corny jokes because he wanted to be on Varnell's show which did make sense.

Cole also dumped his VERY bitchy and judgemental girlfriend which was a smart thing to do. His Mother had also pointed out he didn't like his bitchy and judgemental girlfriend which helped Cole dump his bad girlfriend.

Cole was on Martin's side in Martin's car parking ticket court case, but the judge pointed out that Cole himself would be in trouble if he didn't turn on Martin as Cole himself had car problems. Cole turned on Martin so fast. To be fair, Martin actually did deserve the car parking ticket and Cole realized that he needed to stop protecting Martin who was in the wrong and protect himself from getting into trouble.

If only Walmart ran the country. They deliver their groceries at store prices, for orders over $35, with the yearly delivery pass of $89 plus tax. Don't even have to tip the drivers. Ha.

Well, I went with InstaCart, first, but, should have gone to Walmart, first. The last straw with InstaCart was a driver, a couple of weeks ago, who told me to "Shut the fuck up, you're not worth it!", after he told me that they were out of pop X, but, I reminded him that I had requested pop Y if out of pop X.

My Tasha story for the day. Ha.

I would have reported that driver for speaking to me so rudely. That was highly unprofessional of him to say to you. Who knows maybe you could have gotten your entire order for free and a full credit for the next time. A guy had a service person steal .90 from him and he reported the .90 theft because he wanted the guy to get into trouble and he got a full refund for roughly $22 and a full $22 credit for the next time.

He had bragged about this and some Posters were inexplicably MAD at him for accepting a $22 refund and a $22 credit for a .90 theft. They felt he was only owed .90.

Other Posters defended him by pointing out that he fully deserved the $22 refund and the $22 credit because he got robbed by a service person and pointed out that they would have also reported the .90 theft and taken the $22 refund and the $22 credit.

These Posters felt that this was the equivalent of withdrawing $50 from a bank and a bank teller purposely giving $49 and pocketing the $1 and questioned if the other Posters bashing the OP wouldn't report the $1 theft and accept a full $50 refund payment and another $50 payment for the $1 theft.

The previous shopper texted me while he was shopping that there was 8.5 kg (19 lb) in bananas. I immediately told him that 20 bananas is about five pounds. He just would not back down, so, I told him that I would bring the scales to the door. After about a minute, he revised it to 8 pounds of bananas. I didn't see anything wrong until I ate a couple. I think that he dropped them before coming. If drivers are in control of weight ordered there's something wrong, because they never bring the cash register receipt.

Coincidentally, we had a "bread scam" monopoly going on up here, a few years ago. The stores were taken to court, initial settlement paid out to shoppers, then a second round of payouts. Had to fill out another form, today, to get in on the second round of payouts. Who isn't a crook, anymore?

LEGAL NOTICE OF COURT APPROVAL OF THE LOBLAW/WESTON

A $500 million settlement with Loblaw/Weston, including $96 million already advanced through the Loblaw Card Program, has been approved by the Courts and allocated 78% to the Ontario Action and 22% to the Quebec Action.

This Notice is for persons who were resident anywhere in Canada except Quebec on December 31, 2021. Residents in Quebec on December 31, 2021, please visit the Quebec settlement website at www.ReglementPainQuebec.ca for information on the Quebec Action.

BENEFITS FOR ONTARIO SETTLEMENT CLASS MEMBERS

The monies allocated to the Ontario Action less court-approved lawyers’ fees, administration expenses and funder entitlements will be distributed to eligible Ontario Settlement Class Members in accordance with the court-approved Distribution Protocol.

Ontario Settlement Class Members who purchased Packaged Bread for personal use and not for resale must submit a claim for a proportionate share of settlement compensation from the Ontario Consumer Fund established by the Distribution Protocol by December 12, 2025. The amount of compensation payable to each claimant will depend on the number of claims approved by the Ontario Settlement Administrator.

Ontario Settlement Class Members who previously claimed compensation from the Loblaw Card Program who submit a claim for compensation in this settlement will only be paid an incremental amount above the $25 Loblaw card if there are sufficient funds available, and only if the incremental amount exceeds the $5 minimum payment threshold in the Distribution Protocol.

Monies allocated to the Other Purchaser Fund established by the Distribution Protocol for the benefit of Settlement Class Members who purchased Packaged Bread for resale will be held in Trust at this time and distributed as the Courts direct at a later date.
