Thread: Vegas Formula One

  1. #161
I wanted to clear the town before I wrote anything about it but I was on the strip during Formula One. I stayed at the Linq because it was the only CZR I could get comped for 4 nights straight. Although the rates they offered me at the others wasn't that bad, like Wed, Thurs comped Fri, Sat $60 a night.

I roamed Flamingo, Linq, Harrah's and Caesars. How busy was it? The only thing I had to compare it to was my 4 day stay at Flamingo in Sept in which I roamed the same 4 properties on the same days of the week, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat. It was much busier in Sept.

It was pretty slow in Flamingo, Linq, Harrahs, on Saturday night. The slots weren't busy and the video poker bars were empty. I was up in my room when the fireworks went off and I could see a little of it.

Labor Day weekend (another weekend UNKewlJ claimed falsely was not busy at all on the Strip), was pretty busy, I agree. As far as things being slow on Saturday night, if you're talking about low end play at lower end resorts (Flamingo, Linq, Harrahs), maybe all those people stayed home because they couldn't afford F1 room rates. Or maybe they were at the sold out race.

There was a lot of very heavy action at high limit tables F1 weekend.

F1 is a European thing that increased in popularity in the U.S. only in the past decade or so. I believe it draws a very different crowd from the Nascar set, but maybe I'm looking more from the perspective of people who were in suites at the Paddock. But still judging from the way the fans were dressed, just in general that weekend, I just don't think it's a lower end crowd.

Well-heeled folks from all over Europe and S. America travel worldwide to follow F1 races, and lots of them went to LV. And these aren't the types looking to squeeze out the difference between the dollar and the euro etc., or those looking for sweeter deals on hotels & restaurants than they get at home, or advantage shopping for basically anything.

Why anyone would listen to the constant made-up stories by kew--just because he's always trying to impress as the self-annointed "Man About Vegas"-- is a mystery to all people who's lives are grounded in simple common sense.

Flamingo, Linq, Harrah's is like the slums of CZR. I don't think that crowd are F1 fans. The people are dressed much better across the street at Caesars.

There are events that Las Vegas caters to that fill some room but really are not a good match For VEGAS because the people that attend just are not gambling people. The nascar weekends held at the track up in North Vegas is one such event. People come to town for that weekend but they are not gamblers. Right now we are getting into Rodeo week. Same thing. Lots of people from all over, but they are not gamblers. There is something to be said for filling some hotel rooms and restaurants during a weekend (or week in the case of the rodeo) that typically is not busy. Some of the music festivals are another event that isn't a great fit.

BUT F1 is the worst of these kind of events that draw a nongambling crown, because of all the extra expense building up and tearing down the track, inconveniencing local business and locals in general. I guess there is an argument it creates some jobs for a short time, but for casinos and gambling revenue it just is not the right crowd. It would be like holding a religious convention in Vegas, which oddly the Mormons do every October.

Events that are good for Vegas are the natural long weekends, drawing crowds that drive in mostly from So Cal, as well as more than usual that fly in for a weekend, plus big event weekends like Boxing matches, and UFC. Those people are gamblers. 4 different college conferences hold their conference basketball tournaments here the first 2 weeks of March. THose people game gamblers.

F1 is just a bust. 1st year it was something new, but second year attendance and revenue was way down (and that is before you count all the extra expense). Haven't heard numbers from this year, but it is down.

And as usual Dawg is lying about what I said on Labor day weekend. I went out playing Thursday night, which is not a usual night that I play, thinking it would start to be more crowded that usual and it just wasn't. Not the crowded conditions I seek out. Now did it get a little more crowded over the weekend? It did, but still nowhere near what a long holiday weekend used to be like 7-8 years ago before Covid. Not even close. And you don't have to take my word for it vs what Dawg says. There is tons of data by the different tourism bureaus that all say the same thing I am saying.

Why do you always feel the need to write rambling essays that always say nothing other than to make it all about you?

You never get that it is you who makes yourself look like the fool that everyone likes to pick on.

    Dunce.

How is it about me, you fucking retard? It wasn't my idea to embrace and bring an event that would cost Las Vegas a lot of money and bring a bunch of snobbish non-gamblers for a weekend. I mean really Rob, besides that everyone knows you are trolling, you are proving yourself to be a complete fucking idiot.

You're always wanting to show that you know "all stuff LV" when you really don't. You've been proven wrong about things you say by a dozen different posters, yet you continue making a fool out of yourself. Then everyone's your little favorite escape-word: troll.

If you weren't so insecure you wouldn't constantly be trying to show everybody how much you supposedly know.

Did the retard that pretended to win a jackpot in someone's basement just talk about what someone else knows?

  15. #175
It would appear from some of Singer's comments like "that I know all stuff Las Vegas" that Rob is very jealous that I live in Las Vegas and am able to make a living beating casinos here. Las Vegas would have eaten a degenerate gambler like Rob alive. The closest he could get was living in a trailer park in Pahrump.

Kew gets emboldened momentarily by the slope's lie, then proceeds to step into his own trap yet again!

Ignoring all the trolling by Rob and others, this video posted by Dessertrunner at PFA says everything about what is happening and has been happening for a while with Vegas.

That is the strip. There is a lot to Las Vegas outside of the strip. Sure if you buy water on the strip you're going to pay waaaay too much but if you go off the strip the prices haven't gone up anymore than the rest of the US.

Out of curosity I checked several vending machines in corridors and hotel floors. They all had 20 oz bottles of water for $3.
