On a more serious note, whether one simply plays or one plays with an advantage, there is a tendency to bet more and more over time. I think anyway.

That's not to say that this is the case with everyone, some people just don't like gaming at all and such people if they play at all keep it strictly low level for entertainment, but those of us who do like gaming, will tend to bet more over time. Which is why when I re-started gaming seven years ago after a decade or so hiatus, I was betting average maybe $200. a session. Now average 100X that. Did I intend to bet more like this? No. But it happened nonetheless.

Just things to ponder as we enter 2026, and make decisions about whether we wish to continue with our established routines. I've had a some huge wins in the past couple months. And huge losses.

I gamble not to make money but simply for the fun of playing against the house and their known advantage.

It's a constant uphill battle for we recreational players and easy to flame out / burn out unless you understand the dynamics of the game.

By that I mean simply this: a recreational player has to actually enjoy playing, win or lose, i.e. play for the stimulation, the thrill of the game, and always enter the maw of the casino knowing that I will probably lose, both in the short run and the long run.

Of course the joy of a big win can carry me through losing streaks, i.e. Hope Springs Eternal.

Lifetime now I've lost about $75K, which frankly is akin to chump change: I'm perfectly fine with that given the joy I get not only from gambling itself but by driving through the beautiful Oregon scenery to Chinook Winds, dining at the surprisingly good restaurants in Lincoln City, catching concerts and movies: all good fun.

I know guys that spend $75K or more in short order seeking a "rush," e.g. having safaris in Africa: me, I prefer getting bitten by a one armed bandit as opposed to a tse-tse fly.

This is only true among degenerate gamblers. And I am not even trolling with that statement. It is like doing hard drugs. They need more and more to get the same high. You really have demonstrated this over the last couple years dawg. You might want to seriously step back and take a look at that.

Advantage players just do NOT escalate or chase like that. EVERYTHING right down to bet amounts and how they correlate with Expected Value is pretty carefully planned out for most APs.

This actually has been one of the give-aways to your little story. If someone came along and knew nothing else about your story and fantasy claims they would see your escalated amounts and know you are not a real winning player.

And again, this is not me trolling you, but if your story and claims are basically true as far as amounts bet and you just generally leave out most of the losing sessions as most that read you think, this escalation respresents a sign of problem gambling.

If you are talking about dawg, he is not as wealthy as he would have you believe. Even Druff came to that same conclusion. He is wealthy, just not as he would have you believe.

Remember way back at the beginning of his story, when he his average bet was in the hundreds of dollars, he said that he used to gamble heavily but took a long break and was now back betting much smaller. Something to that effect.

Do you think someone winning tens of millions of dollars just up and takes a years long break? Or is it much more likely that someone losing way more than they planned, up and takes a break for years?

And then when he started again at the beginning of this "adventure" crap, he was betting hundreds per hand, now it is hundreds of thousands (according to his story). That is simply escalation of a degenerate gambler. Nothing more.

The fact that you had mdawg in mind at all when you wrote that irked the hell out of kew. In his make-believe world, there just is NO WAY anyone can even CONSIDER that mdawg has millions. It totally goes against the way kew wants thing to be seen, and if someone ever displays any verbiage that might go against the way kew needs it to be, that person will get called out for it.

I agree--the setting for Chinook Winds, Lincoln City restaurants, the wineries and pubs between Portland and the coast, and the scenic drives....all a beautiful setting, and something LV severly lacks.
