Saturday night August 30th Rincon in San Diego had its hourly drawings for free play plus $50,000 given to one player at 11pm. I swiped my card early Saturday morning before I left after Friday night's play and I was hoping for a $1,000 free play prize. But it was risky making the drive to be disappointed and coming up with nothing. I also did not want to gamble because I have a Vegas trip planned and I didn't want to blow my budget.
So, I showed up at Rincon at about 10pm. If I won one of the hourly $1,000 free play drawings I had till midnight to claim it. I was not picked for free play. Bummer. I didn't think I had a chance for the $50K prize and I was right -- I didnt have a chance.
But I did have $95 of free play from cashing in reward credits. I played 25-cent Aces and Faces and while I played for quite a while thanks to two-pairs, and a couple of full houses, there was nothing "big." No quads. Soon the free play was gone.
I had a few minutes to "kill" before the 11pm drawing so I put $100 into the $1 Double Double Bonus progressive which was at $4200. This game also pays progressives on quad aces and the other small quads, and quads with kickers so it's a fun game even though it's 8/5.
I immediately started to hit winners -- and then holding two aces I drew two more aces for a progressive pay of about $830. I took a photo, and at the same time, I posed for photos with some others who watch my show... and ran.
