There is the freeplay offer that comes through the mail where, for instance, one casino sent me $300 in freeplay to be played in $75 increments each week in the month of November. The freeplay goes right onto my card each week so I don't have to go to a boothling to get it. Of course, with an offer like this you time your arrival for the end of one week and the start of the next so you get $75 on the first day and $75 on the second day.
The other kind of freeplay is what I get while actually playing the machines. The casino I'm currently at has .5% freeplay on your action. So for every $200 in action I run I accumulate 1 freeplay dollar.
I've been at this joint for five days. I'm not playing video poker. I'm only playing the vulturable line games. I've run 13.1K in action. That's my total wager over 5 days of being here. You can do that at dollar video poker in a few hours. I can only do what the traffic will bear. If I don't have an edge I don't play, period.
I DON'T RUN A HUGE WAGER ON A THIN EDGE. I RUN A THIN WAGER ON A HUGE EDGE.
There are five different games involved with a total of fifteen machines. They are all short term positive plays left by the ploppies. One game has 25 different bet levels to check for plays. So I get a lot of plays every day. I just got back to the room after making a sweep. I'll give it a couple of hours then go make another sweep.
So far I've got a 2.4k earn on a 13.1k wager. That's about a 20% earn on the action. That's how it works in my world. And yes, sling, I work the short term. I rarely have a losing day. It's hard to have a losing day when you work such big edges.
