Thread: Best off strip restaurant?

  1. #1
I have lots of great off strip experiences, any sugesstions? Always looking for new places. Tired of the touristy mid strip places some time ago.

I like Ferraros .....italian, if you order meat dishes it will set you back 200 for 2 with some wine. Good atmosphere, well presented, great veal, . I dont drink but they seem to have a well stocked wine vault.

Based on your past postings, you might not like this place though

We also enjoy Ferraros, which is in that little strip mall right across from Hard Rock casino. And we like Panevino, on Sunset Road across from the airport.

Heard that name Ferraros before but never went there. I do know many speak of numerous places especially out on the west end of the city, i might check ferraros out next trip.

For a quick breakfast, we like Einstein Bagels, 360 E. Tropicana.

Excellent bagel, egg and bacon breakfast sandwich.

    Hello mr baccarat;
I very much like the del Taco and the in and out burger.

If you go to In n Out, try driving to the one on Sahara. Much better experience than the jammed on near Trop or the touristy one at The Linq.

Regarding breakfast, I like Egg and I, also on Sahara. It's a locals place, fairly cheap prices, and food is very good. Only knock on it is that the service is so-so, and the kitchen is hit-and-miss with accuracy. Still like them best for breakfast.

    I think they're open til like 2:30pm.

The father of the owner played 100-200 limit holdem with me once at Bellagio. When I put a bad beat on him, he was very angry about it -- like far more angry than you'd expect someone taking a bad beat at limit holdem would be.

How did he react to the bad beat?

    Swear, yell, pout?

I knew it. Larry is a wino. The only thing that scares a wino is running out of wine.

"I had a friend back in college that was an alcoholic" larry says as he takes another slug of wine. "He drank himself to death" larry says as he uncorks another bottle of wine. "I tried to warn him" larry says as he pours another glass of wine. "I don't drink" larry says as he takes another slug of wine. "I try to help people" larry says as he swallows another glass of wine.

I like del Taco and In n out as well, but the question was “best off strip restaurant.”

I vote Marche Bacchus which is near/somewhat northeast of Summerlin. I met the owner at the bar in Le Cirque several years ago and have now been out there a few times. Excellent place at maybe 1/2 what you would pay on the Strip.

If you like Greek food, you have to go to the Meraki Grill on Rainbow near Tropicana. Tremendous value and awesome food. Off hours might be best as it gets crowded.
Capo's on Sahara is always a fun experience if you like Italian food. Another great value.

I ate at HHaGG once: never again.

Ordered their hash: very stringy meat; a piece got wedged inside my throat, choking me.

    Bah.

I've gone to the Cracked Egg for breakfast in Summerlin. Great omelets at low prices. Clean and comfortable.

A friend took me to Nora's an Italian restaurant on Flamingo several miles west of the Strip. There are locals who rave about the place. But I wasn't impressed with the taste of my veal parmigiana though the portion was large. Service was excellent. I did love their Italian cheesecake but I'm not sure I'd return. Very busy and popular bar.

I know it’s barely off the strip but what are people’s opinion of Golden Steer?

I’ve eaten at Nora’s many times and I agree the food quality is average at best. When I first started eating there around 2003, it was much better.

My favorite Italian restaurant far and away is Mastrioni’s. It’s family owned. Located on the cusp of Summerlin on Hualapai just south of Desert Inn.

My dad and I have eaten there at lest once a month for the last 3 years. Funny enough, his favorite dish is their Veal Parm. He tends to stick to that since he enjoys it so much.

I’ve tried everything on the menu from veal to their shrimp parm, lobster ravioli and sea bass. Their seafood in general is always fresh.

During the week you can usually walk in but would def recommend reservations on the weekend.

For meals in Vegas start with St. Vincents on North Main for breakfast in the morning. Milk, bread and syrup, comped of course.

Then St. Vincents comps lunch at 12 PM with a bowl of hobo stew.

The Salvation Army on Owens serves a comped meal at 3 PM. Usually shit on a shingle.

The Las Vegas Rescue Mission on Bonanza serves a comped meal of a bowl of beans, milk and bread at 5 PM everyday.

    Bon appetite!

Best prime rib I have consistently had in Vegas.

It’s also the oldest steakhouse still in existence in Vegas.

We're not all footloose and fancy-free slot AP's, Mickey.

I didn't know a thing about slots at the time. Didn't even play them. But since I learned slots it's steak and eggs in the morning, steak sandwich for lunch, and steak and lobster for dinner.

I was just pulling your chain.

But the world is a better place because of soup kitchens: helps cut down on burglary, theft and assault by those so desperate and hungry that they'd do anything to ease the pain.
