Sometimes I have the time and energy to clean up crap threads, sometimes I don't.

You could appoint someone else as a co-moderator, as they do at WoV.

Sort of a "grand experiment."

The difficult part would be finding someone likely to be fair and even-handed, someone not wanting to act on an agenda or on behalf of their clique.
