Okay, so I just closed the stupid loophole (which is standard in the vBulletin software, sadly) which allowed unverified users to PM. So that's not going to happen anymore.

I've also taken over the DoxxingAlert2 and MaxPen3 accounts he created, and read its PMs. (FYI I do not read anyone's PMs here except in situations like this, but any forum owner CAN if they want, so beware of that when sending PMs.)

He sent a few PMs to attempt to scare people:

He told kewlJ that his cell provider was AT&T.

He told Tasha that her cell provider was T-Mobile (which is correct, as I already explained).

In the most bizarre message, he told MaxPen that he went to a specific steakhouse in September 2017.

I know all three of these people already posted the PMs anyway.

On the surface, this can seem scary, but taking a step back and thinking logically, it's not at all.

All three users contacted via PM were longtime members of other advantage play type forums, such as WoV. This is not a coincidence. This person is using the trick I described in my post above, except he probably did it awhile ago on WoV or some other similar forum. Regarding the restaurant in 2017, obviously he read about MaxPen having gone there at some point, or perhaps knows someone who dined with him.

I'll give you an example. Let's say I went with FABismonte to a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in October 2019. Let's say that FAB offhandedly mentioned to a friend that we went to Ruth's Chris together. Then that friend is talking to another friend, who asks, "Hey has anyone met Dan Druff?", and FAB's friend replies, "No, I haven't, but my friend FABismonte went to Ruth's Chris with him in October."

That friend of FAB's friend then would know that I went to Ruth's Chris with FAB in October 2019, even if neither of us know the friend of the friend. So then the friend of the friend could show up on forums and attempt to scare me by saying, "I know you went to Ruth's Chris with FAB in October 2019, and you paid with a credit card", which would be a pretty easy guess, because most people pay with credit cards at steakhouses (especially if they're not associated with casinos).

(I didn't really go with FAB to a steakhouse, this was just a hypothetical.)

Anyway, this is all Social Engineering 101. I'm way better at it than this guy. You take a small amount of information you have, build a story around it which you think is reasonably certain to be true, and then you present that information as "proof" that you know everything.

I'm going to put up some more counter-measures here since this guy isn't going away. I think he will soon find some unpleasant surprises.

Oh, and one more thing. I hate saying stuff like this, but given that I also run a site which deals with exposing poker and gambling frauds, I've had various agents of law enforcement contact me over the years about cases they're investigating. Usually I can't help all that much (I'm frequently just acting as a reporter and analyzer of known information), but sometimes I can contribute to their case. I always help when I can, if it involves a scammer or some other kind of criminal who is victimizing the community. Anwyay, I have developed a few relationships over the years, including one agent at the FBI. Now, I don't want to bother this agent with every silly troll who tries to screw with me or my site, as I can handle myself just fine. Last time I considered involving them over the LarryS-related threats, but I decided just to handle it myself. But now he's basically trying to threaten everyone en masse, and is trying to destroy this forum. I'm getting very close to contacting this agent and having them take a look.

Oh, and here's a little tip for you, bro. TOR and your other lame proxies aren't truly anonymous. If you don't believe me, go research it for yourself. You are now engaging in terrorist threats, which is far worse than doxxing. Feel free to look that up, too. Nobody at the FBI was going to care if you were threatening to expose LarryS's real name due to some beef with him. However, this situation is a different matter.

Final warning. I don't know you. You don't know me. If you did know me, you wouldn't go on this path. I date back to the hacking/phreaking scene of the 1980s, and many of the major players at the time knew me well (ask around). I'm a nice guy and don't hassle people, but I can be incredibly nasty if people fuck with me or my stuff. Back off and take your grudges elsewhere.
