I did learn some things about blackjack from AM, that I incorporated into my game, but we were not friends. He had a homophobic side to him.

I saw him on the beach in Atlantic city a couple mornings doing some kind of yoga/martial arts exercises, but never approached him because of his views.

But as I blackjack ap at the time, he was the real deal

The more I think about this I’m not finding another situation where someone’s life was affected more negatively by WoV than Tasha’s as a percentage of their net worth. If true that she has a $400-$500 negative balance in her account because of trying to pay back a $100 loan because of her gambling addiction.

She has admitted to having no safety net financially and is constantly borrowing money week to week to survive. She has admitted to not paying back payday loan companies and having multiple banks close her accounts. One can easily deduct she cannot borrow from family and friends due to past “issues”. So she has had to reach out to strangers on at least 3 forums (WoV,PFA & here) that we know of to try and obtain funds.

We know Druff doesn’t care and has been consistent on how he runs his forum. But should Mike step in and do the right thing and ban her for her own good? Everyone knows I don’t like the guy so I’m biased against him, but at what point is he contributing to her further downfall by allowing the cycle to continue? What do others think?

The only comparison I can remember is Timspeed years ago where he was banned because supposedly a family member came to the forum and complained he was a degenerate and borrowed money from the family and didn’t pay it back. If I remember correctly he was banned because of personal drama being brought to the forum.

Someone at WOV asked to borrow $5000. from me. This did not happen this year. That person to the member's credit did state flat out that had no idea when could repay.

I was nice about declining, I said that I don't blame the person for asking, but I don't lend money to someone inside a casino, which was essentially the situation under which the request was made - not that I ever met that person and have not met that person, but that person was gambling. The member and I exchanged some PMs and I guess that led to the member thinking "knew me" well enough to ask for the money. And it was not any of my buddyroo supporters at WOV.

As far as Tasha / Nathan I did post over at WOV that she should consider never gambling simply because if repaying a few hundred dollars is such a hardship, then that person has no business gambling. And now Wizard has suggested the same - that she quit. Of course she keeps going back to the same drill about how all this is due to some bank error, but the underlying issue of gambling beyond her means is what led to all this.

And as much as Boz makes fun of her, he means well with his post above, and so do I.

On the other hand, given that she keeps reverting to discussing the Bank Error (not in her favor!) and that she was betting too much to try to impress WOV members, she is not ready to stop, so I think trying to teach her to play +EV isn't such a bad idea, but that play AxelWolf suggested besides that it requires at least a bit of machine play knowledge to follow the steps, also seems to require $2500 seed money, which where is she going to get that?

I also said that I learned my lesson to stop gambling hard to try to impress WOV and VCT. I went from playing literally ONE penny a spin on slots to playing $50 Roulette spins. That's a 5,000 times bet! :eek:

Well, the nature of addiction is to think that it may be controlled. But complete abstinence is the proven best route.

Just look at Wolf, he keeps talking about how he frequently goes on the wagon and hasn't had too much to drink (lately) as proof that he is not an alcoholic. But someone who doesn't have a problem doesn't need to think about controlling it or cutting back.

Functioning isn't proof that one is not an addict either, and in Tasha's case, ending up in these dire financial straits is in any case not evidence of functioning.

A girl has to do what a girl has to do to keep gambling.

In her case gambling is an escape from what I assume is a rather drab, poor existence: there's a lot of poverty in America and we get to see it "in action."

While it is somewhat fascinating to watch her make one stupid move after another in the end it becomes SS, DD ("same shit, different day"), i.e. only schadenfreude keeps me interested.

If you're implying that Mdawg is the Newbie that brought new life into his Adventures Of Mdawg Thread, Mdawg is not. Mdawg has NEVER made any Socks. He was ONCE SERIOUSLY accused of being a Sock and actually got permanently banned at the time.

Mdawg had a two month Suspension at WOV and the Newbie showed up on like day 52 of Mdawg's Suspension posting like him. Posters stood up for him, saying something like," I REALLY don't think this Newbie is Mdawg. Mdawg was actually DRIVING to another STATE when that Newbie showed up and wasn't even on the Internet. I think it's a Troll that set Mdawg up into being permanently banned. "


Another Poster said something like,"So does this mean that a Newbie can pretend to be an Axelwolf Sock while Axelwolf is on Suspension and Admins will just blindly permanently banned Axelwolf?"

The Admins did an investigation and they found out that the Newbie had actually been joining MULTIPLE Websites pretending to be Mdawg and admitted that they had been played. Mdawg's permanent banning was reversed and the Troll Newbie was permanently banned.

Mdawg pointed out on another Website that he wouldn't risk a permanent banning, especially not on day 52 of a 60 day Suspension. Mdawg received an apology for the hasty permanent banning. So, once again, Mdawg doesn't have any Socks.

And besides, on another Website, I had a Thread where I was the ONLY one posting in it. I had a Poster who would often post in it but he later withdrew his comments and removed his "likes," out of the clear blue and ignored me when I asked why he out of the clear blue removed his comments and his "likes."

A couple of months later, I got a HUGE fan of my Thread. She would gush over my thread but left out of solidarity for another Poster who left the Website because he was getting bullied. Neither of these Posters were my Socks. One lives in Canada and the other lives in the United Kingdom. So, just because someone breathes life into a Thread doesn't mean that they are Socks of the Original Poster.

It makes sense that the compulsive liar who has created socks galore would think along the lines of sock puppetry.

You should try it sometime. It's a lot easier than you think to have someone set it up. I have been experimenting with using it more lately, but just leaving it running and departing entirely I haven't tried yet.

Something like an Eliza simulator, choosing from hundreds of quotes I had entered into the mix, with an ever growing database used for pattern matching.

I check in occasionally to edit some of the posts to add to them if I get to them in time.

There is a thread at WoV, entitled 'How much longer do counters realistically have?' which delves into the use of A.I. in regards to ending card counting. My experience says those thoughts are an over-reaction. Technology including different computer programs specifically designed to identify card counters have been around for going on 20 years now. Basically my whole career. People get all wound up about the term A.I., but it is really just advancement in that computer software field. We (card counters/APs) have to deal with advancements in technology on a never-ending basis. I don't see anything special about this moment in time and A.I. programs.

In addition as I have said a number of times, if the casino industry really wanted to end card counting, they could have long ago. They could have made ALL games basically unplayable, by going to ALL CSM, 6:5 payouts, and/or shallow penetration. They have chosen not to do that entirely, because casinos don't want to do away with card counting and card counters. Card counting and the idea that games can be beaten is actually good for business.

There may come a day when all table games are electronic versions with no live dealers. Blackjack and roulette will probably be the first to do so. But I think that day of total electronic tables and games is still years away. There is just too much resistance from regular players at anything other than the lowest betting levels. As an active card counter, I see at least another 10 years in my future and am tailoring my plan for that kind of longevity.

I will give an example of some of the resistance by customers to going to all electronic version blackjack. During covid shutdown, every Station Casino installed a version of what I call stadium blackjack, although it may not have used that brand name. That is a section where there were 15-20 individual terminals that the players bet on, while watching on video a single live dealer. because there was a live dealer, this was not totally electronic. This was basically a smaller set up to some of the stadium blackjack setups I have seen at east coast (PA) casinos that have upwards of 50 terminals for 1 live dealer.

So the problem is that nobody played these games at the station casinos. Nobody. A couple of the casinos have removed them al together and the rest sit there, usually not even open.

El Cortez installed a hybrid set up of 10-12 electronic blackjack terminals for a single live dealer, but then the game was totally electronic (no live dealer) at slower times. Again nobody played. Now they never have the live dealer, only the fully electronic deal and still nobody plays. And let me tell you, if El Cortez and it's $5, $10 players won't play the game, then it is not going to work anywhere else.

Good point. I do know that they get more play elsewhere than here in Vegas. I visit places like Windcreek (sands) Pa, and Parx and see people playing them. I have even played them myself at a couple locations. But my point is there is some resistance to move to any of these electronic type games, especially at anything above red chip level. People betting $25, $50, $100 a hand, whether counting or not, I think have some doubt that electronic games are on the up and up.

I do agree that it reduces and may continue to further reduce the total number of felt tables, especially lower limit felt tables, But that has already been occurring for the last 10 years with all the newer games with higher house advantages.

I just don't see felt blackjack disappearing any time soon at higher minimums that I play. And I haven't always felt that way. I think I have a good amount of time, here in Vegas. Might be more crowded conditions, than I have enjoyed much of my 15 years in Vegas, but I have already prepared for that, by playing a style conducive to more crowded tables in recent years.

One other thing: as APs we don't give a shit about the social aspect of playing a game. But some recreational players do. They want that interaction with other players at the table, high fiving and cheering when the dealer breaks. They don't get that at a stadium type terminal.
