I have always registered in sites under the same one for 20 years. And I have been able to hold my own in debate. I win some and lose some...but i never needed to bring in a dozen socks(or even 1) to hide behind. Because socks are for hiding,

Some places you can still rip off your FP and pull the card and they don't show you picking it up but for the most part these days most accounts are locked in and they don't seem to like players just ripping off and not playing. I have heard some recent stories of other players having troubles picking up the wifes FP or not playing and getting No Mailed so as I have said it is best to give a certain amount of play when you pick up.Quote:

I think you have a valid point. I wouldn't consider myself completely sane. I have issues as I would think most of us do in life. I guess the reason I put up the socks was because I wanted to see if it was possible and after I made a few of them with no problems I wanted to see how many you could actually make and get away with and it sorta snowballed from that point. Part of it is Ego and part of it is I don't like being policed. I guess another part was that Mike made some post about how my comments were not worthy of being heard over there so I dunno I just wanted to have a way to post if I wanted to post. What can I say... I am a 42 year old child. I am also very new to forums. I only posted on Civfanatics prior to WoV and that was because I played that game for years and you don't run into heated debates on that type of forum. WoV was my second Forum and I basically just imploded. I'm a flawed human, I can't help it... I make bad decisions all the time. I think you are correct about me wanting to hide. I've been hiding my whole life. What do you expect from a criminal? Honestly though how much can you hide over there? They have my real IP and a few of them have my cell number. Yeah, it certainly seems like stuff is drying up. I haven't been around long, but it seems like the "grind" plays of today are much more of a grind than they were even 2-3 years ago, since they're giving lower point multipliers, limiting you on action, removing better machines, cutting back on mail, etc. etc.Quote:

Now here's why I bring this up. Recently it was suggested to Wizard that mickey, a hugely valuable poster, not only in my opinion, but by Mike's own words, be reinstated since mickey is no longer drinking for going on a year now. And of course mickey's 'posting while intoxicated' was the whole reason for his departure. Now in response to this suggestion, Mike brought up mickey's threat and said something like "maybe if mickey apologized". Well Mickey did apologize for one and two, Mike knows that was not any kind of real threat. And if he doesn't know that, well, then seriously, he isn't as smart as I thought he was. :(
Mike Shackleford is a strange man. I mean you have the unicycle and rubic's cube thing and the food contests, all kind of odd, but no harm. I actually enjoyed watching Mike's recent video of solving was it the 4x4 or 5x5 rubic's cube while riding his unicycle. His goal was under 10 minutes and somewhere closing in on 10 minutes he finished, jumped off the unicycle and came running to the camera all excited. While neither the rubic's cube, nor riding a unicycle are my kind of thing....I loved his enthusiasm. So that's the odd, quirky Mike Shackleford.
But the strange, Mike Shackleford that I am speaking of, is the guy who refuses to forgive and forget and move forward. And I am not specifically talking about me or my situation. There are many issues and members banned that would be so much better off to just move on. Life really is too short for all that kind of shit!
Recently someone started a discussion about allowing banned members to return. Mike said no, which is his right. But his reasoning went something like this "There are no second chances in life. You get one chance. Make it count". I don't know where he lives, but this is America and America is a land based on second chances. The people that came here initially and almost all those that migrated here at some point, including my ancestors, all came for a second chance that America offers. Much of our penal code, except for the most serious crimes involves second chances. Bad credit, gets wiped away after a certain amount of time in favor of a second chance. I could go on and on. Mike is just in serious conflict with American values.
And since I am into this rant, which surely eliminates any chance for a KJ return to WoV, ;) I want to again comment on Mike's frequent "dictatorship" comments. Yes, someone has to be the final word, make the final decision. And that is Mike. But he should try to incorporate as much democracy and input from members as possible, not just because that is American values, but as someone today (maybe Gordon) posted the members are really the value at WoV or any forum. the members are what makes it tick. Mike never seemed to understand that. His juvenile approach of dictatorship, and suspensions for the tiniest trivial things and a very uneven hand making the calls on those suspension, pages and pages of suspensions. And worse even....all the bannings. Sure there are some trolls that should be banned, when it becomes obvious their goal is to drag down the site. BUT, there are many, many banning of good people who participated positively for a long period, and are banned because of some misunderstanding or worse yet, difference in opinion in regards to AP or gambling play.
Really? You are going to ban those kind of members? APs? And successful players? I think Mike forgets why he started the site. Remember that mission statement that went something like, "a place to share idea in the hopes that members will become better gamblers and players"? Banning successful players, both professional and recreational is in direct conflict with that 'mission goal'. It's a shame, but apparently Mike just doesn't care anymore and has forgotten why he started the site. Mike's values and "king" complex are more in line with a Saddam Hussein, or a Kim Jong-Il, than American values.
But I wish him a happy, healthy and successful New Year. ;)

I was banned from WoV on March 14, 2016. I didn't join that Gamblingforums and the thread that was already discussing it until May 25, 2016. That is 10 weeks! Now let me tell you what was going on in that 10 weeks.
1.) I had a couple people, members of WoV (I am not going to mention names) that told me they were trying to work on Mike to get me re-instated. One of these members specific told me to "lay low". And I did for 10 weeks. How long was I supposed to lay low, for a ban that most objective people, including you think was "trumped up" or unfair?
2.) I opened a line of communication with Mike, by creating an account at Diversity Tomorrow. I don't think I ever posted there, just opened the account so I could PM Mike. And we were having some civil and productive discussions. He admitted some things in private that he never would say publicly. Things about Norm asking him for a favor, to silence me. You know what I am talking about because a year later I went ahead and posted screen shots.
But anyway, in those 10 weeks Mike and I were discussing me being reinstated. Things seemed to be going well. We basically had an agreement. And then he informed me that he would have to run the agreement by Norm and see if he had any objections. :confused:
I knew Norm would have objections and he did which squashed that whole exercise. But more importantly, was why did Mike need Norm's approval? :confused: Right then and there I knew Mike was in over his head and had allowed Norm to take control. And of course that meant I would never be returning to WoV.
So THAT is when I joined Gamblingforums and the discussion already under way and told my side of things. I mean for these people and now you to say I should have laid low and let things blow over....how long was I supposed to wait. It had been 10 weeks!
Now both Face and Mission joining gamblingforums and saying the would have put a good word in for me if I had asked, occurred even later....several months after that. Easy to say they would have (if I had asked). For starters how was I supposed to ask. I had no way of contacting either. And in the second place if either or both of them felt my banning was wrong as they indicated, why do I need to ask? Shouldn't they have gone to Mike on their own and said something?
I don't know it just seems people wanted me to just disappear and stay quiet for a year and then go groveling to Mike. I wasn't going to do that because, I, Mike and everyone else that is interested knows my banning was bullshit. It was Mike getting involved and siding with his friend on an issue he had no right getting involved in. To this day, I don't think Mike even knows what the basis of the problem was between Norm and I. In short it was an issue over a member of Norm's site making misleading and mathematically impossible claims that were misleading newer players. Not that it matters all that much, but I have since been proven right when Blackjack and Math expert Don Schlesinger, later determined that the player in question was "full of shit" and his claims impossible.
I mean if Mike felt he had to get involved, he should have looked into what it really was about. Mike being a math guy would have determined that yes the guys claims were just non-sense (just as I and Don Schlesinger did). I mean we aren't talking about 'opinion' here. We are talking something mathematically impossible....same nature as 18 y.o.'s in a row. :rolleyes: There comes a point that someone needs to say "this person is full of shit". I was the person saying it. And Norm for whatever reason seemed to want to protect the "full of shit" person (to the point of trolling me to site's that he didn't even participate at).

The bottom line is that while I have again, laid out some of Mike's mistakes or areas that he was wrong, there is plenty of blame to go around. I handled much of my time at gamblingforums pretty badly and immaturely, with the name calling. Norm, Mike and myself, can all take part of the blame for where we are today. And where we are today, doesn't look to change anytime soon. :rolleyes:

Once the threat was made, and then acted o months later...it is a moot point whether this or that would have occurred without the threat,,,we will never know.
Without the threat he may have been reinstated since he had alot of good will built up and alot of support from posters. Once the threat was unveiled by KJ...the support and goodwill dried up. So we will never know now.
The threat made sure he was viewed as "dead". And dead people dont get an invitation to rejoin a board.
So you can say wiz would never have changed his mind......and I can say that it was very possible without the threat...if things were allowed to develop organically over time he would be posting today.

It's gross.
And Mike isn't the only problem. Other mods (especially one) have followed his power trip and severely over-moderate. I still read on most days, just as I read a number of other blackjack and AP related sites. Every once in while there is mention of something, maybe a small promo, that is beneficial. On the blackjack sites, every once in a great while someone shares something they do, a technique or sometimes some small little thing that I say "that's a great idea, I think I will incorporate that into my game". But other than that I find WoV pretty unpleasant to read.
And the doxxing, and attempted outings of a fellow AP in the community is WAY, WAY out of bounds, regardless of whether they are a members of that site or not.

So the grumblings continued until the above was posted. And then things changed. It tied the hands of the mods who wanted to help. So here we are.
You say he will would have never been reinstated, and I think he would have except for the threat.....one thing for sure....we will never know for sure. The threat made sure of that. So all we have is our beliefs
threatening to question publically someones " integrity, honesty and professionalism" for the rest of their lives, is not endearing nor helpful toward reinstatement

He never told me an exact number. That came from another moderator. Maybe he should take it up with that moderator. I have said this before...just as you has said what you said before.
Making up rules as he goes is normal operating procedure at wov. For instance someone was banned for supposedly welshing on a bet with another poster. No such rule. That occurred while you were a member in good standing. I and others had been commenting and pointing out uneven and overly punitive punishment by mods for 2 years before you were banned. Commenting on that very site. A big reason why I hadnt built up good will like you did.
So get in line. You were treated like dozens of people before you. So no you arent the only person who thought things were unfair. Me and others had been on that subject for years. I and others personally defended others that we thought were mistreated. If more people like you would have joined in...things may have been different. Maybe the climate would have been different. There is strength in numbers,
But unfortunately there were never "numbers"...just a small minority of us(who all eventually got banned). OThers like you were happy to stay in their lane and not rock the boat as long as no one mistreated you. BUT if it makes you feel any better, because of some of the things you pointed out and having gone back and read some stuff, I did learn some things about the site, Mike, other mods and how the site was run that I didn't know at the time and don't like now. Yes many things that happened while I was there. So it isn't with any sense of anger or bitterness when I say today, That WoV is not the site that I thought it was when I participated there. The end result is this....its simple
Even if the wiz got people whispering in his ear over the following months after the ban, and got the mods to back you, and after time he started to soften had you walked away quietly......things may have been different as time heals all wounds.
However once you threw the hand grenade on the way out....the above could not happen. Now I probably would have done something as well that pissed him off. Heck by me going to GF and co-founding that thread, pretty much ensured I will never be back on wov. I didnt need to threaten/promise him that I wouldnt forget and wouldnt let up. I just did what you threatened. I didnt let up regarding how others were treated, speaking less than 10 percent of the time about myself. Just as freddy did. Pointing out his failures and the failures of the mods to act decently , evenly and with proper customer service values.
But by threatening tainting the public's view of his professionalism and integrity via lifetime public reprimands....you closed the door on returning just like I did with my thread on GF and GG. You threw the hand grenade on the way out. You didnt have to. You could have let things organically unfold to a natural conclusion. A conclusion that may or may not have been favorable to you. But by your actions, you ensured that the conclusion was going to be unfavorable to you....just like I did for myself.
No regrets for me. Thats why the majority ...vast majority of the hundreds of pages on GF,,,,had little to do with my specific banning, I had a few pages going back and forth with mission and 2 pages with Face...and that was it. Everything else involves other people and general behavior.

Our reputations. AP's use these sites to network. We build credibility and a reputation. That is why almost all AP's use the same handle or some slight variation of. We aren't hiding, we are putting out reputation on the line.
For many this networking and building leads to partnerships, long-term or short-term or team play. Being a solo-type blackjack player and even now with a partner, I am still a solo type player, I am not looking to partner or team up with other AP's. But that could change someday. Maybe as my career winds down I will want to join some sort of team and go out with a bang. A 'burn all bridges' last run.
Now my reputation, has been damaged. Just read that post at WoV over the weekend from one of the top blackjack guys, team organizers and managers. He says he has seen me play (I still wonder :confused:), and that I am top notch. He also says he would not want me on his team. :( My reputation is damaged from all this. Yes, some my doing, maybe much my doing in the "aftermath". But there should have been no "aftermath". The initial damage, the initial problem, was the banning at Wizards site and there was no reason for that.
There really was no reason for my banning at the initial blackjack site (Qfit's), but that is Qfit. He has a long reputation of feuding. And most people knew that I was right and he was for some odd reason protecting someone who was misleading players and members. I'm not going to get into all that.
The banning at Qfit's site didn't hurt me that much. The blackjack people in the community knew what was going on. But when Qfit trolled me to Mike's site and manipulated and bullied Mike into banning me, people in the BJ community took a different view. I was now banned at 2 different sites. I must be the problem. The bad guy. The difficult guy. Players that I networked with regularly, began to distance themselves. What my reputation is in the BJ AP community was more or less confirmed at WoV, this weekend. And that isn't a game, or my entertainment. It is my career and could directly influence and harm my pocket...my income.
So yeah, I fought back hard. And subsequently dug a deeper hole I guess.
There have been people in this world that were fired from their jobs, and time passes and the boss rethinks the reasons of firing and realizes it was a mistake and asks the person back. That is assuming the person left the premises calm cool and collective. If the person burned the bridge on the way out...then the person doesnt ever get asked back.
You were in a similar situation.(and me too) on wov. Mike is the boss,,,,,at least the acting boss ...and he let you go....and he may have felt remorse had you just walked away and said thanks for the years of free access to the site and maybe one day our paths will cross. blah blah blah....
In both cases above, temporarily people may view you and the fired person as "damaged goods"......but when they were asked back, that label goes away.
However like you said...if you" dig a deeper hole".....then the "damaged goods" tag sticks. they never get asked back.
in both cases the reason for the firing/banning may be bogus.....but you can choose to make lemonaide from lemons and possibly find redemption later on....or you can throw the lemons at the boss and say fuck you.
Now like you said, i have nothing to lose by throwing lemons at the wiz. But you do....and you threw lemons as well..and that was a tactical error. You under-estimated the fallout. It happens.

It is no secret that PingPangPong is Monet0412 and now on this site I just signed up as monet. My situation is different. I actually requested to be nuked but was unable to have that so they put me on an indefinite suspension and after serving 30 days of a self ban I was welcome to come back. However, I didn't exactly understand the 30 day rule and decided to make another user name at day 26 or 27. It seemed to be a running joke that everyone knew Monet was PPP so I just ran with it. So I decided to post up a bunch of jackpot pictures during that 3 week period and the wiz made a clever needle and I swallowed the bait. We were asked by a Mod to cool it which I was fine with and made no more remarks. A few days later the wiz made another clever snide remark and I decided to post a more direct needle. No big deal to me... I was more so pushing buttons looking for reactions. I got what I wanted. I had fun with it. I heard that behind the scenes members were PMing all about it but I didn't really care about it. I had my fun. I got a permanent ban and so be it.
Later I made some user names that got squashed from my home pc but I knew they would get squashed. After that I started creating other names from other locations and had no problems with posting. I have close to 20 names on WoV now. I don't need or use them to troll or stir up trouble. I just have them because I don't like being told what can and can't be done or allowed. In my mind I will probably create another 20 names down the road. Not because I need them but just because I can. Also having 20-40 names will make it near impossible for them to stop me posting when I want to post and that is all it really is. Is that childish... sure but who cares!?
