Subjects like the KJ glitch are a chance to get back to legitimate AP discusssion an are really what I like doing here. The glitch is interesting discussion.

The trolling of KJ as a fake AP is funny. KJ can't say he wasn't part of the problem by making up a few things. And he's done his share of dishing on people, like me for instance, over the double up bug. A lot of the stuff written about him is funny, especially Singer's stuff. It's great comedy relief. But KJ gives it back too so it's a tit for tat thing.

I'm something of a Fezzik fan in that he accomplished things playing large-entry-fee contests that will probably never be matched. I also give caveats regarding Fezzik, however, because he did some things after partnering with people that were not cool at all. He tried to circumvent authority structures with people with whom you do not circumvent chain of command.

Anyway, he was a great contest player, but that does not always translate into week-to-week sports betting gambling. He did very poorly one season (we all have "those seasons," don't get me wrong), and his performance and conduct led him to publicly announce his self-retirement from large-scale wagering. He said he was restricting himself. You may be able to track down the actual column he claimed to be semi-retiring; it was in the LV Reviews-Journal/Sun, I think. About five years passed, and he was allowed to ease back into the public eye and start wagering significantly again.

March Madness has such a volatile structure year-to-year that I'm not sure any lessons in historicity have much value, but I am not a specialist. College basketball is the one sport that has been amenable to being solved by both savants and programmers and combinations of both, but tweaks in rules that seem less-than-huge can and will have large, sometimes unpredictable effects. The composition of the tournament committee can have similarly large, unpredictable effects (see UNC's inclusion this year as an example).

Historically, college basketball has been the most vulnerable sport in terms of players who wager actually making money.

APs count comps like cruises as income? Hum. I don't know any APs that do that. Maybe if they could sell the cruise they count whatever they could sell it for as income. I never was comped a cruise, so I wouldn't know. Maybe you can name a few APs that I might know that do this.

I also don't know any APs that count room comps as income. I know some degenerate gamblers that will lose $2000 a day and then think they are ahead because they got an over-prices suite and meal comp totaling $2400. But don't know any APs that do that.

You know what a room comp is worth to an AP? If you are out of town working a play, a room comp is worth whatever you would have paid to sleep somewhere, so you can play the following day. When in town, it is worth whatever it would have cost to put friends or family up somewhere.

I also never counted food comps as income. If a casino comps me $40 bucks to grab an over-priced burger, fries, drink, that isn't $40. But it is worth something. For 12 years, when I was playing the locals circuit and playing blackjack 6 days a week and me and my partner were eating 6 days a week at casinos, that had to have some value. Just in the money we saved at the grocery store. But I never counted it. It was just a perk.

Free play. Hell yeah that has value. I don't care what the casinos say. You are correct, it does and can turn -EV play into +EV play. For 7-8 years my partner and I split that supplemental play to the tune of 30-40 grand a year (split). And we were only half-assed doing the mailer game.

But what I counted in income was what I won (including from FP). What I turned into cash. What I could buy groceries with and put gas in the car with.

But I would like to see you name a few APs you know that count meals and rooms as income. I will wait for that, along with the info I should google to see you listed as a top sports better.

Come to think of it some AP that actually lives at the casinos for months at a time, like the guy mickeycrimm knew BigCharles or something, might actually count that as income. I really don't know.

What AP I claimed to have met said I was a fraud? who? The only real AP I can think of that said that is Maxpen and I don't know if he really believed that.
