It's been my life experience, as someone who spent 100 days a year in LV for decades, that most of the people who say "they are grinding" actually mean, well, you can guess.
For example, and I may be wrong, so video poker and LVA experts please correct me, I have never heard or read Bob Dancer referring to what he does as "grinding." I think the old, colloquial interpretation of the word "grinding" has very little to do with a correlation with "winning." People who are winning usually report that they are "winning," not "grinding."
Now my personal experience is, of course, extremely limited, but I pass along my life experience when it comes to gambling language interpretation. Not everyone is kewlJ, coasting along while grinding at everything.
