When requoting something that is spelled incorrectly one should insert to term "(sic)" after the misspelling, not to denote the claimant's stupidity but to clarify only that you caught the error and are correcting it.
Of course I know what sic means (usually bracketed not parenthesized by the way), but clearly you were mocking her, whether you wish to admit it or not.
