Advantage players or even recreational gamblers rarely, and I mean rarely post any gambling related experiences. Besides myself who did for years, the only person who shares much of anything gambling-wise is mickeycrimm, and even he seems to have grown tired of it, with only troll type responses.

Yes, there is ALL the trolling. THAT is what this forum is now. I have noticed that when I take a break for a week or two, the trolling and just general posting just about stops. You have the KJ haters that want to troll me. You have Dawg wants to troll, not just me, but axelwolf and anyone who has publicly doubted his silly story. And you have the Tasha fan club trolling Tasha. That really is 90% of the extent of all new posts here people!

You do have Dan Druff who makes a couple sports picks a week (which is appreciated). Druff also like to post informational type posts about Las Vegas, which IS in accordance with a forum about Las Vegas. Nothing personal to Dan Druff, but I find about 90% of what he posts not that interesting. A lot of crime stories, which as a LV resident, I can turn on the local news and see. And a lot of stories about casino fees and shit. The kind of stuff you see on a site like Vital Vegas. I guess that is of interest to some that travel to Vegas....maybe. Not to me.

I don't know, I just don't see the point of this forum anymore?

DgenBen, if this were true, I would agree that there is some value in that. But not only do I think this is not true, I think it is the opposite effect.

Hate and intolerance grows rapidly on social media of which I include internet forums (at least an extension of). Almost any time there is some horrific incident, shooting, multiple shooting of someone that is related to them being part of a group, Jews, Gays, ect, there is a direct connection to social media and internet participation. It is one of the first things police investigate when looking for a motive.

The internet and particularly the social media aspect of it (including forums) is...in my opinion, one of the worst things that could have come along.

(1) It allows people to talk and act in a manor they wouldn't have dared done so 20+ years ago.
(2) It allows people to connect with other like-minded folks and unfortunately that includes people festering hate and bigotry towards other groups of people
(3) And unfortunately, finding other like-minded people offers some support, whether real or imagined, for some to take shit off-line and do some of the things that hit the news almost everyday.

I guess the 2 words that best describe this are tribalism and demonization. You demonize those not in your tribe (in any way different than you) and that provides justification for shit that would be completely unacceptable 20 years ago. Not everybody of course, but those with any sort of issue, it feeds and fuels that issue.

We are just heading in the wrong direction.

Kim Lee responded in another thread to a discussion about Las Vegas in the 1980, specifically Gold Spike and Bob Stupak's Vegas World. While I find these discussions interesting and only wish I had been able to experience Las Vegas during that era, I was a toddler at the time or depending when in the 80's....NOT EVEN BORN YET.

I think you are right as far as social media & forums that people actually read.

This forum I would place in a different category since no one reads it.
