Here's a surprise--I learned something new about online sports betting last night.

I've made a total of 3 NFL bets this year, and nothing big. Why? For fun & entertainment. Before yesterday I was 1-1 with a tiny profit of less than a hundred bucks.

Our family is trickling in for the Thanksgiving holiday, and our son and his family showed up Saturday. He's one of these weekly online bettors in the NFL, and he uses DraftKings. The only time I've bothered with DK was for the bonuses.

At Sunday breakfast he thought it'd be interesting if he & I chipped in $25 apiece for an NFL 11-game money line parlay. Apparently, he's made bets like this before, which I told him wasn't wise but I understood the fun factor. So I agreed, and we each chose 11 game winners. We made different choices, so we "negotiated" a final selection.

Before Sunday night's game we were a mind-boggling 10-0. He said his best ever was 6-4. Our Sunday night pick was the Rams. Yes the bet won $2900, but after LA went up 7-0 DK sent a msg. offering $1900 to settle. I said HUH? Then the offers climbed as the Rams got further ahead. $2500....$2700....all the way to $2728 when it was 28-7. I wanted to cash out at $2500 but he didn't. At the end, I just let him keep the winnings. But I never knew this type of thing occurred.
