Ok, I probably should have stuck to table game advantage players, such as myself with the "who requests a check comment". Players like myself that play unrated, (forgoing comps and stuff to do so), and fighting that battle with casinos to stay as anonymous as possible, aren't going to request a check for our winnings. Advantage players that play machines and can play rated, sometimes doing so and the comps and points and future mailer offers, making up the +EV part of the play, certainly have less risk requesting a check. I would think they would still want to avoid it, as it could invite a second look at your play. The one time I requested a check was on a $2 royal hit and only because we were literally on our way out of town on a camping type trip for a few days and didn't want that kind of money on our person or stored in the car.
Red makes a good point about being robbed. Having been robbed that is always a consideration. I always weigh the risk-reward. And it can be challenging on what portion of BR to take out for a day or night play. You don't want to take out too much in case of being robbed, but with card counting one of the worst things you can do is run out of money on a shoe with a very high count. I can replenish some BR funds on the fly between sessions, but once in a session, in the middle of a hand, you can't say "hold on while I run to the ATM, I want to double down".
One final part of the thought process about being robbed vs having enough BR on you to win. You never want to make that decision in terms of should I carry less money, directly corelating to winning less, so there is less to be robbed of. You play your game, figure out what you need to carry to be able to optimally play, and do what you can to minimize risk of being robbed.
And I will share a couple things any table game player carrying a lot of cash should consider. Don't carry all your BR (funds) in one spot. Break it up into 3-4 different pockets and locations on your body, preferably a second layer with pocket or two under your outer layer of cloths. Some players use an under clothing cash or body pouch. Standford Wong's site used to sell some products like that. BUT, you also have to be able to get to your money. Kind of an attention grabbing moment if sitting at the table, you say hold on I want to double down and jump up and start peeling out layers of clothing.
The time I was robbed outside of my home back in 2011 that I have spoken of, I only lost a portion of the money that was on me. Could have been much worse.
