It's been my life experience, as someone who spent 100 days a year in LV for decades, that most of the people who say "they are grinding" actually mean, well, you can guess.

So let me get this straight. You want to conduct an adversarial interview and are requesting my assistance so you don't look like an ass. LOL.

You do realize I was a journalism major for two years and conducted a couple dozen interviews working for various papers? Can't say I have ever seen a request like yours.

If you want to ask me about my history, I'd recommend asking those questions DURING THE INTERVIEW.

Then you can do your own research and figure out if I was bullshitting or not. The problem with you, as in most of your posts debating stuff, is that you want some shortcut to information or "you don't recall exactly" or some such. You gotta do the work.

Now I'll provide some timeline and some background, and I'll send along a copy of the bio from Who's Who in Sports Gambling, but let me give you some advice. The only time an interviewee is going to provide info is when the interview in question is a puff piece. Otherwise, it's insulting for an interviewer to request the interviewee make life easier for him. Can you imagine me requesting Billy Walters work up a bio so I can interview him negatively? LOL.

Have you ever interviewed anyone? I thought Mission did a really fine job, the couple of things he wrote that were interviews. I'm saying that as a journalism and Writing-Option English major and as someone who has worked for newspapers. Mission was actually very good. He was a little Dragnet-ish, but that's okay. That's the way gambling interviews should be.

Shoot me an appropriate email to IntegritySports@aol.com, and I'll try to copy and paste the bio from Who's Who in Sports Gambling. It's not a polished piece of writing; the guy doing it was just trying to be helpful to the public (he was a born-again Christian and was sick of all the tout bullshit). I'll also ship along a beat-up copy of the first interview I ever did, waaaaaaaay back after my initial year with a public handicapping newspaper column in the Valley View Citizen-Standard. This stuff was all in the infamous "package" that Alan Mendelson requested, then refused to open. You should probably also read my article, "Scientists, Gamblers, and Magicians" published in The Humanist and the paper I presented at the National Conference on Gambling and Risk-Taking, "The Gambling Personality: An Interactional Approach."

I'm NOT an interviewer, I'm not a reporter or investigative journalist. I don't claim to be a sports guru or know more about sports than you do. I do know some of the stuff you say is wrong. I would simply be a guest on the show, making some statements and asking some questions.

Im not Mission, Im not Dan, and Im not the Wizard, Dancer, or Munchkin. As I said before, all those guys are softballers when it comes to interviewing guests. Yes, as you put it, I would probably be more adversarial and call you out on some of the things you have said.

You have much experience with this sort of stuff, no? This should be an easy slam dunk no no-brainer for you. Or perhaps you only have experience with softball puff-pice hugs and kisses stuff.

I was all but sure you and I had had a few friendly, perhaps helpful DM's related to sports betting back before the "feud" all started.

No, Im not looking to reveal private conversations or anything like that. I was just trying to get a better timeline and history of events how we met on the forums, and what our online relationship was.

But, I was looking through all my DM's here and I can't find any DM's with you and me. Perhaps it was on WOV or via Email?

He has met Joey Merlino a few times, so if enough F-bombs get exchanged, maybe I can qualify for the Merlino podcast if Mr. Merlino likes me. Dennison hated his last live interview (I think it was for his last movie, The Art Thief), so I think he'll be excellent support.

And I'll throw this out there in advance. What I do is only marginally "betting sports," since 85% of my betting volume is college football (not counting futures hedging in all sports). What I do should be considered "betting college football."

I'm not nearly as talented as that dude who won eight (or was it nine?) straight wagers on this forum. The guy won every single time he bet. What was his name? Oh yeah, The Riddler. I wonder who he really was.

By the way, for those interested here is the Obituary of Mike Lee. He was given credibility by respected peers in the industry and was generally regarded as honest in a field where that’s a rare quality. But he definitely went big with the advertising of his services at the time so we are back to the question of why he felt the need to sell picks, buy infomercial time and sell books.

But Lem Banker, who was as respected as they come, did the same and fell in with Jim Feist in that era. Just selling picks doesn’t make you a losing gambler, it’s a great way to supplement your income. It’s sorting out the winners from the scammers, of that era and today, that becomes the issue.

I don't mind sharing that someone close to me spent a lot of time with Mike Lee in Las Vegas. His famous line to this person was, "There's the talent. Then there are the people who exploit the talent." He was referring to handicappers, and he was warning this person about the backstabbing and information-hijacking in that world. I had some well-known people (one being Larry Fletcher aka "Southern Comfort") contact me because he saw distinct parallels between what Lee was doing and what I was doing. I was very young at the time. Lee and I were doing many of the same things statistically with the same emphases. But it was just different people coming to the same work-style. Fletcher hired me at one point even though he was working in tandem with Lee. His feeling was that since Lee and I were doing very similar things, if he got even one or two additional games during a season from me that he and Lee had missed, it was worth checking in for my lineup.

One important thing I learned from Fletcher was the idea that there were certain anomaly games that you just had to throw out. I was a stickler, too much a stickler, for incorporating all the stats of all the games. What Fletcher more or less helped me realize was that certain games, usually one per season per team (more or less), would just be anomalies, games that you were better served ignoring for the most part. When you extracted these games from a schedule, everything made a lot more consistent statistical sense. I was loathe to de-emphasize anything, but he was correct.

Most casino AP stuff is readily attacked if someone else points out the flaw and the opportunity. Especially if it is a problem at one casino or a handful.

Talking about your view on specific stats etc is not going to be that exploited and there are many interesting conversations to be had around it .

You just like to speak in these vague suggestive terms that suggests you know more than everyone else which that is so completely not the case most of the time.

There is a huge difference between keeping a specific play worth 4 figures an hour at a specific casino to themselves, versus talking about the where, when, and how to beat something like Full Pay Deuces wild.

If you had a specific online casino that had fucked up +EV numbers then you should keep that shit to yourself.

If you find a place giving out 5k loss rebates, you should keep that to yourself.

If you want to talk about half juice Fridays or whatever, it's not a big deal.

If you're sitting at a poker table with two rich idiots straddling all in from all positions, you probably shouldn't tweet your location.

If a particular casino has good poker games on Friday nights, tweet about it all you want.

If you're using Unibated or some other service to pick up $100 a day on arbs and whatnot, it's not a big deal.

If you figured out something unknown to most other Advantage Players that creates a significant +EV opportunity, you should keep that in your circle.

If you want to teach someone all the good tricks and skills needed on how to find and mine for gold, go for it, just don't tell them where your rich lode is.

A good Advantage Player/pro sports bettor should know what he should and shouldn't divulge. I highly doubt you're doing anything related to handicapping that isn't well known.

Well, Axelwolf, let me give an example of a quick flaw in your logic. I don't have an eidetic memory, but I used to have something close (if the strange words bother you, ask Shackleford) when it came to football. I could take the Sunday LA Times page of college stats, study it for half an hour, then spit back not precise but very close numbers for every game, covering almost all of the major statistical categories. Now it's true I wasn't doing anything other people couldn't do, if they had a couple of days instead of a few minutes to study the stats. But regardless, the fact remained that I could do in a few minutes what it would take most other people hours, or days, to do. I was essentially adding hours, if not days, to applying the stats in my head as opposed to having to spend time learning them.

The bottom line -- while I wasn't doing anything different from other people in this instance, I was doing it much, much faster.

And I agree that I probably am not doing anything that's not well known -- LOL. I'm just doing more of it better.

Another example -- everything in a football season is time-related. You have hours to process info before lines come out Sunday night, then you have to act. Speed is everything because you need to get the best of numbers, especially in college football where you may have a third of the schedule moving two points or more any given week. And you have to be able to anticipate regarding where lines are likely to move, which is something I happen to be very, very good at.

Now if you hadn't considered the need for speed, then you really have no idea what you're dealing with on a weekly basis.

I could take the Sunday LA Times page of college stats, study it for half an hour, then spit back not precise but very close numbers for every game, covering almost all of the major statistical categories. Somebody asked me yesterday exactly when it was that Bob Deitz changed from a normal guy on these forums to a nut. I don't think it is a secret who, but since he asked in private am not going to say. He can if he wants.

My answer narrowed it down to two specific points in time. One was when APs, first Axelwolf and then myself started doing something at an advantage involving sports betting. How dare we.

The second and this one may have actually occurred first, was when mickeycrimm started collecting SS. You remember, Dietz made that comment about "mickey sucking on the teet of the government" like social security is some kind of welfare handout. I am not sure why that was a trigger, but that seems to be when Redietz really upped his anti-AP rhetoric. When he really became one of these anti-APers.

That is the two points in the timeline when Dietz went from a normal dude, to this anti-AP, no one can do what I did for 40 years, which now turns out to be a scam-dicapper tout.

Anyway, I was out late last night/this morning playing blackjack. Been betting and watching sports all day, (how dare I?) Gotta take a nap, before I possibly head out again this evening.

You have been asked the tough questions, about EV, about Kelly wagering, about why you needed "investors" or "clients" if you could really hit 56% and you haven't been able to answer a single question. Amarillo Slim's book explains how he was an incompetent bookmaking partner and losing bettor. Jimmy got fired for a racist comment and ended up broke.

Retired encyclopedia salesman Mr. America Bob McCune ran Las Vegas handicapping seminars for a couple decades. He told me that he lived off Social Security and bet $100 per game.

Lem Banker was known as a pro sports bettor and had a column in the Las Vegas Review Journal that successfully predicted many Superbowls. Most APs I know are opportunistic. They seek the easiest money wherever it's available. So they bet sports when it's popular and accessible, as it has been for the last 5+ years. When sports inevitably dials down, they'll shift emphasis to something else.

Regarding the great Lem banker. Richard Rander AKA Jai alai took over for Lem, giving out picks for whatver publications/TV.

Jai alai was indeed a very good guru sports bettor. Very smart successful Advantage Players invested with him and he made 100's of thousands, only to fuck them out of it.

Others made a lot of money off Jai alai's picks, but they knew not to give the guy any money.

I warned people about him, but they didn't listen.

I was asked to listen to the facts and help negotiate a settlement between Jai alai and another party(we will call him Joe) Jai alai said he knew I was biased against him personally, but he knew I would be fair based on the facts alone. Jai alai's only defence was the fact that he was certain that Joe would have fucked him so he fucked Joe first and kept the money. LOL. Obviously, I sided with Joe, and as predicted, Jai alai never paid.

Fun Fact: Early on, Jai alai wanted me to lie for him regarding his poker winning sessions so he could get himself into some record books. It's amazing the lengths people will go to for notoriety in the gambling world.

How is it BS? I have the proof. It was an honest mistake. I have since corrected the issue and set it again. It's not the first time it's happened, and won't be the last. VCT will time out/log you off if you let too much time go by; perhaps it had something to do with that.

I think one of the problems with Kim Lee's summary is that he uses the word "sports" as opposed to other words. Kind of like saying there are very few "surgeons-who-can-operate-on-every-bone-and-organ" in the world. Not terribly surprising, but how significant is that observation?

The distinction I'm making is one of definition, which -- as in most cases -- the common fallacy is to mis-define behaviors and actions, usually in a way that (1) simplifies things in a definitional way, (2) amplifies the ego and alleged abilities of the person involved a la Leonardo Da APs, but in this case Leonardo Da "Sports Bettors," and (3) benefits the sports books (as always).

Another analogy is that successful handicappers treat "sports betting" more like the Eskimos treat "snow." In other words, and I mean literally, the Eskimos have more words for snowfall and don't lump all the varieties together just because that's the way Westerners see "snow." Translating all the Eskimo definitions of snow into a couple (1) simplifies things, (2) makes the people who have to deal with their two definitions of "snow" confident they know it all and (3) benefits those who sell snow shovels.

I know Boz has a pretty good handle on what I'm talking about; not sure "APs" have the humility or precision required.

And I'm not even broaching the subject of addiction. Specialization may retard addiction to launching funds on variegated events that really have nothing in common. A college football specialist, such as myself, has 220 days out of the year where's he's betting almost nothing. That does tend to immunize one to some degree from many behavioral pitfalls. Sports books would prefer a different kind of behavior.
